We don't exactly have a sorting hat here, though we do have loads of people who would be happy to help you figure out which house is right for you. You can visit them in the Newbie Commons, or the threads devoted to each house, in the Hogwarts Express.
Here's how joining a house works on Trap Door 2:
When you first sign up, the status under your name will say "1st Year" and you'll be considered a newbie. So, you might want to go to the Newbie Commons and look around. There are threads for newbies to talk or role-play in, and there are threads for each of the houses so you can get to know what each one is like. Posting in one of these threads is a good way to get to know the people in that house... and to get the attention of the house heads.
When you are ready to join a house, go to that house's Common Room (from the main page). Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff have threads called something like "So You Want to Be A ____." Make one post in that thread explaining who you are and why you would make a good member of that house. (Tip: Say something creative, explain why you believe in the house value (Gryffindor = courage, Ravenclaw = wisdom, Hufflepuff = loyalty, Slytherin = power), or show that you can be a good friend to the people who are already in the house -- that's what gets a House Head's attention.) (Slytherin will let you know personally if they are interested in accepting you.)
If you are accepted -- and it can take a while to get accepted, sometimes as much as a month -- you will get a letter from the Heads of House. They will tell you the password to the bank and Secret Room and explain how to weigh in.
Generally, in order to be accepted, you need to have come here more than four different days, you need to have more than 100 posts, and you need to make sure that you are following the SPAM rules. If you meet these criteria, and more than a couple of weeks have passed since you asked to join, try sending a private message to the House Heads and asking if there is another reason you haven't been accepted. Just don't forget that the House Heads are often very busy people in real life -- so please be patient with them!

Headmasters - me and hermoine. We try to be nice and helpful, and we are happy to answer your questions or help you with your concerns, but don't ever take sparkly marshmallows from either of us.
