I haven't seen it yet, but I've noticed that a few of you have, so I decided to open a thread for it. Sadly enough, it was supposed to premiere this Friday over here, but it was postponed to July 29th. I have no idea why.
So, you know. Post your reviews people And nevermind the spoilers, just say your true honest opinion.

Yeah. I agree with Fantan on the last remark.
I know Jules has seen it seeing as the movie was shown yesterday for the first time in the UK. There's this small piece about it: "Azkaban grossed a colossal $9.2m (£5.03m) from 535 locations in its opening day, which was the biggest opening day and single day of all time. The Prisoner of Azkaban was the first film ever to gross over £5m in a single day in the U.K. Its predecessor's had nowhere near that amount of money on their official opening days."
Seems it did pretty well huh?
Here it's going to arrive in the second week of June, but I'll only get to go at the end of June.

Ditto. What did you think of the trailers? I liked them; but I pronounced Expecto Patronum differently in my head than Harry did. He said Expecto Pa-tro-num. I said Pat-tronum.

Yeah I liked them too. Of course, we can't have Harry saying Expecto Patronum in one go though can we? I mean, there needs to be the effect of it. Else he'd be saying it when you say it normally. As if you're reading.
What I didn't like was how Malfoy was feigning to be scared. He sooooo looked like he was acting!! Who would act in such a whimpery way?

I agree with hermoine, I thought Draco was really wimpy in parts. I went to see the UK National Prem of it and the sensation was fab, but yeah Draco was a little of a let down. I like how grown up and different they look and sound. Draco looks really kewl, I like the new look and the hair, just he's such a wimp!!

Basically the reason why it got postponed is because this is Portugal, it's not the UK (unfortunately). But I mean, if they want to attract people to theatres they should premier it this Friday because of the Euro 2004. That'd attract people to the movies, foreigners who were waiting for games to start and all. But no. We're not that clever Maybe they're trying to pull off a surprise
Anyway, I found out this on another forum I go to (not HP related):
"haha i saw the prisonner of azkaban this afternoon, and i got.. bored, really ; quite a disapointment. i am indeed a big fan of the first movie (the second was a big less great, but i thought it was because the book was the "worst" too), but this one.. i dunno, maybe i was too expectant, but the book being my 2nd fave after the order of the phoenix... well the photography isnt really pretty, there aren't so many great lights/atmospheres such as in the other movies, and the directing, it's quite err "zemeckis-esque", some scenes that look like they come from "back to the future", and well it looks like he's trying too hard to make the 7-years-old laugh, it's weird.. and the whole story, reduced to a 2h20 movie makes it quite annoying.. but maybe i'm just too demanding lol.. but i still love alan rickman"
Doesn't sound that appealing, does it? But maybe she doesn't love it as much as we do, little die-hard fans.

Honestly, I don't know if you know this person or not, but I don't agree. I haven't seen it yet, but I think it's going to be great. Of course these are all different opinions, people are different after all, and thus tastes are different too. But one must be aware of all the work, the Cast and Crew went through to produce such a movie. About the time thing, I think we all would like it to be longer, but there comes a time when you have to say, ok it's going to be this long. Else you'd have to put in some other things, which might need other things to explain them, making the movie rather too long, don't you think?

I was lucky enough to catch the first showing last night at midnight. I thought it was great.
The direction was a lot better than in the first two movies. There was a definite darker tone, but it fit the book so well. There were a lot of things that were changed or left out, and unlike the other movies, I considered some of those things crucial to the story, such as why Harry's Patronus was a stag, a lot of background about James and Lily and the past in general was left out, there was no mention of Gryffindor winning the Quidditch cup, and I felt the ending as a whole was a little too abrupt. One of my favourite things about the books is the little sit downs Harry always has with Dumbledore, and there wasn't any of that "closure".
However, I thought Michael Gambon was a great Dumbledore, even better than Richard Harris. He was more energetic and mischevious-- he definitely portrayed the eye-twinkle I associate with Dumbledore. I also really enjoyed a scene that wasn't in the book, where Harry and the other Gryffindor 3rd year boys were in their dorm, eating candy and messing around. It provided that glimpse into everyday Hogwarts life that you usually don't see in the movies. I thought it was brilliant. The special effects have also improved greatly. No more cheesy centaurs-- and Buckbeak looks great, very real.
Anyway, I could go on for hours. I'd give it four out of five stars. Has anyone else seen it yet?

I *just* got back from seeing it. I thought it was very good, pretty much ditto to what gabi said. However, I did not like the werewolf. He looked....like gollum with hair.

I didn't like Dumbledore, I thought he sounded to much like Uncle Vernon. That drove me nuts

*screams* WHO LOVED IT?! I LOVED IT!!
ok...now that that is over with. I didn't think i was going to like Lupin but I did. He was a really lovable character. Sirius turned out better than I thought he would. Draco was really wimpy in parts. I didn't like that. I LOVED LOVED LOVED how well they all worked together and actd. They seemed more together in this one then in any of the other ones. Everyone seemed really confortable with the set and the people around them. The aunt marge thing was hilarious. The dementors were scary. Harry was hot in this one, so was Ron. I haven't really thought of them as cute before but they both blew me away.
Did anyone else notice that it was slightly out of order? I'm not sure I liked how they approached the quidditch thing. Leave Oliver Wood out?! By Georgee, I will not have it. It didn't make any sense.
The flirting. Who's Hermione going to be with? Ron or Harry? Her and Harry were acting like an old married couple (the time-turner scene) while she just barely touches Ron;s hand and get all freaked out.

Oh, I guess I'm going to see it after all. I'm going to go see the preview tomorrow afternoon!!! Ohh, I can't wait!!! ;D
I think I'll have to agree with Fantan on the werewolf one. I haven't seen it on the big screen yet, but I saw a picture of it, and I didn't think it very good. Shows so much that it's all computer generated!
