The Harry Potter books are amazing. Nobody can deny that. But, during those times when we pick something else in our hands, which book is it?
Which book are you reading at the moment?

I'm reading the 4th installment of Georgia Nicholson's diary; Dancing In My Nuddy-Pants by Louise Rennison. I'm very excited for it (almost done)!!
I just finished The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks. It didn't live up to my expectations, kind of disapointed, but a good read if you haven't read A Walk To Remember, The Notebook, or The Guardian.
I'm also looking into this book that explains investing to kids. Ages at least 10-17 I'm assuming as it states that as a minor, one can't deal with their own investments. It's a good read and helps me understand that aspect of the world so that when I'm older and possibly involved with it, I can understand it better.

I'm reading the whole Sherlock Holmes collection. I've just started it. I'll probably stop at one point and read something else though, then continue with it. It's a rather long book. Big in size, small print.
Li, have you by any chance read the Dark Tower series? I was going to buy it, but my dad suggested I shouldn't because it's all horror. Or maybe I should ask En on this.

I love Sherlock Holmes! Seriously, those stories are one of my biggest obsessions. Seriously, seriously. And the Tv Series, with Jeremy Brett! I read the whole series during one single Summer... my father has every book, so... it's easier to read separate books than a big one with all the stories there. At least for me. I don't feel so much "weight" upon my shoulders.
Oooohh, but I love Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
I'm currently re-reading Memoirs of A Geisha, and loving it even more than I did before. Seriously. Today at 7 am, after breakfast, instead of going back to bed I stayed up devouring two more chapters. Which is unusual, sleep is my main priority.

I've just started reading A Study in Scarlet and I think it's fantastic! I don't understand all of the stuff with those theories and everything, but the way Arthur Conan Doyle describes Sherlock Holmes, especially in the first chapter, is really amazing!
Well, I bought it because my dad asked me to choose one book while he was buying online, and I thought I would like to read a Sherlock Holmes one. I saw the one I have, and thought "Bingo! If I buy the complete set, I'll have it all and won't have to buy the books seprarately. Then when I come to buy another book, I can buy something different. ;D"
I don't like buying a series, or trilogy unless I can buy all of them, because I'll be sure to miss something. Like Harry Potter, first I read COS(which didn't attarct my attention much ), then I read GOF, then PS, and then POA. And of course after them OOTP. So everything was jumled up.
Okay, enough on HP. That's all right Li. No worries.

I'm currently reading the Mistress of the Spices and Sister of My Heart (both by Chitra Banjerjee Divakaruni). and I just finished the Queen's Own Fool by Jane Yolen & Robert J. Harris ysterday evening. I really enjoyed it and it was one of those books that I couldn't put down. It was about Mary Queen of Scots told by her personal fool, a fool was described as being a wise fool that had the queen's ear to let her know that she was still mortal and to give advice through fables, songs, and poetry.
Sister of My heart is set in India in the eighties and is about two girls who thought they were counsins but were so close they considerd themselves twins and were inseperable. They were born the same day and were best best friends though they were completely opposites. It's really good so far (though I fell asleep reading it because iI was up at 1:00 in the morning and I thought I'd rest my eyes for just one minute).
The Mistress of the Spices is an interesting book. I can't really describe it that well so I'll just write what it says on the back of the book because that gives you a pretty good idea: 'The Mistress of Spices is the story of Tilo, a young woman born in another time, in a faraway place, who is trained in the ancient art of spices and ordained as a mistress charged with special powers. Once fully initiated in a rite of fire, the now immortal Tilo- in the gnarled and arthritic body of an old woman- travels through time to Oakland, California, where she opens a shop from which she administers spices as curatives to her customers. An unexpected romance with a handsome stranger eventually forces her to choose between the supernatural life of an immortal and the vicissitudes of modern life. Spellbinding and hynotizing, The Mistress of the Spices is a tale of joy and sorrow and one special woman's magical powers.
So those are the books I'm reading right now, as you can see I tend to read more than one book at once.

Funnily enough, right now I'm reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban...again. However, I plan on finishing it very soon because my list of books to read is getting incredibly long and I want to get started on it. I'm looking forward to reading the new book by David Sedaris and some of the older ones by Augusten Burroughs, among others.

I'm reading the HP series again too, to find some clues especially from OOTP for HBP. I've reread PS, stopped, when I finish A Study in Scarlet, I'll read COS.

*Shrugs.* I like it because if I get bored at a certain part of the book I can just read the other book I'm reading and then come back to it a little later.

I usually choose a book which I'm sure I'm going to enjoy reading when I'm buying. Sometimes they exceed my expectations, some other times, maybe not. But I like to check on new books and stuff, read the reviews and everything...and keep a folder called "Books I liked " filled with links of books I'd like to buy.

a mystery series by Harlen Coben... but am anxious to read Faerie Wars (now out in paperback) and the M. Haddix book "Running out of Time" which the publisher has stated that the new movie The Village is based upon....possible lawsuit. Faerie Wars is excellent... i discovered it while waiting at midnight for the 5th harry potter book oh, and the sequel is gonna be out in the coming fall! Also... in reguards to Running out of Time... i called the ending to the villiage because of that book... when i asked my friends if they had noticed any similarites they had never heard of the book, and thought I was making it all up in my head, ha, ha! but... excellent book... one of my favourites from, hmmm... 5th or 6th grade, lol.
