I got a couple of books for my birthday so I'm making my way through a boxed set of Roald Dahl Books (Esio Trot, The Witches, Going Solo, The Twits, George's Marvellous Medicine, The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me, Danny the Champion of the World, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda) and also Stephen Hawking's A Btief History of Time, and Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe (which is written in 18th century English! Hoy!)

ESIO Trot is cool. So is A Brief History of Time, but only if you're a science nut
I'm reading 'Tuesdays With Morrie' by Mitch Albom. It's very sad, but it's a great book.

Yeah, I love Esio Trot. It's so cute, but you know, I realised that when you read Dahl stories as an adult there are some insinuations you may not have picked up on as a kid!
I'm glad there are pictures in A Brief History of Time, even if they're scientific diagrams.

Yeah, the pictures are nice and simple, and they explain really well, i think.
Roald Dahl is kinda like the Simpsons- there's soooo much you don't pick up on as a kid

You read The Wee Free Men Nie? I bought it, and will be receiving it in exchange for the vouchers(the whole prize day procedure) together with Lirael(now I know where you had got your name from;)) and Sabriel.
The book I'm reading is turning out to be quite interesting too. You'll want to read Sabriel first, then Lirael, and then you'll want to get hold of Abhorsen to finish up the trilogy. The Wee Free Men was great. I'm looking forward to getting A Hat Full Of Sky next. ;D And I'm now looking for another book to read. I think I might get myself one when I go to the city a little later in the week. Actually, I should probably get myself two or three to tide me over till I can get a few more.

Right. They're in that order. I always get them confused.
I'll be finishing the book tonight, so I won't have The Wee Free Men yet. I'll probably start reading another book in Maltese(I choose them because they're always so short. I prefare reading books in English. More imagination/ ease of language = more hours of reading fun!)

I'm currently reading 'The Purple Emporer' by Herbie Brennan, the 2nd in the Faerie Wars series (i believe there's supposed to be 4 books total... and interesting number I thought) It's good! After I finish it, I'm going to read Wicked by Gregory Macguire, then over Winter Break I'm going to reread all of the Harry Potters! whee!

I've heard about that one. Is it good Panda?
I've started reading a Maltese book called "The Cave of the Devil" or something in those lines. It has nothing to do with satanic stuff or anything like that. Just old Maltese superstitions and minds full of cobwebs(old mentality), wrapped up in a good story.

Thing to remember about Roald Dahl: he wrote stories for Playboy before his kids' books got big. If you get a chance, do read Kiss, Kiss, which is a collection of his stories for adults (and they are definitely... weird. Macabre. Kind of Harold and Maude-ish. In a good way though).
Stephen Hawking rocks my socks. Though, actually, the book of his that I recommend most is The Universe in a Nutshell, which would make a great textbook for Physics for Non-Physics-Students. And speaking of the Simpsons, remember when Hawking was on the show?
Wicked was brilliant! I loved Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, but Wicked was even better... yum.
I haven't had time to read anything since I last posted () but I've put aside a book that looked interesting - it's called Salamander and it's by Thomas Wharton - anyone know anything about it?

I think I've heard of that book, probably while roaming some online book websites. (I know about the whole you-hate-online-bookstores thing En, but the only reason I do shop online for books is that there is a realy restriction on the number of books you can find in bookshops here. Besides, you find bookstores, whose agents are actually online book websites, like Amazon. Apart from that I go on there to see what new books are coming out and what eye-plucking awesomeness there is in the world of literature)
I've found some reviews for it, and I think you'll it En.It does involve a bookstore.

I like The Purple Emperor so far... and I'm almost done. But I liked Faerie Wars better I think. It sorta all depends on how this one ends. Thanks for the good news about Wicked En! I'm really excited to read it!

I got my books! After a complete fiasco when I went on stage. I've started reading The Wee Free Men now. I only managed to read like 5 pages from the book because it was nearly midnight and my eyesight was blurring. But, even from the synopsis from the back, you can say it's pure genius!

Oh, Zeph, I can't really hate online bookstores because I am one (: but yeah, I do prefer going into shops - but you are perfectly excused, because when one lives on an island one's options for places to go are limited. Maybe I should open a branch store on Malta then? Umm, yeah.
Panda, do tell what you think about it when you've finished. If you like it, I know a lot more of its ilk
Lianne - I admit, though, that I liked Universe in a Nutshell at first just because it had a Shakespeare reference for a title (It's from Hamlet for anyone who didn't know.)
Anyway... I am looking forward to Salamander, but I have to be good and finish my big paper about Giacomo Joyce first. (It's supposed to be 20 pages but! get this: I am a sneaky sylph and I talked my professor into letting me write a whole paper about... sorting James Joyce characters! Muahahaha! Really - Stephen is Slytherin, Giacomo is Ravenclaw, Bloom is Hufflepuff and Earwicker is Gryffindor. And then I get to do the leading female characters too. Anyone got suggestions on that? ;D)

If I'm still around. My love for foreign countries grows stronger every day. Now I've got a pretty concrete idea for a story. All I need is the ability to write it as perfectly as it is pictured in my mind. So yeah...
Oh yeah now I remember. I've tried looking it up but Iowa is far too big and Google does not always have the answer.
