Have you lot heard they're splitting it into two movies to cover everything in the book?! Ahh! This is such great news!
...now I'm just left wondering whether they'll release them simultaneously (doubt it), or, if not, how far apart they'll split them up. Kinda like the last two Pirates of the Carribbean movies --didn't they release them a year apart? ...that could work. Though it'd be torture.
****Book 7 SPOILERS****
There are also many varying opinions on where and when they should split the book into two parts. Some say after Dobby's burial at Shell Cottage, which will lead-up to the plans for the Gringotts heist, and will occur right after the capture of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, the death of Wormtail and Dobby, and the torture of Hermione...which is quite the important climax. Others have said that's too far in to split it, and that they should instead stop it after the gang teleports out of Xenophilus's collapsing house, ending it on a positive upswing and revealing what the Deathly Hallows actually are.
What do you think?

That's a tricky one... both arguments sound so convincing!
I think splitting the movies at Shell Cottage would be too far along in the storyline. After Dobby dies there's basically Gringotts, then Hogwarts, then the end. The climax kind of starts from that point; the pace speeds up and it's full of fighting and action. Starting the second movie right then wouldn't give them enough of a lead-up before that happens.
Plus, even though the end is so full of stuff, I don't think it'll take up much viewing time. They don't need to slow down and explain too much, they just have to do really awesome special effects to show the action scenes. So I think maybe the last half or 2/3 of the second movie will be the action bits, but the first part will still be dialogue and discovery.
I hope that made sense. I think the split occurring after they've left Xenophilius's is more likely. It's still farther than halfway so I want to say that the split would happen earlier on... maybe when Ron comes back or after they leave Godric's Hollow, but you're right that then it wouldn't end on a positive upswing at all. The future would still look really dreary since they wouldn't have worked out the hallows yet.
Hmmm... it might still be possible that it's after Ron comes back, though. Because that will be positive, and they'll be happy that someone sent help to them, and so right then there's still quite a bit of hope.
Oh, I just checked Wikipedia and the first part is due to be released in November, 2010 and the second part in May, 2011. That's only 6 months apart... I'm sure we can wait. Maybe.

MAY 2011?!!?! That is way too far away But i really enjoyed the first part of the movie, i think it was the best one yet. I loved the scene where Harry found the Sword of Gryffindor. I hadn't read the book in a long time so i was nervous the whole time as to what trouble harry would find when he was venturing so far away from poor Hermione...
