En, was that shortbread the McVities one? They make Jaffa cakes as well, which I could eat for the rest of my life and not get sick of. Mmmm. I had them in England and then I found them once (really expensive) in an imported food store in Hong Kong, but not since.
Oh, Fan. I love a good vegie burger. The bubble and squeak potato things are good enough substitute when you're a starving student as well though I guess.

Ooo Koneko if you have any left over potatoes you can fry them in some oil to make lovely potato cakes. They use up all your left overs and fill you up.
I'm a broke gap year student until i get my wages.
Jaffa cakes. They are gorgeous.

hmmm...I'm not sure, but it sounds meaty. eek! I love pita bread. It's so versatile! you can stuff any lil' tidbit into it and it tastes great, since pita has a relatively flat taste. It's so cool! for lunch today I put tuna fish inside, and it was great. For dinner, I cut up a veggie burger and stuffed it inside, along with a liberal amount of ketchup. Yay, pita bread! ;D Oh my god, I loooooove pita bread! I haven't had in quite a while though, since my parents are on the whole Atkins diet thing. I used to have turkey, cheese, and mustard pita sandwhiches. I used to put eggs and taylor ham in there, too. I called it my breakfast pita. You can pretty much put almost anything into pita, and it'll taste sooo good

Eek, Lynn, you heard what they've been saying about the Atkins diet, right?
Speaking of, Atkins diet chocolate is BAAAAD. It tastes like nasty easter egg chocolate. I don't know if I'd be able to do the Atkins diet if I had to, if I did, I'd be posting here about how I'm craving potatoes every single day.
Oh, but yeah. Vegie burger pita bread things are great. Especially if you cover the burger first in breadcrumbs and bake it so it's crunchy on the outside... Mmm!

*sneezes* Koko, you mean that it kinda screws up your body some? I've told my parents that, but they didn't listen. *shrugs* They seem to be doing fine, and the diet's working for them really well.
All week, I've been dying for some Irish Soda Bread. I couldn't have it on St. Patty's Day.... how sad

Yeah, Lynn, apparently there's been quite a lot of research into how safe the Atkins diet is, because stripping carbs out of your diet completely is supposed to be bad for you, I can't remember exactly why but it has something to do with your capacity to metabolise food or something. However, on the flip side, I suppose that the Dr. Atkins guy had a reason for coming up with what he did, so if it works for your parents, then good for them. *shrugs*
Shame that you don't have pita bread in the house. Are you on the Atkins diet as well, or can you have pita bread out of the house? And what's soda bread?

Okay, I'm officially scared by the Atkins Diet craze. If people aren't eating carbohydrates, how are they getting energy?
Besides which, if they aren't baking or bringing doughnuts to work, what am I supposed to eat?
I actually wanted a pop-tart today. I'm not kidding. Cherry, nasty hard pink frosting, with those obnoxious little sugary grainy bits on top. I dunno what I was short on to make me want a pop tart, but it was frightening.

*cracks up* Me neither, oddly enough
I've been vascillating madly lately between wanting salty food and fruit. Maybe my pirate blood is finally asserting itself (not kidding there, actually, I'm descended on one side from the Scottish Clan of Gunn).

I'm craving lucozade. Probably low on energy. I'm also craving some chocolate having given it up and just my luck that my boss brought round a big tin of sweets I didn't touch any. I'm craving some noodles. I have this weird craving for dried fish and i don't even eat fish . Poptarts are ok occasionally. Once every twenty years. I can't eat sugar at breakfast though. Not that i want to. You could try haggis then En. Thats salty enough according to my brother. Well En thats the scary part its just meat and after the first week i think you get to introduce veg. Warning though it heightens your cholestrol levels. What the heck is roasted eggplant?

Meh. The trouble with fad diets... and no offence to anyone who's on it, but Atkins is a fad... is that they're not really all that proven, and there are always more consequences for changing your dietary habits than people think... what would help far more than Atkins would be if big food manufacturers quit trying to sell us junk with loads of fat in, and if people were more physically active.
Or maybe I'm just getting cynical after having lived through a few of these diet crazes Some of my fellow old farts will remember the high-fiber fad in the late 80's... that was another screwy one. For about a year there, the humans in the States were in danger of outstripping Indian cattle for methane production
This is going to sound gross... but parmesan tastes really good with a butterscotch syrup drizzle
(Roasted eggplant? I've had fried eggplant, but never roasted...?)

If you need to go on a diet just do the tried and traditional method that i do. Giving up on chocolate biscuits and crisps. Eat normally with everything else though. Eat breakfast lunch and dinner. I don't mean tiny portions either i mean a normal dinner. I've never even heard of eggplant. Cheese with sugar on? On the other hand cheese and jam sandwiches taste really nice. Its weird i've been off chocolate for two days. I feel better but i'm craving other stuff. I'm craving a raw carrot. With dip. I also seem to be craving noodles again. Why am i craving noodles?

Eggplant, I believe it's called Aubergine in the UK?
Anyway..yes, roasted eggplant. You should all come over some time and eat some, it's delicious, even when you haven't got an odd craving for it! My parents have loosened up about the whole online-strangers thing, obviously, if they're letting me visit Rita in Portugal this summer.
About fad diets: do agree with you partly, En. Though a friend of mine's dad went on the Atkin's diet 4 years ago, lost 132 lbs, and has not gained more than 5 lbs since, though he's eating a more balanced diet now. And 3 years ago my current English teacher lost about the same amount of weight on Atkin's, though he continues on it and frankly I think he has an eating disorder because he went from HUGE to skeletally-thin. I suppose it all depends on the person, then...

Oh right. Yes i agree with you eggplant is delicious.
Really? Oh thats going to be really cool for you but won't the flight be rather expensive?
I don't agree with fad diets either. The companies are just out to make more money for themselves. Thats what it seems like here the amount they charge to go on a diet.
Perhaps that guy is scared if he comes off the atkins diet then he'll put the weight back on?
