Well, good news guys. It seems that the Quidditch World Cup might be in GOF.
"JOINING THE TOP BRASS WITH HARRY
12:30 - 02 July 2004 A Louth-area businessman has been left spellbound after his firm was selected to provide props for the next Harry Potter film.
The dream order has been received by Jonathan Tebbs, owner of A Barn Full of Brass Beds. He is restoring nine beds at his Conisholme workshops for The Goblet of Fire film, the latest in the Harry Potter series.
He has also been working on a folding chair and will provide a unique iron to be used in a kitchen scene.
A delighted Mr Tebbs said: "When they first contacted me, I thought it was a wind up. But these things don't happen very often.
"I was desperate to do it. It was the wackiness of it. I was on tenterhooks for a month until they ended up buying the beds."
The brass beds will be prepared by Grimsby firm Fenners, Wickham Road, Grimsby Docks, before being brought back to their former glory by Mr Tebbs.
Set dressers for Warner Bros have paid precise attention to detail and want brass beds for the scenes.
The Hogwarts gang visit Ron Weasley's parents and are camping in a tent. Although from the outside it is a small tent, once inside it opens up into a large dormitory with bunk beds and a double bed for the Weasleys. All the props will come from A Barn Full of Brass Beds.
In previous Potter films, Julie Walters, who plays Ron Weasley's mother, has been seen to be in to "wacky old things".
So the brass beds fitted the bill for Warner Bros.
They have been supplied for the same price as if someone ordered one from his website and are about £300 for a single and £800 for a larger bed.
Mr Tebbs' busy workshop was recently visited by set dressers from the film company.
The 40-year-old said: "This is a great business and it is fun. This is the icing on the cake. It is such a new thing to be doing. All these beds tell a story."
And he told of the professionalism of Warner Bros.
He said: "The set dressers are interesting people, very down to earth. they think if a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well.
"Maybe they hope the attention to detail will rub off on the actors and if they are around interesting stuff it will help them perform better."
Mr Tebbs and his wife Naomi, who is expecting their first child, moved to Conisholme more than two years ago.
The couple had previously lived in Louth."

I've read this on Mugglenet and personally I think it's terrible! They're cutting really good stuff from GOF! This isn't exactly official, or anything. So some of the things might not be true.
I used to work with a movie review site, and still get reports from some people who think I still do work there. Nowadays I don't use them, but this one I thought I would pass onto you. It contains MAJOR SPOILERS on the upcoming GOF film. My contact got about a half hour alone with a script while doing some work connected with the film. She didn't get to read it through and through, obviously, but got to do a good look of what's in and what's not. Here's a breakdown: (BEGIN SPOILERS) What's been cut: the SPEW storyline altogether, opening scene with the Dursleys, the Hogwarts express (there are shots of it, but nothing in the train,) and the wand weighing. What's still in: Creepy opening scene with Voldemort, Wormtail and Nagini. The Dark Mark scene, the "Potter Stinks" bit, the skrewts, the horntail challenge, the merpeople challenge (should be very cool!) The final challenge, although the spider may NOT be in it. (My source didn't remember seeing it.) The Sphinx is in. So is Dobby and Winky, the Portkeys, Crouch freaking out, the Pensieve scene and Cedric's end. Things that are drastically cut: Yule Ball, Quidditch World Cup, Rita Skeeter stuff (she's in it, but not as much as the book,) Harry stressing over the egg clue, Snape scenes (he's not in it much,) Hagrid & Maxine love story (it's there, but just reduced to a few brief moments for humor,) Dumbledore's humor (again... they never get him right!) Note on the ending: they manage to get it all pretty much in, which is surprising given what's going on. END SPOILERS. I have to tell you, I was disappointed when I heard they cut this from two movies to one, but it sounds like they really pulled it off. The second challenge really acts as a mid-movie action sequence that should blow the doors off of a lot of what we've seen so far in the films. The final challenge also sounds amazing, and the ending should be really creepy. I know they say this with every movie, but this one could be really eerie (not just "dark") because of the very evil Voldemort scenes. Not sure what the young ones will think of it. This stands to do justice to the book, and be the best movie of the series! (And after Cuaron's work, that's saying something!
No Yule Ball! No SPEW! No Quidditch World Cup! You're joking right? I was really looking forward for the latter! It would have been cool. I'm not exactly looking forward to this as much as before.

*reads Leia's last comment* Heh.
It sounds like the World Cup and Yule Ball will still be in it, just not as much coverage as in the book. But cutting out SPEW...that seems kinda important. I mean, the idea sorta continues into OotP with Hermione defending Kreacher. Yeah, they don't need it, but they take away a lot of what Hermione stands for, I think.
I'm pretty excited to see how they do the Tasks. So the Merpeople one is supposed to be really great, huh...? Oh, and I want to see the Yule Ball, because I like pretty dresses. Well, the costumes should be interesting, right?

Yeah, the Yule Ball would have been fun. Watching Ron's face as he watched Hermione with Krum. And my younger brother was really hoping to hear the line "Hermione, you're a girl!" Yeah, he's a bit nuts.
I've found a bit more. Again, nothing is official.
"My father, who is partners and good friends with one of the writers, has received word that the movie is going really well. SPOILER----> While people are saying that the whole SPEW thing is not included in the movie, I assure you that it is! They don't mention it too much but it does show Hermione making her spew badges and making Harry and Ron buy them. The Dark Mark scene is supposed to be a really big scene from what my father has told me. He also said that they have finished filming the Pensieve scene. They also have included Karkaroff always following Snape to talk to him about the Mark on his arm. The scene with the egg is not as it is in the book. Harry doesn't really stress over it too much, but he does get help from Cedric. Another thing is that when the gillyweed is stolen from Snapes office by Dobby, Harry is not a suspect under Snape's eye. The scene with Harry going back to his dorm from figuring out the egg clue is cut out so we don't see his foot get stuck in the stairs, instead Moody justs asks Harry for the Map."
So, at least, perhaps SPEW might be there. Again, see that one said there's no spew, and in this one yes, so we can't be sure of anything from these reports.

I think it's a bit early for speculations. There's still a long way until the movie comes out, until the first screen caps come out, even. So it's normal for people to post things like that, freaking out that something isn't there, while the next day someone says she's sure the thing is there (like the SPEW thing).
I think SPEW, if it's not cut, will not have much coverage either. It will be just Hermione getting pretty angry whenever Harry or Ron talk about Dobby or Winky. Maybe we won't even get to see that she starts SPEW, but at least we'll know that she stands for the elf's rights, which is already something.
The things they said were cut, in that post Herm made, aren't that crucial either are they? Yeah, they are funny bits and good bits of story, but if you put it this way : you have a 2h30m movie to make, you only need the crucial bits and something extra for relaxed moments, what to cut off? Scenes that wouldn't matter much. I really love the part when the Weasleys go pick Harry... I'd love to see it on screen, but it's not something that relates to another part of the story, like, for instance, the creepy beginning with Frank and Voldemort. The Quidditch World Cup would be interesting to see as a visual effect show, and for those Quidditch breath-taking scenes we all like. Also, for Harry+Cho moments, and for a Malfoy family picture ( ). And for Krum's introduction. But they can put Harry+Cho later on and, when Krum appears, someone can say "he played on the Quidditch World Cup for Bulgaria". So, you know what I mean?
Even Sirius isn't that important in the story either, so I'm not surprised if he doesn't appear as much. Maybe he'll just appear one time in Hogsmeade, in that part when he tells Harry, Ron and Hermione the stuff about Crouch and Bertha Jorkins and all.

Yeah, maybe you're right about the Sirius bit. If he is in GOF at all, his part might be on the additional scenes you get when you buy the dvd. You know like in PS, they cut the Nicolas Flamel bit when Harry finds him on the chocolate frog card? It could be that we don't see it at the cinema.
The fact is, I hate it when they cut parts from it. Harry Potter is perfect the way it is already, and even though I might end up saying how lovely a film GOF was when it comes out, the fact that there are things missing, will always make it a little bit lesser perfect.

Well, Gary Oldman is on the cast list. So, we'll wait for the screen captions And we'll see.
But they have to cut things off, wether we like it or not. They possibly can't make a movie with all the details, all the things we like - because what we're talking about here are additions to the main plot. They have to stick with the essential, that "main plot", and reduce things to the maximum. It sucks, I know, the movies aren't half of what the Harry Potter world really is (though PoA was perfect in that area, apart from the head on the Knight Bus that made me seriously angry and embarrased), but it's the way it's got to be. Personally, I think splitting it in two movies would be better. I am scared. They thought about making Queen of the Damned a four episode series because the book was too detailed and long, decided to make it a 2 hour movie and see the result - it's terrible. I'm scared. But I understand what they're doing. Which doesn't mean I like it.
The Yule Ball! Hermione in a pretty dress and Ron being jealous!

Well, you're right of course. I just hope that even if they do stick to the essential, at least they do it in a really good way to pay off for the missing stuff.
There's only some pictures from GOF as of yet, and it got me thinking of how come the Quidditch World Cup isn't there. I mean, the scene really looks liek the part where they're going to the Portkey site, passing through a forest with Mr.Weasley and everything. Maybe they did that scene then they'll be doing the Dark Mark one after it?

A pic? I didn't know anything about it! Do you still know where it is so you can post it here?
*adopts pre-PoA position* Well, maybe they're just trying to scare us off with the cuttings so that we'll be surprised when the movie comes out to find everything's there.

Yeah I do.
Should I post them in the Pictures from the Set thread, or start a new one since the latter is about the POA pics.
I thought I'd better ask you since you're a Mod and everything.
