I have my lip pierced. It was done with a needle without any ice or anaesthetic spray and it didn't hurt at all. I had my ears done with a gun when I was six and that hurt a lot more and I've had a lot of problems with my ears since then whereas my lip has been trouble free. It's funny because a lot of people look at my lip piercing and cringe because they imagine it must have hurt a lot but it's actually an easier place to pierce then the ears which are more gristly. I'm not keen on injections though especially giving blood as that tends to throb a bit. I studied veterinary science and had to give injections which was quite daunting, especially on small animals. I was terrified of going into a vein and killing them.

*grins* Hey, Jameson. If you have a lip piercing, can you take it out and then have a mouthful of drink in your mouth and squirt it through the hole? I know it sounds really gross, but my friend Gene does that a lot when we go out. Like, we'd get a jug of beer and he'd take a glass, pour a bit, put it in his mouth and squirt it into the jug so nobody else would drink it.
I have to find out about this baby needle business!! Is it just a smaller needle so it doesn't make such a big hole in your arm or something?
You know what else freaks me out? When they take blood from you and they do the thing when the attach the jar to the needle and the blood just pours out of your arm into the needle and splashes into the jar because of your blood pressure, and you watch the little jar fill up. It feels weird looking at it.

Why does everyone ask me that ;D I've managed to dribble milk but it's not very impressive. I need to practice more. I don't like taking my piercings out in the pub because I usually drop them on the floor and lose them! The worst part is washing. Soap always seems to get through the hole and you end up with that flat taste of soap in your mouth. Bleurgh!

You know, you could just use an antibacterial mouthwash like Listerine or something. Or even a mixture of sea salt and water.
I don't know why I asked you, it's just that all the people with lip piercings I know seem to do it, so I thought it was like, a common pierced-lip-person party trick. But yeah, maybe you need to get more fluid in your mouth to build up more pressure or something, I don't know.

Yeah I think it is quite a common party trick. I know quite a few people who can do it.
Oh and I meant washing my face. I don't wash my mouth out with soap or anything. That would be pretty wierd! ;D When I first had it done I used to suck throat lozenges constantly to stop infection. I found that preferable to mouthwashes.

Ooo lip piercings are really cool! But I would never get one..me with all the "ew needles" and "ew pain!" so yea.. I have a friend who's trying to pierce his ear with a thumb tack...it always freaks me out cuz he attempts it during class! Though I think he might be doing it just to see me squirm.

Tigress, I had a friend who pierced his ear with a compass needle. You know, those things in maths? Like, we were sitting there and he kept trying to push the point though and well, eventually it did.
Jameson- Hahaha! Sorry, I thought you needed some sort of medicinal soap for the outside of your piercing or something to keep it clean and crusty-free.
I'd love to get a lip/tongue piercing but I don't know how well that would hold up in court... oh, but that said, I have gotten away with purple hair and my industrial piercing... hmmmm... *muses*

Bleargh. I don't want to peirce anything I use frequently, like my mouth or nose. I think bellybutton peircings would get infected too easily and it's just freaky. I have my ear peirced, the first two were in a store, then my third was with a needle by a friend (in his flower shop while watching The Ring, no less). I would like to get a cartiladge peircing when I go visit him again, but I think I should definately go to a shop for a nipple ring (just one). I'm rather freaked out about the prospect of it getting stuck to my clothing and that one scene in the movie "Airheads" doesn't exactly help, so I won't be getting THAT done anytime soon. While I'm waiting for that, I was planning on getting this really great Celtic tree of life design tattooed on my shoulder blade.

Akio, nipple piercings won't get stuck to your clothes if you use rings and not barbells first. It's because the bally bits on the barbells can get caught in stitching, but the ring won't.
I have a stupid industrial piercing. I still like it, but I have two rings in the holes and I'm supposed to transfer to a bar when the piercings heal. I'm basically at that stage now, only the holes no longer line up!! Like, one of the piercings has sort of migrated so the holes can line up, but it'll probably be uncomforatble for me while it does, which kind of sucks. The reason I couldn't get a bar at first was because if you get a bar and the piercing swells, you don't have anywhere for the swelling to go, so that's why I got rings. Bah!!

If that's the only reason they gave you the rings then they should just get an extra long bar to put it in to start with instead o fthe rings. Yeah you'll have an extra 1/4 of an inch of bar sitcking out from your ear for 4-6 weeks, but at least the piercing is guarenteed to line up. And they make extra long ones anyway, for male genital piercings. So it's not like it would be hard to get hold of them. The only thing I can think of with the rings is that they would be easier to clean.
*starts mumbling about how there are too many people in the body decoration industry that really don't know what they are doing*

Yeah, I'm thinking of getting one of those. I talked to a guy at another piercing place and he said that I could still get a bar but I'd have to get a bigger bar, like mayber 2-4mm bigger than what I'd need because it'll swell when they move the hole back. Get this, I started with a 27mm bar (well, that's what they measured it to be when I got it pierced), and because of my keiloids I'll probably need a 30mm bar, plus swelling would make it 32-34mm. Argh!

I pierced my ear last night! It was awesome. So now I have two holes in my right ear plus a cuff. It's happy. ;D It didn't even hurt. My mom kinda freaked out at first, since I did it myself, but she admitted it looked pretty. The worst thing about it was when the pin went through the back of my ear, I totally heard it and that was nasty. But otherwise, everything went fine! It's not even red today.

*grins* Yay Leia! Wow, you're lucky that it's so well done! Hand on, so you already had a earring in that ear and you put another one in your lobe bit? Was the gross sound it made like, a fleshy popping noise? Because when I got my industrial piercing done, it did that too...

Yeah, it's still doing well.
And yeah, that was the sound I heard. *shudders*
