Here you can post your poetry. *points to the title of the room* Kindly refrain from posting other peoples' poetry, because the really good poets (Auden, Shakespeare, "Keating", etc.) might intimidate the amateurs (such as myself.) Also, please post all of your poetry, but only the poetry, in a color. That way, people who don't want to read any fan mail or other messages can easily skim through and only read the poetry. So. . .fire away. I'll post one of my own, just to get the thing rolling properly. When You are a Woman Who Thinks
by Gen
you realize that you don't have to care what all the other people think; and you don't have to be what all the other people want you to be; you don't have to dress in what all the other people want to see; you don't have to say what all the other people want to hear; or even listen to what other people have to say. you can tell them off if you want, and still expect them to accept you. they probably won't. but then they will no longer be living up to your expectations, instead of the other way around. and then you will have the upper hand.

Um I had to write this for my English class, I didn't really like writing this because we had parameters... But here it is... (hehe forgot the color)
A child falls into darkness, Crying for sympathetic ears. Feathers float into the wilderness, And rain down like thousands of tears.
A man walks through a forest, Searching for something that was lost. A woman sits alone in mist, Waiting for the unknown, holding her cross.
The chance that they would meet, At this particular moment in time. Underneath the never-shedding fur, was quite a feat, Not immediately seen by the other, but acknowledged with a “Hi, I’m…”
Neither understood the circumstances, When the mist dispersed. The meaningful, deep glances, In the lonely feathers they were immersed.
When all was fair, A child with a cold, sad stare, Appeared from the feathers floating in the air, And cried to be held and given their love and care

This one was fun to write. My neighbour does this thing called "Quote of the Day." She has a blackboard in her house and lots of chalk. And if you can think of a good quote or invent one yourself, you can write it up. And one day, I just started a poem out of the blue. Black Oblivion
Over the skies and under the seas Is a place of Black Oblivion Blacker than navy blue times thirty And Oblivion deeper than slate It is a calmness, Like the shores of Love

It's funny that you said that; that was how I started the poem, by thinking about the word oblivion. I heard it in a song once when I was much younger, looked it up in the dictionary, and have loved it ever since.

[glow=red,2,300] LifeI'm wonderfully happy I came into the world, I love its sunshine, its clouds, its fight or flight atittude. Even though it's not perfect and it wobbles on its axis like a child's toy top. It's small and inconspicuous, horribly predictable, ingeniously eccentric. I would have liked to go inside the world and see the foundations of institutions from below, tree roots grasping at straws, the world turned upside down. However, all I will ever see as a child I will have to see through books and pictures, and my mind. You must trade with people to see the wonders of the world and I, I have nothing left to trade. I'm still waiting for my moment of fame or maybe that's past by and I just didn't notice. Nevertheless, I'm sure that I have friends and enemies in every corner of the globe. Sometimes I think I hear them calling me and I wake up to a dream. Such good friends that we never need to meet-- to know that the other is there. Our thoughts are one. I have not made many enemies but, if I do I want them to be strong. I am stronger than few yet weaker than many. My hope is that I will know many interesting people and become infused with their cultures before I pass away. I want no secrets kept, no adventurous plans unmade, no personalities hidden from view. As mine was and is and always will be. Without that shell we are naked. Open to the stings and barbs mankind throws. Maybe to stop the running Behind masks of Solid Matter and hiding behind trees when we see our lovers coming. we need to rid ourselves of the scorn we have for human Beings [/glow]

That was really good Suzy. I wrote a few poems about life, but they all centered on this one rough bit I was going through, so they are all a good bit depressing. . .go figure. Maybe I'll post one later anyway, but I'll have to find it first. . .
