Indeed, Di. Indeed.
"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them." --George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950), "Mrs. Warren's Profession" (1893) act II
"I believe in getting into hot water; it keeps you clean." --G. K. Chesterton
((This next one has nothing to do with Slytherin but it's too funny not to post for everyone to see. ))

That last one reminds me of an old favourite...
"If evolution is outlawed, then only outlaws will evolve."
hee hee.
OK - new Slytherin quotes for the day, by Dianella...
I'm not smiling at you, I'm just imagining how you'll taste.
Slytherins don't smile. They bare their teeth.

I like the last one, that should be on the portrait to the common room too! Or the hells empty is the motto and the teeth one goes on the portrait.

*chuckles* May I be horridly uninvited and throw in a few?
"It is better to be beautiful than to be good, but it is better to be good than to be ugly." --Oscar Wilde (can't you imagine him saying that to console a Gryffindor on not making Slytherin? He would, too )
"Do or do not. There is no try." --Yoda (not precise quote, but I haven't seen the movie in about 4 years)
"Pour que tout soit consomme, pour que je me sente moins seul, il me restait a souhaiter qu'il y ait beaucoup de spectateurs le jour de mon execution et qu'ils m'accueillent avec des cris de haine." -- from L'Etranger by Albert Camus
*the whole idea of the Ubermensch and the entire essay Beyond Good and Evil* -- Friedrich Nietzsche
And yet more from Oscar Wilde, who could be the Slytherin House mascot:
"There is no such thing as a moral or immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all."
Over the door to the Slytherin Common Room? Really? Hmm...

-Gasps- But of course! …erm… not the uninvited part… because you are. Invited, I mean. So come in, come in! O.o I like all of those. Well, all except “ ‘Pour que tout soit consomme, pour que je me sente moins seul, il me restait a souhaiter qu'il y ait beaucoup de spectateurs le jour de mon execution et qu'ils m'accueillent avec des cris de haine’ ” because I have no idea what that means.
Here are some more:
“If you can find something everyone agrees on, it's wrong.” --Mo Udall
“I hate mankind, for I think myself one of the best of them, and I know how bad I am.” --Joseph Baretti, quoted in Boswell's Life of Samuel Johnson
“Any fool can tell the truth, but it requires a man of some sense to know how to lie well.” --Samuel Butler
Oh, yes, above the Slytherin door. It fits us, no?

I dunno I think that this was pretty slytherin-y.

*marvels at the new inscription above our Common Room door* Oooh thanks, Dawn or Chris or whoever else let us put that there.
Of course you're allowed to join in, En...as long as your comfortable among devils. Do you have something you'd like to say about our motto?
*wishes she knew [much more] French* Hmm, something about feeling less alone with spectators at your execution...
Nice quote, Vince. Where's that from? *hopes people will remember to cite their quotes*
Okay, I was listening to my sister's Sonic CD, and the lyrics to Shadow's theme totally screamed Slytherin. (I'm sure no one knows what I'm talking about...maybe Keeper, right?)
Throw It All Away
Now wake up
Everybody tries to be straight but things are still unchanged It's useless to resist their effort will be wasted Head straight for your goal by any means the door and the window are open There is a window with a view you have never seen get there no matter how long it takes
All of the darkness that dozes in the dark throw it all away No one can break you Nobody can tear you You live a endless life forever All of the darkness that dozes in the dark throw it all away You see a light wherever you go you have to face it again and again
Now wake up
And coincidentally, Sonic's song is definitely a Gryffindor song.

oooo I simply love our quote to our room. It looks simply smashing on the front of our board!!!
Do we need a new Dianella quote of the day?
I think so.
First a few quotes by others:
"I'm not really bad. I'm just drawn that way." Jessica Rabbit.
"I'm bad." Michael Jackson (simple...effective)
So, since the word of the day is bad, I'll work with that.
Hold on - gotta think...
To say something or someone is good or bad seems so absolute...I like to live in the grey area inbetween.
Why does it feel so good to be bad?
If bad were a color it would be black. And I look great in black.
or alternatively
If bad were a color it would be black. And everyone knows, black goes with everything!
OK - those are my quotes for the day. See you again tomorrow...

If bad were a color it would be black. And I look great in black. Lol, I love that quote! I would say evil, though. Sounds so much more...refined.
Another quote that I love:
"May you get to Heaven an hour before the Devil knows you're dead." -- from "Road to Perdition" (Amazing movie, go watch it if you haven't already.)

I do look good in black. -eyes sparkles- I love that quote, Silver. I heard this song by Dido the other day. I can't say the whole thing is Slytherin-y, but these lines called to me:
I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder Or return to where we were
Well I will go down with this ship And I won't put my hands up and surrender There will be no white flag above my door

Ooh, Dido's White Flag. Haha, I always thought the lyrics were saying something else...something less appropriate.

Eh... -quirks eyebrow- Less appropriate? -rereads lyrics- -tilts head- I don't see... er... hear it, Silver. -rubs chin- Not at all. Or perhaps I'm not looking into it very seriously.

Yeah...how about we not concern ourselves with that? Moving on...Oh great. Now I have to go find another quote in order to get myself out of this position.
"Damaged people are dangerous; they know they can survive." -- unknown
"Where there is light, there is darkness." -- Ramirez, of course! (from Skies of Arcadia)

*marvels at the new inscription above our Common Room door* Oooh thanks, Dawn or Chris or whoever else let us put that there. Actually, we can't change much about the boards. We're basically mods. En probably put the words under our common room. (All I can do is update the news, ban people, and set the censored words. And something called "fix a board" which fixes that "last post by 1" thing.) These quotes are great. Di, you're too awesome Edit: (man, sorry bout all the modifications. Color isn't working for me today)

I asked En to do it. I told shim what everyone wanted and then said he should wander around the gallery and read our posts and such.
