*smirks* Why thank you.
Really, how ironic is it that a house with a very potent definition for strength is portrayed as self-absorbed and self-destructive in those books? Every form of power has its underside; Ravens, loving wisdom, could become obscure, while Huffs, loving community and loyalty, could be prone to falling into ruts. It's about time someone went through and underscored all the ways in which Slytherin isn't about the possible weakness that we could fall into if we weren't careful. So, thank you for doing this, Willow.

May I point out at this time that you are doing a great deal of smirking lately, dear En? *smirks*

*sly smile* Wasn't that in my... contract?
Really darling, if you're going to buy me for a week -- and pay in art -- the least I can do is enjoy the chance to practice my dry looks, eyebrow arches and sexy winks. *winks sexily*

I just thought of something that applies to me () and realized that it was a really Slythie thing to think. It's sorta like a combination of things we already have up there, though, so I'm not sure if you'll want to add mine.
Slytherins don't lie. They manipulate language.

Two people, perceiving the same event, can honestly perceive two different events. Therefore, what we perceive is not what reality is.
Two people, perceiving the same event but perceiving it in different ways, can choose to agree on certain details, or can choose to disagree. Therefore, perception is a matter of choice.
And therefore, any good Slytherin, having an end and seeking means, would choose hir perceptions carefully, relate them accordingly, and possibly affect what other people think reality is.
Ethical? Well, ethics as we understand them were created by people who thought they could perceive Reality As It Is. So... time to revise.

Ahh... rings true in my ears, Silver.
Are those all for the Code, En? Love the second one, by the way.

*flattered* Well, actually I meant it as one continuous argument, but if you want to take it together or separately, I'll be equally honoured
Thanks to Sphi for inspiring the whole thing with that provocative addition

My simple, little saying sparked that brilliance?
...I certainly don't see it. I think you may need to get your glasses prescription checked.

Anybody who uses that or any one of the unforgivable curses shall feel my wrath. Don’t try me....
[/li][li] Always look after your fellow Slytherins and be there for them. Be loyal and trust worthy to your housemates as well. [/li][li] Slytherins are not responsible for the stupidity of other houses...
I was just reading over our guidelines so far...and it got me thinking about various things. For one thing, why are you so against the Unforgivable Curses, Willow? We're not all killing machines or anything, but Slytherins do seem to have anger problems once in a while. I don't like to think of people using the Curses as murderers and psychopathic madmen necessarily. Translated into real life, couldn't the Unforgivable Curses just be exaggerations of the feelings of a particularly pissed Slytherin?
Another thing: sure, loyalty is important to Slytherins, but wouldn't a Slythie think that looking out for himself is more important? I mean, in the books it's really obvious, but I find that it applies in real life, too. If everyone in the world can be classified into a House, I'm pretty sure the narcissists would fit into Slytherin. Like in the past, I've actually said, "I'm not responsible for the stupidity of other Slytherins." (Don't worry, I wasn't talking about the Slytherins here ) Am I just particularly evil or is that a typical feeling among all Slytherins? ...Actually, most of the Slyths here are pretty nice most of the time. I think it's just me.

There is a difference between a TD slythie and a JKR slythie. If we were JKR slythies on TD we wouldn't be too much fun in threads and would probably loose many friends on TD, which is not the goal of this board. This is a TD slytherin Code of Conduct so I think somethings are left out because they do not apply to a TD Sexy Slytherin.

I'm well aware of the differences between book Slytherins and TD Slytherins, but you also have to be careful to generalize TD Slytherins. Maybe I've just been leaning more towards the book Slytherins as of late.

That's ok, everyone gets to be like that at one point. I was deffinetely a book Slytherin right before my spring break. Febraury is a hell month. But I think Slytherins in the book are loyal to their house, deffinetely with the house pride.

Yeah, I think you might have a point. Maybe we turn more into book-Slyths when we're in really angry, wrathful moods. Your whole mentality can change...for some people.
But I think the House pride thing is overrated. Sure, people'll go to the Quidditch matches and cheer for their own House and people'll want their House to win, but it doens't mean that they'll die for their fellow Housemates. I don't know; they way it's written in the Code of Conduct sounds like we're all the best of friends, almost like family members. And while in some cases that may be true, I don't think it's any more true than in any other House or any other social group, really.

That's true. To be honest I wouldn't die for anyone here. I don't think house pride is the only overrated thing when it comes to traits. Being nice is completley overrated, and I'm not saying that just because I'm a Slytherin.

I agree. Maybe we're just in a cynical mood right now. More than usual.
