Harry a Horcrux? Well that certainly is most interesting. Though I doubt Voldemort would have thought of using him. I mean, he split his soul before going to attack the Potters didn't he? Thus he would have never thought of Harry.
When Dumbledore died, I actually wished he had split his soul. Because then he'd still be alive. I was half expecting to see him up on his feet when Harry and Hagrid made their way towards his body. But then, when they go in his office, and there was his portrait there, I knew that was the ultimatum, and that he is not coming back.

Hmm... I was just talking to my older sister on the phone and she also thinks that Dumbledore instructed Snape to kill him. She pointed out that scene that Hagrid saw between Dumbledore and Snape. Hagrid said that Snape had said he didn't want to do something but Dumbledore had "told him flat out he'd agreed ter do it an' that was all there was to it." Dumbledore could have been reminding and enforcing the promise Snape made to kill him, either because of the Unbreakable Vow, or a personal agreement that Snape made with him. Then later Dumbledore pleaded with Snape, but my sister thinks he was pleading for Snape to kill him rather than to save him. She also said that people had brought up the fact that Dumbledore and Snape are both legilimens, so they could have been communicating in their minds without anyone hearing...
*edit* Also... do you think it's possible for Harry to be a horcrux? It seems like when a horcrux is destroyed, the part of the soul it held is also destroyed. Voldemort wouldn't have been so angry at Lucius if he could've just gotten the piece of his soul back from the diary and made a new horcrux. It would also explain why Voldemort doesn't feel when a horcrux is destroyed; because his soul is already separated from his body so in some sense that piece of his soul is already missing. But ever since the prophecy it has been his goal to kill Harry. He's tried over and over again, and would he be so eager to murder him if it meant murdering 1/7 of his own soul? Would he even make Harry a horcrux if he knew from the start that he was going to murder him?

.....that's very true, but having Harry as a horcrux could also be to Volde's advantage. If all of his bits of soul were destroyed but the two of them, Harry would first have to kill himself to finally eradicate Voldemort, right? Or, if he could kill volde first, he would still have to do away with himself. What a twist that would be.

I agree with your sister Rue. I think that it was actually Dumbledore's intention to be killed by Snape. We still haven't learned why Dumbledore trusted Snape so much though, and we may probably never find out now.
What bugged me really is how there was so little of the Marauders. JK had said there wouldn't be the need of writing a book about them after HP7, but I'm not too sure if she'll be able to quench our curiosity now. Although if Harry will be going to Godric's Hollow, perhaps something could happen, and he could delve in the past from there.
Edit: If Harry were actually a piece of Harry's soul though, wouldn't he have been in Slyth all along, even if the Sorting Hat did think of putting him there. And wouldn't that be just plain weird? And, wouldn't Ginny appear to be running after Voldie or what?

Whoops, no, I didn't mean that Draco did kill Dumbledore - I was asking what it tells us about Draco that he didn't. Why didn't he do it? He seemed to want so badly to prove himself....
(aside: the part that made me cry wasn't Dumbledore's death or even the funeral - it was the things Dumbledore said when he was drinking the potion, and the way Harry felt about having to make him keep drinking it. Why did he have to drink the potion anyway, instead of just pouring it out?)
I'm not buying that Harry is a horcrux, for exactly the same reasons that Rue gave and also because Voldemort has been so startled that parts of him have surfaced in Harry - and I also really like Zeph's idea that if the final Horcrux is Rowena Ravenclaw's wand, that's why Ollivander is missing....
With other people making horcruxes: well, but would you want Dumbledore to kill someone to make one? I think there is a light side of magic version of horcruxes - and that's what the Headmaster portraits are. When you love a place and its people enough, and invest enough of yourself in it, then a piece of you is always there. though admittedly, I think I just want to believe that because I want to think a piece of me will always be in my bookshop, even if it changes hands someday.
About my earlier comment about Dumbledore's portrait - whoops, sorry. I meant Gryffindor's portrait. Shouldn't that be in the castle somewhere? But anyway - I also really want a word with Dumbledore's portrait.

I agree that Harry can't possibly a Horcrux. I don't think that Rowling would have book 7 end with both the good guy and the bad guy dying. Besides, I think that Ginny and Harry will marry... Hopeful dreams.
I think that Snape and Dumbledore did communicate when they were in the tower. Snape didn't do it immediately so I think they were talking something over.
But was it just me or did anyone else notice that in almost EVERY chapter of the book, the topic of LOVE was brought up in some form or another? Love potions, Ron and Lavender, Ron and Hermione (oh that is SO going to happen!!!), Harry and Ginny, Bill and Fleur, Dumbledore telling Harry that the ONE thing Voldemort doesn't have is Love??? I think that Love will play a part in how Voldemort is defeated.

I tried posting earlier but my computer froze... so now here goes. I hope...
Yes, Love will be HUGE when Voldemort dies... ever since Harry begun to ask Dumbledore why Voldemort hadn't killed him when he was a baby, and especially since book 4 (when Voldemort looked for the protection Harry's blood has) we've been able to tell that... However, who's saying Voldemort will be defeated?
About Draco... he really changed. The stress of having been threatened by Voldemort really began to show; this year he made up no songs like "Weasley is our King" and otherwise did not taunt Harry, Ron and Hermione during pretty much the whole year... If he is a Death Eater, judging by the way he acted at Dumblydorr's office, he's one of those who act because of fear.
About Dumbledore dying... I'm really gonna miss him, come book 7. Honestly, the whole night of his death, from the moment he was drinking the potion until McGonagoll began talking of closing the school... It was so sad. Just so sad...
I'm sure Harry will go back. He *has* to. Someone, Mrs. Weasley or Lupin or Tonks... Someone will convince him he has to go back, especially if he wants to become an Auror...
I was also surprised by Fleur, at the end...
I can't wait for Book 7...

I can't believe this, guys...Dumbledore? And the way it was written, it was so completely different from Sirius' death in OotP. It was so tragic and emotional...and there is absolutely no denying that he's gone, especially with Fawkes' lament and the release of Harry's Body Bind and Dumbledore's portrait in the office...
There's just no way around it.
And about the comment that Dumbledore should’ve split his soul at the last second: I sincerely hope you were joking, Rubes.
It upset me, a little, how JKR tried to add humor at the end, during the funeral scene. Was it just me? I was so distraught by the death that I couldn't understand how anyone could find those things with Percy or Umbridge entertaining at all.
What's going to happen with Snape? I like that idea, Rue, that Snape and Dumbledore were communicating at the end. Such an idea never occurred to me, but I really like it. Snape can't have been on the Dark side all along; Dumbledore could never be that wrong. There had to have been a set agreement, right? And now Snape is completely on the inside to finish this mission of his, the one he started, I assume, at the end of GoF.
RAB has to be Regulus, doesn't it? For JKR to introduce a completely new character in the last book that would play such a crucial role in Harry's last moments with Dumbledore, it would seem rather...ridiculous. Besides, Regulus Black was known to try to back out of the Death Eaters. But he wasn't clueless; he knew that he wouldn't survive, and the note in the locket said so much. When Regulus learned about the Horcruxes and Voldemort's true evil, he couldn’t bear the thought. He knew that such evil had to be destroyed, so he did what he had to do.
About Draco: I really love how JKR spun his character in this book. Even in the beginning, in the train, it felt like Draco was incredibly different than in the past books. He has so much depth now, which is exactly what I’ve been waiting (and hoping) for. En, I thought the scene where Draco kept lowering his wand showed us how much his character has grown, and more importantly, how he has grown away from the life of a true Death Eater. His fear and reluctance to lose his innocence is what matters in that scene, I believe. He doesn’t have it in him to kill when it comes down to it; he was only comfortable with threats and cruelty when he felt that it wouldn’t make a significant impact. But living the life of a Death Eater isn’t what Draco wants.
I don’t think Harry will return to Hogwarts, at least not to actually study. It’s possible that he may go there to discuss things with McGonagall or someone like that, and they will very possibly try to convince him to continue his studies, but what’s the point anymore? Harry said himself that he feels like all his protectors are now gone. He won’t feel safe at Hogwarts, and he certainly won’t feel like he’s accomplishing what he needs to.
for Ron+Hermione, and Harry+Ginny. And Lupin+Tonks, which I definitely wasn’t expecting. It’ll be alright, in the end. Hopefully.
…What an incredible book.

And about the comment that Dumbledore should’ve split his soul at the last second: I sincerely hope you were joking, Rubes. Oi! That wasn't me. I'm the one that said Lily or Harry are an Horcrux for Mr. Volde. I've got no doubt that Dumblydore is dead. However, since Dumblydore's soul is in Severus' wand, and Dumblydore's body is safe in a tomb at Hogwarts....
If Regulus did steal the locket, would he have had help?

AH! Sorry sorry, Rubes! Oh, I'm such a hypocrite. Yeah, sorry, I saw Hermy's red font and immediately thought that was you. No more using similar font colors, people! But yeah, those theories are sure...something. Nice to see you around, though.
I doubt Regulus had any help. If anyone would've helped him do something so dangerous, it would've been Sirius. But in OotP, Sirius hated his brother, so he clearly never knew that Regulus had turned against Voldemort and stolen the Horcrux.

How do you figure that Dumbledore was one of the Horcruxes? Like with the Harry-is-a-Horcrux theory, you would have to wonder why Voldemort would ever put a part of his soul into something he was out to kill wouldn't you?

No no I didn't exactly mean that Sphinxie. I meant that, I knew Dumbledore had died, but deep in my heart, I wished he had split his soul some time in the past, so he wouldn't be dead. I know the circumstances would have been incredibly awkward if so, I mean, for Dumbledore to kill, it's rather far-fetched. But hey, at that moment I was rather desperate.
((*shakes font colour* Don't you like it Sphinxie? It doesn't burn your eyes as much as the other one did. ))
I doubt Voldemort would have made Dumbledore a Horcrux. Would a Horcrux be so different from the original part it was removed from?
