Today is Novemeber 6th, a very important day in the Potter world. Today the World Premiere for GOF takes place in Leicester Square in London.
Although I of course was unable to attend, I do know of a person who will and she's there right now(the lucky one!) So here we can all post pictures from the premieres(I'm particularly keen on seeing what Emma has chosen to wear this time around ;D).
This is a list of the attendees:
As you will notice, Alan Rickman, Brendan Gleeson, Jason Isaacs and Ralph Fiennes will not be going(boohoo!).
Also, for most of you who I guess won't be in London in about 2.5hrs the time the premiere starts, you can watch it live at this link.
I like most will be going to watch GOF on the first day it comes out here, that is, November 18th, so after the frenzy of the movie, you are welcome to come here and discuss the movie. Enjoy!

Gary Oldman didn't attend it either. Nor the NY one - Ralph Fiennes was in there. They're making such a secret on how The Dark Lord'll look like! It's annoying! It makes my curiosity and hysterics go even higher! Oh, and the movie'll come out here on the 24th. Next week! *wets self* I'll then post a review. And I'm also putting up a Spoiler warning on this thread since I'm sure most of us can't write a review without giving stuff away.

Ha. Just chatting to some friends today and the film's apparently allready available over P2P Illegal Download Systems - ironic - I was severely tempted to try and download it but I restrained myself - It'll probably turn out to be a bad quality movie with half of it chopped off - must wait 'till Cinema.

Ahhhhhhhhh! I can't wait.
I'm heartbroken though because I won't be seeing the movie until either Friday or Saturday. Stupid school gets in the way. Plus only one of the local theaters is having a midnight showing! !!! Santa Barbara County is backwards or something....
On the bright side tonight I'm watching PoA.
Can't wait.

School does get in the way of things. But I'm going to watch it Friday night, so it's not that bad. Excited!! Plus I've been watching a bunch of clips (and ruining the movie for myself )...they chose a perfect Rita Skeeter. And the twins are hilarious, as usual. ;D

Okay, so I'm in this competition to win double invitatios for the pre-screening of the movie, next Tuesday. I'm not gonna win or anything, I got in with both my ID and my father's. Anyhow, I already have the tickets for the movie itself. Funny though, this is an example of how serious Warner Bros. Portugal is about the business they make: The receipt I got when I bought the tickets says: Movie - Harry Porter

it was....A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!! i saw the 6.15pm viewing for it on Friday, November 18th, 205, and was sooo overjoyed and excited. the graphics were pretty cool, and the whole thing was awesome, but some things weren;t portrayed as i'd imagined...and it seems it went through the first, like, 10 chapters of the book super quickly, but it IS a movie, and you can't have everything.
what are your thoughts?

I want to STRANGLE THE DIRECTOR. I did enjoy myself, but... AUGH! What happened to... EVERYTHING?! Maybe I came in with too many expectations?

yeah, i think i came in with too many expectations...like the maze scene--i expected a LOT more than that...and i would've imagined the lake scene to be way longer...i dunno... the triwizard tournament cup looks awesome.

********There are big time spoilers ahead. You are hereby warned. ****** So I just saw the movie a little while ago, and I'm still torn on how I feel about it. One part of me loved it, but a bigger part of me is major-league unhappy with it. I don't know, it just felt so choppy and I really missed certain pieces that were left out (and of course, as always, I'm kinda pissed at some of the things they left in the movie but changed around for no good reason...argh! ). I still don't like Michael Gambon as Dumbledore, although I felt he was more bearable in this film than the last one. LOVED Fred and George in this movie. I was so happy that they had bigger roles. From the previews I had been bothered by the way they chose to have Moody's eye, but all was forgiven because of the way Brendan Gleeson played him. He was awesome. Not happy that they didn't mention the Giants. I guess they're going to leave all those bits out of future movies too? No mention of Dobby or Winky, and they made no mention of Percy now working for the ministry. I was actually really mad that they threw Barty Jr. into the opening scene, but I guess it was a necessary evil to save time. No S.P.E.W. I understand that omission. I thought we'd see/hear more of Sirius. The displays at the opening of the Quidditch World Cup were great. Loved the Leprechaun. ;D I felt so sad for Hermione at the end of the Yule Ball. Snape's role was pretty small, but I loved him in the Great Hall scene. No mention of Rita being an animagus? Who was the dark-haired female Death Eater behind Voldy while he was dueling Harry? Can't be Bellatrix. Why was Voldemort using his left hand to hold his wand when Tom Riddle's wand hand was his right? Harry bringing Cedric's body back = I was very disappointed with the actual end of the movie...it just seemed way to chipper considering a boy had just died. Eh, I'll probably add more at some point (as if I didn't write enough already ). I know I'll be seeing in in the theater at least one more time. * EDIT - I forgot to say that I noticed they had different girls playing Padma and Parvati than the ones in POA. That bothered me for some reason.

I'm sorry but there are gaping holes in the movie where important plot points should have been, ESPECIALLY since these things will figure into the next adaptation of the movie in a serious way. I just don't think way GoF was edited allowed for a smooth continuity into OotP.

I don't know...I still thought this was an amazing movie. My favourite so far, maybe. It did feel a bit choppy, like they just stuck a bunch of the scenes together without much transition or explanation (for instance, how Crouch Jr. escaped from Azkaban, etc). And I was surprised just how much they cut out: no creatures at all in the maze, not showing any of the Quidditch World Cup, etc. But despite all that, it felt like the script was more realistic. And the acting by (almost) all the actors was right on...Moody, Ron, the twins, Skeeter, Barty Crouch Jr., Voldemort...they were all great.
...Except for some reason, I didn't like Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore in this one. Something was missing. It didn't feel right at all.
And why did they suddenly choose to make Filch the comic relief? I found that strange.
I think I might've been the only person in the whole theatre crying. I cried a little when Cho had to turn Harry down (*shrug* I think it was just Harry's reaction that got to me), and a lot more when Cedric's ghost came back and asked Harry to bring his body back. RIP, Cedric...

I'd have to say, my expectations faired out pretty well with this movie. I really enjoyed it, and I thought it did a good job of getting across the major plots from the 4th book.
I mean. . . I purposely didn't reread the book before the movie because I didn't want to be disappointed by all that I didn't see. Yes, they skipped a lot of the sub-plots. But something HAD to be cut. The book was 700 pages long, so a lot more had to be cut from this movie.
My hope is that there will be deleted scenes to see, such as more explanatory scenes of Barty Crouch Jr. and the political battle that went on after Voldemort's return and Cedric's death.
I understand why Winky wasn't in the story, and why they ended up having to add Barty Crouch Jr. into the first scene of the movie. It saves plot time, because it was quite complicated (yet genius) with how JK Rowling unraveled everything at the end of the book. But for a movie. . . if you have too much word explanation (like in the second Matrix movie when Neo was shown the whole loop cycle of Zion. . . it's just too much information and it goes over your head. Sometimes simplicity is better).
I guess my expectation with this movie was: don't get disappointed because of what you don't end up seeing in the movie, or all of the movies aren't ever going to be enjoyable. Focus on the storytelling, the acting, cinemetography, and flow of the movie. That will tell me if the movie was enjoyable.
And for me, it was. I do agree that I didn't exactly like Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore, either. He did a good job, but I think he made the character a bit rough. In the books, Dumbledore always spoke and acted with grace and subtlety. His voice tone was what gave demand if he was angry, not coming up to Harry and practically strangling him to make sure he didn't put his name in the Goblet of Fire.
Although in thinking about why Gambon chose that kind of attitude for Dumbledore to make, I think maybe it's from a parent's frantic mindset that their child has just been entered into something dangerous and they're feverish with fear for the child's well-being and safety, not expecting the sudden turn of events at all.
I don't know if that makes sense or not. But overall, I enjoyed the movie very much, i thought the acting was superb, Harry's crying a lot more believable in this film, and thought the comedy relief was very clever and well placed. I love how the twins were featured a lot more in this film. The movie needed that.

That's a good explanation of why Gambon showed Dumbledore acting that way toward Harry, moira. I did think that part was weird when I saw it. One thing I can't stand about Gambom playing Dumbledore is that he goes from practically whispering to practically shouting a lot, like he needs to do it to get his point across. Richard Harris perfected the role without pulling any of that junk. You also mentioned another thing that I did wrong...I did reread the book right before seeing the movie and I think that's what held me back from enjoying it more. During every minute that passed I was thinking of another thing that was left out/changed around. I think I'll appreciate the movie more the second time around, since I already know what I won't be seeing.

I went in just being excited that it was the next Harry Potter movie. My friends and I sort of had a minor problem with the muggle clothes worn 24/7 (the only time you see robes is at the beginning, yule ball, then end) which took nothing away from the story, but was a minor peeve.
Only a small, forgettable mention of Fred and George's plans for a joke shop and Harry did not give them his winnings to fund their research. Is this going to be covered in OoTP as a flashback or what? Because of that act of generosity, they were able to invent extendable ears, a tool that comes in handy for MOST of OoTP, then the fireworks and portable bog for the great telling off of Umbridge. Thanks to harry, they HAVE a reason to say fare thee well to Hogwarts and Umbridge's madness. It's important! The lack of Percy also shocked me since he is going to spend the rest of the series being angry with the rest of his family. Will they just start off OoTP with him being angry or is he to be written out of the script completely? I personally think the conflict between the Weasleys is one of the more interesting parts once the story gets rolling, it's something the audience can relate to or understand. It gives the characters much more depth. I also had a problem with the ending. I realize, yes, it is for *makes face* children, but making everything all hunky dory at the end like Cedric never ate it? Bad move.
Don't get me wrong, I had a great time watching it, but the aforementioned things didn't bother me until after the post-film giddiness wore off. Plus get a bunch of Potter nuts together in one discussion with lots of coffee and these things happen.
