I guess now we know what Dumbledore would have really seen in the Mirror of Erised.

Now we know a lot of things. heh.
OH! I had a really ironic moment....
when I read the part where Lupin and Tonks make Harry the godfather of Teddy, I put the book down and said aloud, "Are you sirious?!" and then I took a moment to appreciate the irony.

Hey kiddies. Long time no see!
I really quite enjoyed The Deathly Hallows. I liked the (what I shall call) Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Narnia and Matrix references
I was disappointed that Ginny wasn't involved more. She should have joined Harry, Ron and Hermione in my opinion!
I thought the epilogue was way too rushed in the end. I'm glad J.K. Rowling is considering the encyclopedia idea.
On the subject of names: What was Harry thinking?! James Potter and Lily Potter are already taken in my opinion! And why didn't Ginny get a choice in the naming of the kids? (This is a problem I am having with my girlfriend. Their names can't rhyme with my surname, or end in 'S', so no Sirius S*mumbles*... ) I reckon George would have named one of his kids Fred.
Three cheers for Neville "Freedom Fighter" Longbottom! I always hoped he would deliver the final blow to Voldemort (being the Almost-Chosen-One), and destroying a Horcrux made me happy.
Severus almost topped my list of favourite characters after Half Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows. Sirius is still number 1 though.
Draco disarmed Albus in "The Lightning Struck Tower" I believe. I thought it was quite lucky for Harry to "defeat" Draco and claim ownership of the Elder Wand. I really enjoyed the Battle of Hogwarts though, and how Harry mentally defeated Tom Riddle as well.
Kreacher and Dudley character flips were a bit odd, but I enjoyed them. Yay for Dudley throwing off the oppression of mum and dad!
If J.K.Rowling was to write more books (Apart from the encyclopedia) I could only imagine her writing of Voldemort's first rise to power. That would include the Marauder's, the original Order of the Phoenix etc. I'm sure the kids in the epilogue won't have a worse bad guy than Volde!
I'm late for "The Regulatory Environment of Business"!

Rubes!
Good point about Kreacher - I forgot to mention that. I definitely liked how his character changed. (And all it took was a fake locket. )
I sorta doubt JK Rowling will write another novel about the wizarding world. After the encyclopedia, it sounds like she wants to try different novels. I'd still be anxious to read anything she writes, though.

I don't know what I thought of the book. It was not really what I expected, but yeah, it was still pretty enjoyable.
The thing that kept plaguing me throughout the entire thing (and I know this seems so ridiculously trivial) is that I kept thinking "where is Mad-Eye's body?" because, as far as we know, it was never recovered. I was hoping that it would show up as some kind of Inferi or something, but that didn't happen.
I don't think I liked the King's Cross chapter. It was really... contrived. And are we to assume that the fetal crying child thingy is Voldie? Why? For some reason that scene reminded me of that bit in The Matrix when Neo and the gang could have whatever they needed appear in front of them, like how Harry was like, "I'm all naked and stuff" and then his robes appear. I'm glad Dumbledore was back in some shape or form, but I didn't like the whole "this is a quasi dream sequence" quality that the King's Cross chapter had. I really liked his back story though, although I think the change in character for Dumbledore was too much to digest in one book. I didn't expect him to be perfect, but still... that's a lot of Dumbledore being sneaky (and not in a good way) to take in.
I think my favourite chapter was definitely the one about Snape. Well, even the bit before that when he was dying (and the way in which that happened just confirms to me just how much of a jerk Voldie really was) and the memories were flooding out of him, and then Harry really needed to see what made Snape the way he was. His tale was so tragic. (I also liked the bit of backstory they put in there about Petunia and how she wanted to go to Hogwarts and was rejected; I thought that was awesome. )
I'm SO glad the final battle took place in the Great Hall. It was just fitting. And I liked Neville's part in the story at this point too, with the burning hat. The bit where they had all the dead just lying in the middle of the hall was... sobering. And then I had to go back and reread that Tonks and Lupin were amongst them because I didn't believe it. And Fred? I think the fact that he was half of the twins made it worse, because they have never been separated in the books. In a way, I'm glad it wasn't Ron, but I was secretly hoping Percy would do something sacrificial and redeem himself and then die. But yeah, I'm glad that Percy came back to the good side.
House elves... hahahahaha. I don't know why, but the image of an army of house elves brandishing steak knives and pouring into the Great Hall was just so hilarious for me. I LOVED Kreacher's character in the story though; all that shows is that a little kindness goes a long way. It just made me really sad for some reason that he went to the effort of making them steak and kidney pie and they would never get to eat it. And as for Dobby... gah. I'm so heartless, I thought that his death was all nice and noble and stuff, but it still seemed sort of contrived that he just conveniently appeared in that part of the book, just to die.
I didn't like the Epilogue at all. Waaaay too cheesy and contrived. The naming thing was cute, with Albus and Lily and everyone else, but that, and the pairings, just induced too much eye rolling on my part. And Draco named his kid SCORPIUS or something. What was he thinking?! In a way, that's sort of fitting, because it's like a dangerous creature and whatnot, but still. What an awful name to put on your kid. And yeah, I wish there was a little bit more information in the epilogue about what the wizarding world was like at that time. Is there more house integration at Hogwarts? We got a hint of that at the end when people didn't sit necessarily at their house tables anymore, but does it continue? What about the relationship between muggles and wizards? I think there's still a big distinction between the two, because we see the thing with Ron learning to drive and how people look at the Potters weirdly when they show up at the station, but still, I want to know if 19 years from now makes the muggle/wizarding world any more progressive.
Best line in the book? It has to be "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!!". That was the greatest moment ever.
