Truth is "verita". Ambition: "ambizione" Wisdom(I'm not very sure about this. I know the meaning for intelligence though) : Intelligenza.
What does manumission mean?

It means, in ancient Rome, to free a slave.

MC's right (hey moon child, can I call you that for short?). I think it's got a latin root though. Manu = hand (i.e. like, control) mission = noun of something like mittere or something (i.e. to let go) so all together it means to release control over something (i.e. slaves).

Sorry I haven't been on, I am in Sweden now and haven't had much time in general, but I do know it was used during the American Civil War for the freeing of slaves in general. Although it did have roots in Latin manumitto, -mittere, -misi, -missum.

Hmmm, so I guess that might partially also explain eMANcipation as another slave-freeing word? My Latin is scratchy at the most, although I'm finding that learning German is surprisingly helpful. (Hope Sweden is fun! I'm going there in a few months! )

I'm learning German myself! It's turning out alright for the time being although I haven't actually started learning verbs and that kind of stuff...just random things like thanks and numbers. But I'm gonna steal my brother's german notes...yeah I'm a nerd.

Ooh! We should compare notes! I'm doing more reading and translating than speaking because it helps more with the language requirement at PhD level (when you have to read texts in their original language).
Learning other languages also helps me see how we get words from other languages and they kind of get anglicized and absorbed into the English language.

Ever since I saw the bonus features on the Half Blood Prince DVD, I decided I neded a new favotire word. I came up with so many of them, words I liked because of their meaning or how they aounded. I was and sorta still am torn between altruistic and miscellaneous. The first one I like for the meaning and the second just sounds fun to say. Unfortunately I don't exactly have the largest vocabulary. Though I am very proud of myself to say that I know the basic meanings of words... if not the definitions
