I guess we'll need a GoF forum soon...
Afraid of alienating die-hard Muggles by cutting scenes, the studio and scribe initially had talked about breaking the book into two separate films to be released in the same calendar year, à la The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions, but Warners has now opted for a single movie.

And more...
Many people reckoned the hefty 636-page book would be split into two films, so Potter fans wouldn't be disappointed by losing their favourite scenes. But sources say Steve Kloves, who adapted the first three books, has been asked to make a single two-and-a-half-hour film.

Oh you cannot squeeze all of Goblet of Fire into a 2.5 hour movie. If they want to keep it as one movie, they better make it longer. At least 3.5 hours. There's waaaay too much important stuff that happens in book four.

*is too angry to say anything coherently*
Like... I don't like the guy who adapts the books to the screens. I don't. It's his fault that the dialogues are changed when they don't necessarly have to be changed, it's thanks to him that Fred and George were reduced to bloody extras, it's thanks to him that those funny, "not-important-to-them-but-important-to-us-scenes" were removed... I really don't like him. At all. This is just an example. In the book you have the phrase:
"The flowers grow high in that green field over the mountain, crossed by the river"
In the movie:
"In that green field over the mountain, crossed by the river, the flowers grow high".
WHY?!
And I'd be pissed if GOF would turn into two movies, but I'm certainly not pleased about the book being squeezed into a 2 and a half hour movie. I'm certainly not happy. And with that guy adapting it... ugh, no. I don't even want to think about it.
I bet that he's going to cut all the Hermione+Krum scenes. And the Yule Ball.

*nods in agreement* Yeah, they completely slaughtered some of the funniest parts in the first two movies. Like in Chamber of Secrets, Snape, not stupid Filch, was supposed to encounter Harry and Ron when they finally reached Hogwarts. That just ticked me off sooo much, because I really loved that part in the book. It wouldn't have been hard to keep it like the book at all.
They already managed to basically get rid of Quidditch in the third movie, since Wood isn't in the movie anymore. And Cho wasn't casted, so there won't be any Harry romance. How can they even think of getting rid of Krum and the Yule Ball?! So maybe they're not the most critical parts of the plot, but they still add to the storyline.

I met someone that knows Sean Biggerstaff and they say he IS in the film... There is definitely Quidditch.

Really? There was a lot of talk that they couldn't afford to include Sean (I don't know if it was a matter of money or time), and without the captain, there probably wouldn't be a whole lot of Quidditch either. Is there any proof either way?

The proof I have for Quidditch is this article: PoA Cast Prepares For "Wet Quidditch".
The North Devon Gazette has article on Reed Chill Cheater, a North Devon company that has just finished a large order of innovative thermal suits for the PoA film!
“Apparently it is for an incredibly wet Quidditch game,” said owner Chris Reed.
link to the full article: www.northdevongazette.co.uk/archived/2003/wk33/news/33news8.aspAs far as Sean, it was word of mouth from someone I met (that lives in Scotland) that said she's known him since he was a young boy. She said he's there filming, but that may be unreliable. All the information I have is that he's NOT in it, even his official site. I think that lady just wanted to sound important...

Have you checked IMDB? They usually have the entire cast lists... hang on, I'll check it.
Er....no. He isn't casted. Which makes me mad. But why are we talking about Quidditch in PoA in a GoF thread? I'll solve the problem. Never fear.

Good question! We got sidetracked... Back to GOF news...
Emma Watson has signed on for GOF - she was the last principal to do so, so now all kids have been signed.
This news is from iharrypotter.net.
And for some book 5 film news...(since we don't have a thread for that) - there is now a rumor that Alfonso will direct! He will NOT direct GOF, as POA will still be in production (not filming, but editing and fx) when it begins, and he did not want to be split between the two. But he has expressed an interest in Book 5 and has asked WB to make him an offer.

OK - again, hope this isn't considered double posting, as it's been weeks since the last post. But here is some new POA and GOF news.
John Williams has officially been signed to score Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and will also the score the fourth film in the series, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, if his schedule permits.

Rumor: Goblet of Fire to be 4 hour movie Emphasis on the word rumor. From Wizard News:
Wizard News has now learned, according to reliable sources inside Warner Brothers, that they are looking into the possibility of making Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire into one movie, four hours long, with an intermission.

Was feeling bored, came by this:
"Dursleys dropped from GoF? Ananova is reporting that the Dursleys will be cut out of GoF to reduce the length script. Richard Griffiths (Vernon) and Fiona Shaw (Petunia) are both said to be stunned by the news.
Griffiths told a British tabloid: "Filming had already started on the fourth and Fiona and I asked the producers 'Are we in it?' and they said: 'Oh, did no one tell you?'
Griffiths has stated that he hopes there will be a fans revolt. He is reported as saying to JK Rowling, 'Couldn't the Dursleys turn up to an Open Day at Harry's school or something?' but she said, 'I don't think so.'"
It seems they both took it pretty bad didn't they?

Cut the Dursleys from GoF?! They can't! I love the part where the Weasleys come pick up Harry. That would absolutely suck! And how would they start the movie? Just pick up at the beginning of the World Cup?

Come to think of it, now that would mean no floo powder, no Dudley huge tounge, all we can do is wait, that's it unfortunately.
