This is a Lord of the Rings Fanficton. It is actully the second story i wrote about this character, but if you like it i will post the first later. Anyway the compleate storys only just hit the editers block so here's the beguining. Enjoy Chapter 1 Colbolt's hooves thundered across the ground. Stray branches snapped beneath his powerful movements. Sat on top I pulled out my bow, fitted one of my hand-made arrows to it and aimed. Quite away ahead I could hear my target crashing threw the undergrowth. It was an Imp. A creature that only lived in Mirkwood. It was a relatively small animal that likes to feast upon young Elves and the babies of Men. I had got to this one too late to save the child, but at least the parents would have the small satisfaction of knowing the beast that killed their son was dead. The thing with Imps is they are small, but fast. Amazingly fast and agile making them impossible to hit even by the best archers. But I had a little trick to help me. I muttered a word to the arrow before letting it fly. I smiled as I watched it go. It headed straight for the imp. Turning to look behind itself the Imp saw the arrow and dogged out the way. The arrow was now heading straight for a tree. Still I smiled. The arrow suddenly shot to the side and plunged straight into the Imp’s back. It fell down dead. I grinned, a sick smile as I rode over to the carcase. It was a dark brown animal, almost human only to small and to thin with a large head, huge feet and muscular legs. As I lifted the beast’s body onto my horse I could still see the young boys blood on its fingers from when it wrapped its fingers around his throat and chocked him. Leaping back onto Colbot I carried the body back to the house I had found it at. I laid it down beside the small boy. He looked so sad. Suddenly I heard the door open. His parents were home. Quickly I dropped a leaf on the boy. It had an F scorched on it. My mark. Then I was gone. Out the door and away. I heard the mother scream and the father cry. I could listen to no more. If only I had been faster, their boy would still be alive. You may be shocked by this. You may find it strange that I chased an imp I had no connection to. You find it strange that my arrow followed the Imp. You may find it strange that I didn't stay to console the parents. But I don't. I understand what I did. I understand what I do. I do it because I’m not like any one on this planet I do it because I’m a wizard/Elf.

I sat back and, feeling the change of balance, Colbolt came to a skidding stop out side our home. I was living in a cave; the entrance is hidden from view by a waterfall. Kind of romantic you might think but you probably wouldn't like it if you got wet every time you wanted to find some food! The waterfall fell into a small pool, surrounded by the forest of Mirkwood. It was situated towards the very edge of the forest, but deep enough within the forest to ensure I was left alone most of the time.
I removed Colbolt's makeshift bridle and, with a quick look to check I was alone, ducked under the water and into my cave. Once inside I blew a little flame onto a torch. One of my specialty’s, breathing fire. I could now see my ever-familiar surroundings. I was walking down a tunnel, which was very narrow, and I had to duck to stop from hitting my head. The walls dripped with water every so often, water that had leaked down from the river running above. After a short march I reached an opening into a largish cave.
It wasn't much, but it was my home. I fixed the torch onto a bracket on the wall and quickly blew fire into a few more dotted around, spreading light over the whole room. In it was a small fire pit in one corner, a bed made of leaves and moss in another. Beside the fire sat a few old tin pots and a large jug, half filled with fresh water from the spring that began at the back of the cave and eventually ran to feed the river over my head.
I suppose I should explain my self a little now. I started life living in Rivendale with the Lord Elrond, ruler over this peaceful Elven community acting as my father. A select few knew he wasn't, because mostly I was in hiding. A fierce council of Wizards were after me, known as The Council of the White were after me. I believe they had chased my father out of Middle earth. The truth was he ran away because he couldn't handle the fact that he was going to have a child, and that the elf he loved was going to die and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
You see he would have known that giving birth the a wizard would be to much for my mother, he would have known that she would die, so he ran. I don't blame him, I’m sure he will be back. He is alive. He will come back for me. I know he still cares about me.
At 100 years old Lord Elrond, and the King of Mirkwood (another settlement of Elves, this one much more like a busy city) decided it was time I went on a journey, to find the council and persuade them I was no risk to them. Sadly all I did was anger the arrogant fools so they still wanted me dead. It was at this point I went into training. For 75 years I lived among men in there capital, hiding from the world. Learning Magic from dusty books in their archives. Practising spells in there secluded gardens.
When I finally came out of hiding I went to Mirkwood for while I was on my journey I had fallen in love with one of my companions. A prince of Elves by the name of Legolas. In Mirkwood the council came to get me. It was a hard battle but with a stroke of luck I made it threw. Just. I came hear, to the edge of Mirkwood, where there are many little villages of Men and Elves, even a few dwarves. I protect them from the dangers that lurk in this wood, using my magic in small amounts to destroy the creatures that hunt their children. Only ever in small amounts you see, because the council can sense when I use large amount of magic and, wherever they are, what ever they are doing I doubt they have forgiven me. No one knows I’m hear, I don't even let birds watch me enter my home.

I began to look around for whatever food I could find. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It was reaching winter too so I couldn't find any outside. I had to eat so I decided to take a risk. I pulled out my old Rivendale cloak and dusted it off. It looked o.k. Pulling it up over my head I snuck out of my home.
There was no one around outside. Lucky. It was just beginning to get dark so I hurried Colbolt along quickly to the nearest Elvin village. Where I was heading for was a simple little place. Everyone knew each other, they all lived happily together. Mostly they lived along the main street, which ran almost straight, with a few shops dotted along where elves could get food in the harsh winter months.
When I reached the edge of the village I could see quite a commotion was going off. A large crowd was gathering about half way down the street. They all seemed exited and happy. I jumped from Colbolt so I could blend in then, pulling my hood up; I merged in with the crowd.
"What’s going on?" I asked an elf I had been pushed up next to in the crowd. "Royalty has come to bless the village. Prince Legolas has come!" She said, incredulous that I didn't know what was happening. Cold rushed threw me. Legolas. He was here. Just a few feet away. I felt faint.
I suppose I best explain about Legolas and me now. It’s a hard story, just as strange as the rest of my life. When it was decided I would face the council had to travel to them. Legolas and another elf came with me. We instantly fell in love, but only dared speak of our love for a few days, before I ran. A few days of bliss in the forest and then 75 years of pain being kept from him. By the time I returned he was married to another. We realised our paths lead us in separate directions. We could never be together, so, once again, I left.
We hadn't seen each other since. I had tired to convince myself I didn't care about him. Of course, soon as I knew he was close I realised now I was wrong. I couldn't face him, but by now I was in the middle of the crowd. I was pushed this way and that in a mad heave of bodies. I notice suddenly a place where the crowd was thinner.
I pushed towards it and was thrown threw I gap, right into the centre of the crowd. I fell to my knees, my hood totally covering my face. A strong arm reached down and pulled me up. "Are you alright Miss..?" Legolas asked. Slowly I stood up and he could suddenly see my face. A look flashed onto his face. It was a mix of pain, fear and anger. But mostly it was shock. "Fenolen?" He questioned. I could do nothing but blink and nod, immense sadness on my face. "Holy -"
I would not let him see my pain. Seeing his face again, made me feel like a once-healed wound in my chest had been ripped open. My heart raced, my eyes searched his pale face, looking for 1 detail, just a single detail I could concentrate on to stop my self falling in love again. I couldn't find one. I would not let him see my pain.
"Well that’s a fine reaction," I said sarcastically, smiling. "I'm sorry, but this is, you, I just can't believe it" he stumbled over his words. He was still totally shocked to see me. "What, did you think I just dropped off the face of the earth?" I was probably being a little bit too nasty, the crowed which still surrounded us didn't seem the kind of gang that would take kindly to my insulting their Prince. "I sorry, I guess, I just wasn't expecting to ever see you again. Do you want to talk? We’ve go a lot to catch up on,” He asked. Well why not? "Sure, but umm." I looked round at the crowed, listening to our every word. "Yes" He muttered. Then raising his voice he called out to them, "Thank you all for welcoming me to your village, I have had a most pleasurable day. I look forward to visiting next year." Slowly the crowed began to disperse, and Legolas lead me towards the forest. "Come with me" He muttered in my ear, "We have much to say."
