I used to be alot like Severus Snape: dry humor, cold, aloof, whose personality held complexity hiding under that hostile exterior. Fiercely loyal, but has a hard time letting go of past mistakes (and enemies). No offense to the dear potions master but he also gets rather victimsed and whiny in the third book when talking about his endeavors with the Marauders, but then again I think I'd be rather bitter if I had to face a moonmad werewolf. Fox Birch and I have been having in depth conversations of what the 16-17 year old Marauders might have been like. I see myself like Sirius Black, determined, loyal to his friends, stubborn (starting to sound like Severus : has a great sense of humor, mischeivious, I suspect very opinionated (first impressions mean alot), quick to anger, honest, has a strong sense of justice and morals, tenacious, but struggles with feelings of inadequacy. Then in other instances I feel like Bane, the centaur. Aggressive, reluctant to trust others, but is loyal to his kindred, stubborn, and of course, has a natural affinity to astrology, mythology, and riddles.

Lol! I hope so, but until then I'll just shrug it off! I don't mind being like Neville. I like his character and as far as I'm concerned I am being brutally honest with myself ;D

Hmmm… -ponders-
This sure is a difficult question. There are a lot of characters that fit me, but none that seem to be a perfect fit. …Like those very annoying puzzle pieces that seems like they will fit in a certain space, but instead you end up trying to jam it in…
Let’s see now.
I’m like Hermione as far as rules and following them concerns, but not so much as a brilliant student. Ginny, because a lot of people see me as a shy, quiet type of girl. Just goes to show how much you really know about me. Mother always said I’m clumsy. Kind of like Neville, but not too much so. The only real thing I share in common to Colin is his camera. I love photography, but sadly, my own camera isn’t too good. We don’t know very much about the Slytherin students except for Draco and I’m not very like him. Unless you count the smirking. I like smirking. In fan fiction, however, Draco is usually very fond of sarcasm. Now I really like doing that… There are probably others as well, but I can’t think of any right now. I’ll get back to you on this.

*chuckles* Should I think it coincidence that the two characters I relate to most are a girl named Luna and a guy whose humanity depends on moon cycles?
Probably... because I really was Luna all the way through school, but I'm only aspiring to be more like Lupin. The person I'm probably most like is McGonagall.
Cala, you've always reminded me of the centaurs, but not so much of Snape; but then, we're just starting to see a new side of Snape -- the reasons behind the surliness -- so maybe you will turn out to be very Snapelike when we know him better.

I'm like Snape in the respect that most of my school years were like Snape's school years. I was picked on by more popular kids just because I was there. I never had to be doing anything in particular, it was just that I was there and was an easy target so I was picked. So I can really relate to the pain and angusih Snape feels towards the people who did that to him, particularly James and Sirius.
The difference between myself and Snape though are that he held onto those bitter memories and let them feed his anger and hate making him the man he has become. I, on the other hand, let it all go. I didn't see the point in lurking on bad memories from the past when there was the prospect of so many good memories to be made in the future. Yes, at times I think back to particular moments and loathe the people who teased and made fun of me, but they are only brieif moments and never affect my life in the present.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone thought I was more like one of the newer characters than Maxime. Not because I don't like being compared to Maxime, I think it's cool. I was just wondering because as was mentioned there were quite a few new characters in the 5th book and was wondering if anyone felt I related to one of them more.

Nierme- I think alot of people can connect with how Snape felt. I was in the same boat you were in when I went to school. You're right though, Nierme, the best thing is to let go of that anger or else you can't move foward and experience life without being constantly guarded and suspicious (I learned that the hard way : . Which characters did you have in mind from the fifth book in particular? En- Yeah, I agree on the centaur bit. I was surprised to read about that fragment of thier social codes and canon though I still see Snape more as a past self than what I'm like in the present. That's the thing, you never know when comparing yourself to a book or movie character. People (in real life) are extremely complex, so I'm glad that in the 5th book we start to see more human sides of James and Sirius rather than static images of saintly heroes. I can see you as McGonagall in a business enviornment, but then again we really haven't seen Minerva's "fun" side . I can see you as Lupin though, so I'm not sure what you have to aspire to.

Hey Ni. I was thinking about that the other day, and I think there are a couple of students who might come to remind me of you when they're a bit older. But I guess... if I had to pick one, it would be Molly Weasley.
She's a fireball of energy. She loves her kids with a fierce and protective love, and that makes her feel torn between doing what she believes and taking care of them. She's smart and capable, but sometimes her fears -- of not being able to protect those she loves -- get the better of her for a little bit. But never long. She's resilient. Oh, and she's got that Celtic temper, too -- quick to burn, but quick to go out, and usually only triggered by worry for what she loves.
Cala, I was actually kind of pleased to find out that centaurs have their fair share of close-minded conservatives. It made them seem more real, and highlighted all the more how bold and open-minded Firenze is. He let Harry ride his back the first year, and now he's teaching at a human school -- both brave and ground-breaking moves, for a being from a culture that values isolation. He's a true pioneer, and what's more, he's honest. In that deep way that scientists are supposed to be. He tells you what the facts are and what they seem to indicate, and he also tells you what he doesn't know. That's what reminded me of you -- that kind of honesty, and that kind of bravery. I can see you doing what he did -- taking the first and hard step to bridge a gap, matter-of-factly and with a deep commitment to ending irrational injustices.

So a bunch of my friends and I were talking today.. they finished the book while I was gone, so we were discussing it. We actually got on a discussion of who we would be if we were someone in the book.. One of my friends said I was most like Fred or George Weasley, another said I was most like Sirius.. I don't really know, though.. I did finally figure out who my best friend Mark was though- Tonks!

So, speaking of Tonks: I was talking to Chandra a few days back, and I was telling her how I didn't understand why some people thought I was Dumbledore. (hey. maybe it's like emo-ness. it's not there unless you think it isn't. )
And she thought a bit, and then said that I was like Tonks. (I proceeded to ask if I was right in remembering that she had said she didn't like Tonks. She said she would like Tonks a lot more if she were her sister. )
This, I really don't get. I think Chandra maybe just doesn't know me as well as she would like, or as well as she thinks she does, or something. Because while I would really like to be Tonks, I am quite certain that I'm not. And for once, I am not confusing who I am with who I wish I were.
Chandra also said I was a lot like Bill.
Then, a few days after that conversation, we were talking again. She said I was a lot more like Tonks than she had first thought. I was flattered that she thought so.
So part of this post is to bring up the idea of who we are getting mixed up with who we want to be. And part of it is other people getting mixed up about who we are. So, yeah. What people have you been told you are, that you really know you're not? And what people would you really like to be, even though you know you're not?
People I would like to be: Lupin, McGonagall, Tonks, or Snape. Only reason I would choose not to be one of them: If I could date him or her.

I think En had said I was like Harry once, but I don't really think so. I mean I don't think I'm as strong as Harry is. I understand a lot of his anger and stuff and I can't say that I wouldn't handle those feelings in the same way... but I really don't think I'd blow up quite as much as he did. I tend to keep everything that is bad to myself. I'd find it a little too hard to just go on with my life and just sink down into a deep dark spiral of depression. I'm not like Harry, I'm not strong.

I know that she wasnt mentioned in the Books very much but i still think she's cool, and a lot like me... Tonks...well, i'm sweet, nice, (can change emotions like she changes her appearance), clumsy, and funny, just like her...and i can have an attitude sumtimes..like she had toward Moody on the ride to Grimmauld Place. i also think i have Hermoine's brains. wat do u think Yuki?
