Rue, if you tell me you had a dream like this as well I'll freak out, because I know you have a dog.
A few nights ago (it must have been Wednesday night here), I had a dream that I was doing something and then there were all these spiders. Now, spiders don't usually freak me out, but these ones were really big (about the size of my hand) and they were on the walls of this house and everything. My dogs were there (they're little Yorkshire terriers) and a spider jumped on Einstein. It crawled on his head and down his back (he had a little dark blue shirt on) and he was trying to get it off him and he was rolling on the ground and using his paws to push it off his nose but he couldn't get it off. And then it jumped onto my shoe and ran up my pants leg.

Ack! I hate spiders!
Yesterday night I had a very strange dream. I was outside in a pretty grassy area...like a park or something of the sort. I remember I was very sad about something and kept on talking about it but I don't remember what I was saying. I also had a baby in my arms and I began to cry. I mean a blood-wrenching cry. It started to hurt after a while... Then all of a sudden I was a passenger in a van during nightfall. There were little children on the streets in Halloween costumes! The van kept on swirling around to try to avoid them…and then I woke up.

Hmmm, I looked up a dream dictionary/interpretation website and this is what it said about spiders: (http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamthemes/bugs.htm#Spiders)
Er, I don't know how that works- the spider was on my dog.
Also, lately I've had lots of those dreams when you're like, walking and you trip over, and then you wake up. You know, the ones when you're like walking and you miss a step, gasp and you feel like you're falling, and then you realise you're awake? Only a few times, I've had that but I've been gasping and waking up just as someone was about to shoot me or hit me in the face.

I had one of those "I'm going to wake up angry" dreams about three nights ago.
I dreamt that I was working at a bookstore (A&R) and they wanted us to start work at 4:00am for an 8:30am opening. So for some reason, I did, and we were stacking books in what looked like the front of a store (like, the inside of a shopping centre). Everyone was in their work uniforms (black pants and white shirt) except me, who was wearing the clothes that I had worn IRL that day (blue raver shoes, blue pants, green MAP top with the fish eyeball on it and a black cardigan). I felt really weird not being in the right clothes, and I thought about leaving and quickly going home to get changed when the manager called everyone (right before opening). He said that I was fired for "being too chirpy". This really annoyed me and I was yelling at the manager in my dream, telling him that if he wanted boring people who weren't enthusiastic about their jobs to be around, then fine. I also threatened to report him to the equal opportunities commission or something .
Now here's the weird bit. My friend Bram works at A&R IRL, and he was in my dream stacking books. I haven't seen him for months. Then, yesterday (two days after I had this dream), I drove past him on the freeway.

i had a dream last night which sort of freaked me out, made me upset, but at the same time confused me...it is sort of in fragments, so I hope it isn't too confusing...
The tennis team I'm on is going skiing for a weekend at Snowshoe...and on the way we stop at this tennis court, and it is really nice outside, and we're suppose to have a match, but my coach doesn't let me play because she was told that red-heads weren't allowed to play because they have heart trouble...so I ended up sitting in this lodge, and then these guys came in and they locked me up in this room because I was going to give everyone else my heart condition, and I tried to climb through this window but it was really high up even though the lodge was only one story, so I shimmy down the drain pipe but it takes me all night to do it, and then when I wake up my tennis coach and all the girls had left and so I knew I had my car nearby so I climbed back up the drain got my keys, got into my car and then drove to this gas station where the guys who locked me up in the lodge were waiting and they took me back, but suddenly I was in Key West and they took me out on this boat and threw me overboard...and then I woke up.
It was just wierd.

I had a weird dream where this funny old bald man wearing a tea cosy for a hat in the middle of summer gave me an ice-cream and told me life wasn't what it seems....
I have no idea, but if someone has any idea as to what it may mean, I would greatly appriciate it.

Hmmm, I looked up the meaning of "icecream" in dreams because "tea cosy as a hat" didn't come up on the search.
This is what it said: Ice Cream
To dream that you are eating ice cream, denotes pleasure and satisfaction with your life. It is also an indicative of good luck and success in love.
To dream that you are eating ice cream that is tasteless or sour, signifies sorrow, disillusionment, or betrayal.
To see ice cream melt in your dream, symbolizes failure to realize your hopes and desires.

Koko, is there a listing in there for secret passages? Because it has been brought to my attention that nearly all my dreams involve being somewhere familiar (my various former schools, my family's homes, etc) except the places look different than they actually do IRL, and they are all riddled like Swiss cheese with secret passages.
And here's another weird one. In a lot of my dreams, I'm pregnant. Which is interesting since it's not particularly possible for that to happen
Oh! One more. I'm often wearing a lot of bulky clothing in my dreams, and some of it is scratchy like wool

I dream every night--and going to sleep is like going to the movies..sometimes it is a neat experience and some nights it isn*t. I dream long drawn out dreams with a beginning and an end.. or sometimes I dream bits and pieces, but usually it is the long ones. I dream scary things--and wake up trembling. I dream that my mate leaves me (this is common) and I wake up wanting to punch him..
I dream dumb things--I dream adventures...yeah, it is like watching a movie--you never know what to expect.

En, this is just a guess, but the being pregnant in your dreams thing is probably just your longing to nurture people you care about. I have no idea what the secret passages or scratchy clothing means. But, it may comfot rt you to know that whenever I dream of familair places they also look really different but still recognisable.
I was eating the ice-cream in my dream but I didn't get to finish it. Any idea what that means?

Hmmm. Apparently it's not too uncommon to have pregnancy dreams, En. I'll see if I can find anything specifically on dreaming about pregnancies when you can't get pregnant, but this is what I've found so far.
Pregnant To dream that you are pregnant, symbolizes an aspect of yourself or some aspect of your personal life that is growing and developing. You may not be ready to talk about it or act on it. This may also represent the birth of a new idea, direction, project or goal.
To dream that you are pregnant with the baby dying inside of you suggests that a project you had put a lot of effort into is falling apart and slowly deteriorating. Nothing works out the way you want it to.
If you are pregnant and having this dream, then it represents your anxieties about the pregnancy. In the first trimester, your dreams usually consists of tiny creatures, fuzzy animals, flowers, fruit and water. In the second trimester, your dreams will reflect your anxiety about being a good mother and concerns about possible complications with the birth. Dreams of giving birth to a non-human baby are also common during this period of the pregnancy. Finally, in the third trimester, you will tend to dream about your own mother.
(Edit: I think you should ignore that paragraph. )
For a man to dream that he got a girl pregnant, forewarns that his indiscriminate sexual activities may come back to haunt him.
====
I also found some stuff on secret passages- well, secrets really, but if they're open to you then I think this might be relevant.
Secret To dream that you or someone has a secret, represents hidden power. It suggests that something needs to emerge from your unconscious.
====
Guin, I used to have a dream when I was little that these "bad men" would come and take my mum away from me, and I'd wake up crying. Sort of like the you getting mad at your mate, but I was sad, and not angry. Maybe it means that you're going through a patch when there's something IRL (perhaps subconsciously?) you're not secure with regarding your mate?

I don*t know-- I*ve been dreaming about this for years and years and he tells me I*m nuts, but I think it stemmed from the fact that I had a couple of relationships previously where I got dumped. Who knows?
Last night I dreamed I was back in high school--but this one looked like a college and had a Starbucks and my English teacher disliked me and told me I was too "goodie two shoes" for her liking. I also carried a large bag where my dog stayed while I was in class. During one class, we were decorating cupcakes (for English class?) and someone ate mine and the teacher told me I was getting a zero for the day so I went to the principal to complain and told him I was dropping out of senior English and he was surrounded by all the football ass*t coaches--and he told me to do what I felt best. I told my mate who said he would take care of that old witch...
I have no idea why I dream such crap.

-Thinks of a line from the Matrix- Yes, I'm obsessed...
"You ever have that feeling where you're not sure if you're awake or still dreaming?"
Something like that happened to me last night. After waking up from that dream, though, I couldn't figure out why it felt so real. There was a fake looking spaceship in my dream for goodness sakes!
There was some sort of party at my house and all our guests were in the back yard. Then, all of a sudden, a little spaceship flew right above us and started shooting purple and yellow-green lasers at us. At first I thought it was just some kind of a sick joke, but the lasers sent concrete flying everywhere. At this point, I figured that I am in a nightmare so I try to wake myself up...This usually work for me, but not this time. Instead I'm alone in my backyard with the hose on besides me. I stand up thinking that I have woken up, but the little spaceship comes back into view. At this point I have completely regarded the fact that this is all just a dream and started running to the garage. I franticly searched for a place to hide. There was a long table in the corner of the room and I tried to hide under it, but I couldn’t fit. I am having a panic attack at this point and all I could do is hide behind this cabinet thingy. I hear something coming closer, but then I really do wake up from the dream. All I could do was stare at my surroundings with blank eyes.

KoNeko, the reason that happens (random scene changes, not making sense) is because you really are having a different dream.
Throughout the night, the human body goes through several cycles of REM- and nonREM- sleep, which means we drift ("hills and valleys," if you will) back and forth, between shallow and deep unconciousness. Each time we drift, we start a new dream.
Now, I'm not 100% sure about this part, but.. I think that when we go from one dream to another, the memory part of our brain retains the events of the previous dream, which then get re-incorporated into the new dream. Either that or, when we're about to wake up, the memory part of our brain remembers all the dreams we've had during the night, and puts them all together in whatever way it can think of that makes the most sense. That's why we only remember them as we're waking up.
Personally, I think the first idea there sounds more logical, but the second one is also a possibility.
With regards to my dreams, I'm usually the Protector or the Hero, always risking my life to guard or save others.
