OooOOO - I really like the author's name starting with a certain letter one - and the published in a certain decade one as well! Monkeys I may use sometime in the future, when it catches on more, because people are being really sluggish about the ones that involve really hunting, but the letter-starting one would work terrifically well for a couple of reasons - not just that it would be easier for people to find books to fit the sale, but also because I'm really crammed up for shelving in the B's in fiction, so that would be one way to loosen up the space And the decade one - I actually have a separate section for books published before 1940, so that would make it a bit easier, plus you can tell from a book's jacket and who the writer is about when something was published. So that would work too, plus it would be kind of funny for me to dress from that decade for a day, during the sale ;D
Thanks so much, Ko! I'll let you know what happens with your ideas - and I'll probably use them more than once, too, so you'll get a couple of goes.

*laughs* So you could be in period costume for the decade sales or something, and I know you do cocoa and coffee and stuff in your store, but is there some sort of period food you could do as well? I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but something like chocolate chip cookies (minus additional ingredients ) for the 70's, or scones and devonshire tea for the 1800s or something. I don't know if that would work, but I'm sure it'd fit in with the theme.
Anyway, the monkeys one- I wasn't that serious about it, but I was thinking of something like a "six degrees" type theme or something, but not the same "six degrees" as your other party. So if a customer could make a convincing case why something was related to something else to something else, they'd get the book...

Yah, it was awesome ;D I wonder, should I have regular tea parties? Maybe on a day that's usually pretty quiet, so that it doesn't interfere much with random people buying books - like Sunday - so that there's a time when regulars can expect to get together and sit around talking?

yeah pretty good idea but you should have other beverages in case someone doesn't like tea, like orange juice, pop, and especially coffee ;D.
I would definitely go if that were there

Oooh! Tea parties! That sounds really awesome, En. Do you have like devonshire tea as well? That's awesome with a big pot of tea and stuff.
(And cocoa. Starting in September you will need to provide cocoa at said parties. )

Excellent article, En! Congratulations on the positive publicity. Is your Half Blood Prince release party really on June 16th? Are you having it early to coincide with your Bloomsday party? KG and I have talked about visiting your bookstore at some point. Hopefully we'll actually be able to.

What an amazing article! Your life sounds like it came straight out of a storybook, En...just perfect.
The Bloomsday party sounds really cool and unique, but I was wondering the same thing as Izzy about the June 16 release party...since HBP actually comes out on July 16 Either way, I definitely wish I could be at your release party! I can't think of a better way to celebrate the new book than with Draco.

Nah, the HP party really is on July 16. Which is a relief, as planning two big parties for the same 24-hour period would be a pain
I placed my order for HP books this past week! I'm getting 30 copies - not a huge deal, but enough for the people who have told me they want to buy theirs here. Yay ;D
I found the digital camera, so with any luck and maybe some help from Lianne () I'll try to put up some pictures soon....
