Friends and Hufflepuffs, I'm sure you've all, at one point or another, visited the Slytherin's Gallery or Code of Conduct (to any Slytherins who may have dropped by to read this: they're both very pretty ;D). And as interesting as their point of view is, what about us Huffs? What morals or sayings do you live by, or think appropriate for our house? Whether it was fierce loyalty, love for your fellow man, or a will to do good that first drew you to this house, we're all a family. So feel free (that includes you, Gryffs Ravens and Slythies!) to share a quote or ideal that Hufflepuffs live by. Awesome site!

Heh. I checked out that site, Fan. It's fantastic. I think that they could do with a few new members though .
Anyway, I want to throw out an idea to everyone about Hufflepuff House theory. Rue and I were having this discussion about HP6 (no spoilers though ) and we were talking about how the Huffs were portrayed, not just in HP6 but in the set of books as a whole. As you get to know more about the house, and since now it appears to be the "catch all" house after the Sorting Hat's song in OotP, how has that affected your perception of the house?
When Rue and I were talking about this we sort of noticed that there's this great disparity between the Huffs in the books and the way the house actually is... not just on TD but on other HP sites around the world. It's like we got this idea of what Hufflepuff is and then we developed it into what we think it should be, and sort of branched out but the books now seem to have taken a different turn from what people who consider themselves Huffs think it should be. While people in the book might not like the house for being dumb or boring or slow or whatever, real people don't seem to take that view. So... basically, where do you see Hufflepuff? What are the similarities and differences between the Huffs you know and the people in the book?

I wish there was a Ravenclaw site that cool. I don't think the house is dumb and boring even though it seems to be represented as such before the ootp. To be honest i think most people could be put into Hufflepuff who have worked hard in school or work and have a decent character. I think the conception that it is a catch all house is muddling. If this is the case why are there the other three houses which take other people? I don't think loyalty means pushover. I mean those that are more loyal to their friends defend them more than those who couldn't care less about their friends. In the book i think they are represented as the house that is not as bad as slytherin but it doesn't really have the same acclaim as Gryffindor that was the house that Dumbledore was in. To be honest i think what that means is that everyone has some Hufflepuff traits in their personality.
