When I was younger I saw the Candyman. You do not know how paranoid I was about even thinking about the movie and everything. I'm glad that I'm not the only person here who's heard or even liked the Dr. Phibes movies on this board.

I do that too, Lilg! I mean, so it may only be a movie, but things like ghosts, curses etc. MIGHT exist, and hey, I don't like those odds!! I'm the biggest wuss.
Guin, in the X-files (very early episode) they had one where if you say "bloody mary" into a mirror 13 times, she comes out of the mirror and kills you! Same idea as the Candyman one. Only she doesn't turn into a bunch of bees.

You have to chant it 13 times, don't you? I never watched any of the X-Files, but I hate that Bloody Mary legend. The first time I heard about it, I took care not to look in any mirrors for a long time

Oooh, me too, Dawn!! Especially because you know when you just can't help but think "Bloody Mary" in your head and you're also thinking "No!! Stop saying it!!" but you can't! ARGH!
Also because in the Poltergeist the evil people come out of reflective surfaces.

That makes me thing of "Urban Legends". The movie didn't scare me much, though.
Scary movies...scary movies...sorry, but I'll have to say "House on Haunted Hill". I know it's boring, I know it all, but there's something about that movie. I don't know what. I sort of get petrified everytime I watch it. I don't have nightmares, of course (I never have nightmares related to movies I've seen), but everytime I think about the movie it seems that my mind blocks. And yeah, that scene where she's filming everything and then she gets near that room and...*shivers* Yeah.
The "Scream" movies are a joke. Same for "I know what you did last Summer" and "I still know what you did last Summer". Come on!! She gives the guy several shots in the end and he still manages to be in her room in the end? Neh They made an end so that they could do a sequel...I wonder how it'd be called "Be sure I still know what you did in that Summer three years ago"??
I can't remember anything else. I'm not a scary movie-person. Though I watch them sometimes.
"Blair Witch Project" made me laugh. I couldn't watch "What Lies Beneath" 'till the end...(it's her neighbour that's haunting her, right?) and the "Sixth Sense" made me think a lot, too.
I think that's it.
Oh yeah, "Urban Legends" was cool, but I think the sequel is stupid. I never watched it though, but couldn't they just leave the situation as it was??

Well, Urban Legends was eh, ok, I suppose.
But I totally urge anyone who hasn't seen the old version on House on Haunted Hill, & the old version of 13 ghosts, to see it. That and a movie called Freaks. It's great!

Mina, I didn't think Blair Witch was scary but after you read the book that goes with it, then you aren't as sure if it's still fake or not. There's just some things in there that are pretty convincing as evidence.
As for Urban Legend, the "Aren't you glad you didn't turn the lights on" scene was sort of... disturbing, but it didn't scare me. But I think it's got something to do with the whole teen horror movie thing, they're just so cheesy they're not scary.
Oh, but Ring was scary. Oooh yes it was. *takes a look over her shoulder to see what her TV is doing*

Yiss, I know that. I had to do this report about the "Blair Witch Project" for the school paper, because of the movie (everyone was obsessed with). I was told to show to real part, the real story. So I bought the book and went to the official website and let's say that I had nightmares. It's really really scary. Too bad the movie's what it is. If it was different I'm sure it'd been great.

In "What Lies Beneath"--it is the woman her hubby killed who is haunting her. I don*t like watching Harrison Ford be the bad guy...that just isn*t kosher.

*thinks* Hmmm guin, I can't really remember "What lies beneath"... is that the one about the pagoda on the island? Because I saw that once on the plane a few years ago... can't remember if Harrison Ford was in it though...
Anyway, yeah, he doesn't really pull off the "bad guy" thing does he? Oh, and how about Sean Connery being his dad in Indiana Jones?! That's not much better...!

What Lies Beneath" was the one with Michelle Pfieffer--and Harrison Ford tried to kill her in the end..
I saw "The Others" over the weekend (daughter rented the DVD)--and wow, it was scary! It was one terrific flick--I would recommend it to anyone. It does, however, have one of those "Sixth Sense" type endings..

It was really funny one night when we decided to watch 'candyman'. Then at about midnight, we all (5 girls,6 guys and a dog) all went into a tiny bathroom ,turned off all the lights and said 'candyman' into the mirror once...........twice............ then the girls and the dog ran out screaming, along with most of the guys. lol. (we love scary movies) ;

Never saw the "Candyman".

I've only seen one bit of "The Others"- you know, the bit when she's talking to the woman in the rocking chair and she says "I'm looking for my daughter" or something and the woman looks up and she goes "I am your daughter" or whatnot? And she was all gross and wrinkly?
Alright, so even previews scare me! Like when I saw the preview for exorcist and there was that bit with the girl going down the stairs upside down on her hands and feet. And the scary high-pitched piano/violin music in the back. Gah. That was disturbing.
Yeah, I know. I'm such a wuss.
