*is working on Koko's still, sorry, very slow*
Er, Yuki... as I don't know you that well... could you help me out by telling me more about yourself, and maybe explaining a bit why you think it'd be a horse? Thanks....

May I ask what you'd give me, En? *already has an idea in mind but wants to know what Nialle thinks it would be*

Oo... lemme think about that, pkiaboo. ____________________________________________
Koko m'dear, I thought a long while about this one, because although you'll always be a very feline cartoon character in my head that didn't seem quite right for your patronus. But the other day, I was out walking along the bridge toward the courthouse (it's on a river island, a fact of which Crapidians are very proud as it makes us a bit like Paris )... and out from under the bridge flew a spotted hawk.
The hawk is a raptor, quick, sharp-eyed, and deadly accurate when hunting. But it's also a devout mate and a hard-working parent, a careful builder in nesting seasons and an adventurous traveler on the dawn and dusk winds. I think it is the hawk's keen eye, caution and accuracy which remind me of Koko the lawyer, and it's the nesting that reminds me of Koko the House Head. The hawk is competitive, but not a conqueror; it claims its hunting lands and keeps them in good order, a steward as much as a hunter, because it is part of the balance of the land's populations. And while it may seem to be a humble brown in colour, get close and you'll see the poetry shining in its feathers: shimmering blacks, whites, oranges, reds.
While most hawks are loners in hunting and in winter (when they turn white -- they can blend into their seasons), their attachment to one mate is almost unmatched in nature, and they are deeply committed to the survival of their offspring. And sometimes, you might see a council of hawks presiding over a hillside, perched in an old tree; I don't know what they're doing when they're up there, but it's an extraordinary sight, because they're all very quiet and watching each other.
Walt Whitman said something about a spotted hawk once that also reminds me of you, Ko -- he was comparing himself to the hawk and said, "I too am not a bit tamed, I too am untranslatable." When he said that, he was talking about his... for lack of an English phrase... joie de vivre, his intense passion. And you have a passion like his, for justice, for peace, for meaning. I love that about you.

Nialle, I know you're as busy as a squirrel before winter, but if my patronus just hits you sometime, then I'd love to know what it is.

Er... Ko... did that work?
Yuna, I need to think about yours some more, and it would help if you'd post up in here and tell me a little more about you and horses, and what other animals interest you too. Just so I know what you think about them.
So... I'll wait to hear from you.
Meanwhile: _____________________________________________
Robin, m'dear, there are loads of things I admire about you, but one thing that's always amazed me is your beautiful voice. You and music just go together so perfectly -- because not only do you sing divinely, you really love the music. You play with it, rewriting the lyrics and performing funny songs, and you work with it, being part of so many different choral groups. That's fantastic. And you know... I think music helps you. You've had so many hard things in your life, and I guess I've always felt music can be a great balm; and anyway, when I see the way you take music to add to all your experiences in life, I can't help thinking, music is very much part of what protects Robin, what makes her strong.
So I knew, undeniably, that whatever your patronus might be, it had to be able to sing.
Then the other morning, I was lying in bed with the window open, and I heard this sound that both broke my heart and made me smile. It was the call of the mourning dove.
When I was a little kid and spent summers with my grandparents on the farm, there was a nest of mourning doves outside the west bedroom window. Every year. They always came back. They raised two or three little doves in the nest up in the old maple, funny-looking little things, and every summer they were back. Family birds. Quiet birds, usually, except at dusk. I fancy they liked the farm in part because my grandfather and his father had driven most of the falcons and vultures away; those bigger birds sometimes prey on doves. So do humans, but we never did. So they came back each year.
They're lovely creatures, like you, and they have beautiful voices. They are affectionate, cuddling often with their mates and children. They choose a place in the world and love to come back. And though they may seem delicate at first glance, they are Iowan birds. They can survive about anything. They do.
So whenever I hear a mourning dove, I'll think of you. And whenever sadness gets to you, love, conjure the thought: we all believe that you're a tough little bird, and we all listen for your song.

Nialle love, I, like Willow before, have been too touched to be able to write a coherent response until now, when I'll have a stab at it. *ahem* Anyway, I have to admit that the first time I read my patonus, all I did was nod in agreement with what you wrote. I'm so touched by the fact that you have taken the time to delve into my inner self and come up with this. You don't know this (and this is also why I've taken so long to reply), but I've always had an affinity with large predatory birds, particularly hawks and eagles. I've always loved how they're so free, so independent and so... wild. In my own life I aspire to be like them... So anyways. Thanks for my patonus. Thankyou so much.

Okay. I need to talk to Yuna more before I can figure hers out, and that will go for you too, Tigress. Could you tell me a little more about yourself? What's important to you, what you like, who you are, who you want to be?
pkia - *still working on that* _____________________________________________
Rue dearest, it's weird, sometimes I have dreams about people from TD, only in my dreams they're represented by the avatars in their profiles. You know, like you used to have that Hufflepuff crest for your pic forever and ever? Even after I met you, sometimes you still appeared in my dreams as that shield with a white badger on
But badger never quite seemed to fit. It was always -- I'd think about badgers, and Hufflepuff, and everything, and it just didn't quite fit.
Then I reread The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, and I realised what was up. When I was putting faces on the characters as I imagined my way through the book -- I got to the part about Mrs. Beaver, and she was so you, it cracked me up. She fussed over food for the children, and thought of all the practical things to do, and packed clean handkerchiefs, and had opinions but kept them quiet except when something really pushed her buttons -- and her two buttons were her house and the human children. Heh, I could just see you as Mrs. Beaver.
And really -- what is a beaver? A small but hardworking mammal capable of constructing giant dams, piece by piece, week by week, to create ponds that sustain all kinds of other life: marsh plants, the bugs that live on the plants, the fish and spiders that eat the bugs, the birds that eat the fish and spiders, the deer that drink in the pond, the wolves and other big predators that eat the bigger animals -- all this from the work of one patient creature who completes and maintains the dam while raising a family inside it. You do this, o most Huffly of Hufflepuffs, both on TD and IRL.
This, and you have those amazingly wonderful big hands -- which you carry gracefully -- and you're surprisingly strong, like beavers are. Plus, you have that really thick dark hair, and it's shiny like platypus or beaver fur. Heh, now I'm being silly.
Love you, m'dear. _____________________________________________

Let's see. I love acting and singing. I want to be an actress/singer when I grow up. I like rock music as oppose to pop/rap. I love musicals. My friends are very important to me, I always try whatever I can do to help my friends and make them happier. I'm determind, independant, short, energetic, hate sports. I love tigers and unicorns. Tigers are the most beautiful creatures on earth. I love the supernatural; vampires, demons, witches, magic, mystical energy, esp etc. I think it's brilliant. I love attention and I love hugs. I always hug people.
That good? too much too little?

Hmm. *thinks* What makes tigers beautiful? What is it that's beautiful about them?
And... why are you applying to Slytherin?
And... what's your worst fear?
Stop me if I get too nosy

I'm not very sure about tigers. I've always been fasinated by them. They're stripes, how strong and big they are. They're felines, and I love cats. I also have empathy on them, of how they've become endangered. I want to be in Slytherin mainly because I feel that slytherins are strong. I'm not trying to degrade the other houses, just that I've always felt that people in slytherin were strong minded and capable of achieving anything they wanted. My worst fear is needles. I hate needles. Nothing else is scarier or more frightening than needles. Nothing.

*chews on this* Okay, a couple more.
- What is your picture in your profile, and why did you pick it?
- What's the most mature thing you've ever done?
Then, if you don't mind, I sometimes take a little while to think through it. That cool?

That's fine with me.
The picture is of Buffy and Spike from an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. It's not actually Buffy however, someone else, Faith, had switched their bodies. In that scene, Faith ('buffy') is teasing Spike that she could have anyone she wanted, even him. That she could have sex with him and put him through pain but he'd still want it, just because she's powerful. The text in pink, I put myself with photoshop (which is unreadable) and it says "..make you pop like warm champagne". I picked it because it's one of my favourite scenes and favourite monologues of Faith's. It's her showing that she can be seductive and get whatever she wants since she's the slayer and all powerful and everyone wants her or wants to be her.
Ack! Most mature thing I've ever done...I can't think of anything...I guess...a friend of mine tried to pressure me into drugs but I simply said 'no' and walked away.

This topic is so fascinating, hey would you mind trying to figure out what my Patronus is for me when you get a chance, En? It would mean alot to me. Thank you. Also Tigress, you've done some pretty mature things throughout the years. Well, if not considered "mature" they were atleast what you wanted. You got a lead in the musical, you found out who your real friends were, you gotten in to the school you wanted to go to, you've acheived alot of goals. Rock on babe. , Martha
