Care of Magical Creatures with Professor O'Donnell

(OOC: Due to certain problems, Ice(Sarah) was unable to create the new thread for her class so I created it myself. Hence, I won't be the one directing the lesson, Ice, or rather, Professor O'Donnell will.)


-Professor O'Donnell walks in, rather straight-backed and uptight, due to the fact that it's her first class and she's been running a bit late. The only thing that fazed her appearance was the presence of a large, greenish-black bird sitting comfortably on her shoulder. Its head attempting to burrow into the Professor's wavy brown hair, the bird wailed. the sound was low and throbbing, and the Professor immediately glanced at the windows.
She placed her books and such on her desk, straightened her back some more, and smiled at the class.-

"Good morning! Please excuse my tardiness; Aubrey here was kind of peckish this morning...

"Now then, you are here to learn about the magical creatures that inhabit this wizarding world. On top of that, you will also learn to care for them; and we will delve into certain subjects more deeply than others..."

-the Professor paused and looked around at the students, cleared her throat quietly, and continued...-

"Please do not expect this class to be easy, and don't expect it to be hard. All i ask is that you participate ." -she stopped to let this sink in, then looked around yet again...-

"Okay then, can anyone tell me what this fine specimen is, exactly?"

-O'Donnell smiles sweetly, and looks a bit hopeful...she spots a hand raised, and nods at the student...-

*she paused slightly before answering*

It's an Augurey Professor. Its cry was once thought to be a death omen, but it is now known that the Augurey's cry foretells rain. That is why you were looking out of the window earlier, is it not so Professor?

[Sarah]

-grins, and nods enthusiastically.-

"Yes! It is an Augurey! Thank you, Miss...? I apologize, I've seemed to have misplaced my roster..."

-O'Donnell walks to her desk and takes a large glass bottle from one of the drawers. She then walks to the other side of the classroom, the Augurey rocking a little and moving to her other shoulder.-

"Okay! As you may or may not know, augureys feed mainly off of large insects and fairies. Fairies are a tad hard to acquire, so I've brought with me today these:"

-The Professor holds up the large jar, and in it are several furry, grey insects that won't stop buzzing around.-

"...Glumbumbles. Now these odd specimen have a tendency to infest beehives, and I suggest you not touch the honey they've infested...

"Aubrey enjoys Glumbumbles very much; it's one of her main food resources...and she grows fond of one that might feed her some of these insects...Would anyone care to offer her some...?"

-The professor looks around, and when she receives no response, she sighs.-

"Aw, c'mon, now! She won't bite! She's more afraid of you than you are of her! And the only thing that might happen if you mess with the Glumbumbles...well, you'll be a bit glum, but only for a short amount of time...erm, ok. I'll show you she's no harm."

-O'Donnel unscrews the lid of the jar slowly, and Aubrey's head perks up at the sound. Quickly, the professor reaches in and grabs a fighting glumbumble, and slams the lid onto the jar. Placing the jar on her desk, she offers her forearm to the augurey, who accepts, then tosses the insect in the air before her. Before you can blink, Aubrey makes a quick, jerky movement and the glumbumble is gone.-

"...See? You don't really have much contact with either specimen. But I'm almost positive Aubrey'll allow you to touch her if you feed her. She's a pig at heart..."

[Jon]

*walks in* Um... excuse me Professor O' Donnell. Could i talk to you. *whispers in Professor O' Donnell's ear* Yea, I was just wondering, do you have any hinkypunks i could use for my class? I would greatly appreciate it.

[Sarah]

-nods-
Oh, yes, of course you may! Just give me two seconds to run to the back and fetch some...

-a few minutes later.....-
Ok, here we are. I do apologize for the wait...they're kind of frisky, seeing as I've removed their lanterns off their persons...but all-in-all, they should cooperate.
-flicks her wand behind her and a large glass jar containing five hinkypunks emerges from behind the back door. it floats over towards the Professor, and she hands it to Phil.-

...may I ask what you're going to do with them?
