A dianella original
Very simple: someone creates a riddle, and the person who guesses it correctly gets to create a new one.
I'd finally guessed Sarah's last, so here's a new attempt:
A heavy thing of modest size, I am sought after by the wise - or like a thing that someone found Outside upon the Hogwarts grounds. But I am trash to those feel An unknown thing among some real Dark objects waits too dangerously. What am I - and might I be?

Hm - interesting - no, it's not a portkey - mm, I'll have to explain why that's interesting later, after the riddle has been guessed

I think it was the last line that made me think of a portkey - like, the thing is a portkey, but it might be in the form of something else. And also the line about the trash did it too...
Is it the locket in HP6?

Yipes! Koko got it. Now see why I thought the portkey idea was interesting? JKR seems to have a thing about things that look innocuous, but are very important... liiiiike... the sorcerer's stone, yes, and Neville maybe?
Anyway, Ko's turn to come up with a riddle.

sorry, but i thinks i came up with a good one:
the use of a feather emmbeded in wood giving you of a choice of whether to use as you should to wave or hide
you did the best you could with comments so snide turning to ashes
i may never cry but often born again so you may not die admired by men, adored by women
without thought often used wrongfully i can be brought in the alley. - - - - - - - - - -
what is it?

Our similarities our differences hide But we differ in where we reside We can be found at Hogwarts, true And in our number, we are two.
