Chapter 16
The Outcast.
Sondra could hear the cries of her old friends, the laughter and the yelling but she continued to run through the bush. She stopped and rested rear a tree she heard a small cry of her name in the distance, Josh was following her, she quickly caught her breath and continued to run. But Josh had always been a better runner then her and he soon caught up to her, she jumped over logs and up into the trees but Josh seemed to have the better hand. She soon tripped and fell head first into a rock, the side of her face was scrapped and blood started to trickle her face. she turned around so she could lean agaisnt it Josh stood above her, he knelt down beside her, she didn't resist him seeming their both deep in the bush.
"you've hurt yourself bad." he said while ripping his shirt and dabbing it on her cheek, he smiled at her as she tried to look the other way.
"we need to find water." mummbled Sondra as she tried to get up, Josh put out his hand to help her up. She sighed and excepted his help.
"i noticed your mark under your eye." he said trying to make a converstation.
"please don't remind me." she replied trying to avoid eye contact.
"you know if we don't go back soon we'll cast as outcast."
"What do you mean by 'we'?" asked Sondra as she turned her head towards him.
"well you don't think i would let you have all the fun." he laughed, Josh looked up ahead and saw a small lake, he pointed towards it and Sondra followed. She knelt down and cupped her hands and started to drink it, she scopped her hands once again and splashed some water on her face to try and wash some of the blood off.
"well we had better start making shelter." said Josh moving towards her, Sondra wipped her mouth with her sleeve and stood up.
"fine and i'll get some fire wood." she said as she walked past him, he reached his arm out to grab hers but decided not to.
It was before sunset when Sondra had retuned, she had brought back enough wood to last them weeks and Josh had set up the sleeping area pretty well, but he was no where in sight.
"well seeming he isn't here i might as well have a cold bath." she said to herself looking at the lake, she quickly took off her dress and dived in, the water was warm and very welcoming. as she came up for air she wipped the water from her eyes and rung her hair out a bit as she watched the sun set behind the trees, she turned around and saw Josh sitting next a fire, Sondra quickly knelt so only her head was able to be seen.
"what are you doing here?" asked Sondra in a nervous voice.
"watching the sun set." he replied with a smirk on his face. "ya know this would help the fire alot." he said picking up her dress.
"don't even think about it mister." yelled Sondra, moving closer to the shore.
"then come and get it."
Sondra sat and thought about what to do, she really didn't need this. she quickly morphed into a black cat, jumped up and took it from Josh.
"if you are going to joke around, then i'm leaving." said Sondra from behind the bush, then reappearing as a human. "its holidays over in london and another school year is about to begin." she said moving towards Josh. "and not you or anyone is going to stop me." he quickly grabbed hold of her shoulder and spun her around, he found tears in her eyes and wondered what was wrong. Sondra replied with another rear going down her cheek, as Josh hugged her she raised her hand and hit him across the back of the neck, as he fell to the ground dhe puickly summoned her fire gate. she was glad to see the gardian still there and allowing her to still pass.
