So, we have a thread about what book you like the best...and so I figured, why not dedicate a thread to what character you like the best?
So are you a fan of Ron? Or maybe you're a Draco person? I'm sure we all have our favourites. Right?

I think I like them all for different reasons, but I can relate to Ron the most. He and I seem to have similar personality traits, both come from poor families that are tied together tightly, and just seem to have the same general attitude about life. In short, I vote for Ron.

Ron eh? I think Ron is my favourite out of the three...but I think I've got to go with right now, Tom as my favourite character. I don't think any other character intrigued me as much as he did and leaves me with so many questions.
Interstingly enough, I don't have the same love for Voldemort.

I go through character phases. First, I loved Dumbledore best, then McGonagall. But I'm going through a Lupin phase right now. I guess... yeah, it's easy for me to relate to Dumbledore with his books and socks and general aesthetic, but I am nowhere near as wise (or old). McGonagall, I liked and respected; she's the kind of woman I would like to know and be around. But Lupin I can really relate to.
-- There's something about me, a way that I change, that a lot of people find scary (the transgender thing) and that isolates me from a lot of society, especially from any chance of teaching in public schools
-- I know a certain field pretty well (my literature, his DADA) but am not exactly highly in demand because of it, although I would love to have a Harry in my life whom I could use my knowledge to help
-- I haven't got much money and don't really have a fixed place in the world right now; and
-- I have some grey hair even though I am really relatively young.

Haha...don't even start with grey hairs...I am the grey hair queen and I'm only 16. Eh, maybe I worry too much?
*thinks* I don't think I really relate to Tom all that much, he's just like a mystery and that capitvates me a lot. I go through stages a lot too...at first I thought Ron was my favourite because I can relate to him fairly well...especially when he stares into the mirror...and then for a while I thought Lupin might be my favourite character...and then Sirius...and now Tom. Whoa...maybe I'm just too indecisive with which one is my favourite.
I wonder if each house would have the general same favourite character? *bites lip thinking*

That would be interesting to find out. Or at least, if people who chose certain houses on TD in general related to people in the same houses in HP?
I mean... a lot of the Slyths are pretty obsessed with Snape and/or Draco, right? But the Huffs, we're a weird bunch. I don't think any of us have the hots for Ernie MacMillan

I think I went through phases, too. I always liked Ron because he's funny in his own way. Otherwise, I found Krum to be a quite different character. He struck me as the kind of person you can never be sure about....I dunno. I also liked Lupin and Sirius. And still do. They're awesome characters.

*realises something else* You know, a lot of the adults in Harry's life are surrogate parents or authority figures, but Lupin is really his first adult friend (or second, if you consider Hagrid more of a friend than a surrogate godfather/parent). And being an adult friend to kids is really important to me.

Yeah, he is... I never really thought about Lupin when I had him as my favourite character...I mean, I'm sure I did sometime or other...but it makes total sense that I would have picked him as up there because he's an adult friend... So I wonder if more younger people would like Lupin more for that reason? Just like with Sirus...I wonder if a lot of people like Sirus because of the whole "cool parent" thing and because since Harry likes him so much...it's almost like we should too...if that makes sense...plus, we went through what Sirus had to go through...I mean, we saw what he had to go through with the dementors and proving himself innocent so we have trust for the character and admiration.

I did. Well, his name anyway. I thought it was really cool. But that's just me.
As far as teachers go, I liked Madam Hooch. She was the tough nut teacher (I mean, come on, teaching 11-year-olds how to fly? : but she does have her soft side. And she's a pretty undeveloped character because she's so obscure, which I like. I have a whacky imagination.

Ahem. Mind if I backtrack just a tad bit? About the Slytherins having an obsession over Snape and Draco. Well, I do admire Snape because I think he is a brilliant professor. Draco...I can't help it. -Hopes Silver doesn't tackle her for saying this- I love him.
However, I'd say that my favourite character isn’t Snape or Draco. In fact, she isn't even in Slytherin. My favourite character is innocent Miss Virginia Weasley. The littlest weasel. I guess it’s because I can relate to her in a way…

That's not what I expected to hear from you at all, Willow. Care to elaborate?

Well, like Ginny, I was a pretty quite girl, only opening up to those I felt the most comfortable with. I didn’t even confide in any of my closest friends. Sure, I didn’t mind talking about my family…things that I enjoy doing or about myself in general, but when it comes to more personal issues, I completely shut down. Well, not that anyone really asked. I always seemed to be a shadow of other people.
Now, I have opened up a little bit, but not all the way.
I can understand what Ginny has been through, how lost she was, the sorrow she felt. Just waiting for someone to come save her. She thought Tom was the one to do so, but in the end...she was only injured even more. Like salt in an open wound.

Yeah...not a big fan of the way Slytherins are portrayed in the books...like that whiny Draco (sorry). But my favourite character this side of Lord Voldemort? (Prepare the tomatos!) Cedric Diggory.
A Hufflepuff! I need to take a shower. I feel dirty. ;D

O.o
right, moving on... back to Willow... Actually, I guess I felt a little gypped by how little of Ginny we got to see or know. She's such a fascinating character, but we get a glimpse of her in the first book and a few peeks in the third and fourth, and she just... gets treated like a plot device in the second. You know what I mean?
