Fox gave a sigh of relief. “I’m glad you’re here.” She glanced at the wounded elf behind her. “Legolas needs help…”
The wolf transformed into a human so as not so frighten any of the three and to be able to work more precisely. She walked over to Legolas, who was holding on to the tree with all his strength.
He smiled weakly and uttered his usual elvish greeting: “Elen sila lumenn’ omentielvo.”
Calavera smiled slightly and nodded. She looked up and down the elf’s body, surveying the damage. She helped him sit on the ground. The girls kneeled at either side of Legolas. He looked at the two apprehensively, not knowing what was going on. Fox caressed his cheek and whispered. “It’s ok, Legolas. Don’t worry…”
Fox took the plant from her pocket and crushed it. She opened Legolas’ tunic once more and spread the plant over his body and into his wounds. His short, ragged breaths told Fox that this was very agonizing for him. She glanced up at Calavera.
The werewolf nodded and stood up. She went off into the forest and came back an hour later with familiar purple thorns. Fox swallowed as she remembered her last experience with them. Legolas only looked at them in alarm.
“What are-“
“Shh… you need to relax, elf.” Calavera knelt again, taking a single thorn from her cupped hand.
Fox bit her lip and looked away.
