Harry was staring into those cold red eyes...all of a sudden there was a burst of searing pain in Harry's scar...and Harry woke up, although he kept his eyes tightly shut. It was only a dream he told himself, only a dream. Harry slowly opened his eyes and what he saw nearly made him scream, there was a pair of huge yellow eye's staring at him. But Harry suddenly realized who it was, it was only Hedwig. Harry started scolding himself for being so paranoid when Hedwig gave him a sharp nip.
"Ouch", Harry said. That’s when Harry realized that she had an envelope in her beak. "Oh", Harry said, “Thanks...” Harry slowly opened the envelope; a newspaper clipping and a letter fell out of it. Harry read the letter slowly and had to read it again to make sure he wasn't seeing things. It read:
After spending 12 years in the wizard prison Azkaban, Sirius Black's name has been cleared, from crimes that he did not commit. Cornelius Fudge, the minister for magic had this to say..."we have evidence that Black is innocent, that’s all that the public needs to know. For now, we are not allowing the evidence to be released right now...it's very complicated business...and due to the return of You- Know- Who...well anyway that’s all that the public needs to know.”
Harry couldn’t believe it. Then Harry remembered the letter that came with the clipping (which showed Sirius shaking hands with Fudge.) Harry quickly unfolded the letter and started to read it. The letter read:
Harry- Isn't this great! My name has finally been cleared. Dumbledore helped a lot, mostly because of the growing problem of Voldemort. Harry, you're no longer safe at the Dursleys. Soon, probably as you read this letter, I'll be on my way to pick you up. I can't explain anymore, in case this letter is intercepted, but I'll tell you as much as possible when I come to get you. What I'm going to tell you Harry is going to come as a shock, so prepare yourself. That's all I can say now. Good Bye Sirius
Harry knew that something was up, but he couldn’t contain his excitement, maybe he would finally leave the Dursley's! As Harry quietly prepared in excitement for his upcoming journey, many thoughts coursed through his head. What couldn't Sirius tell him? Why would it come as a shock? Was it something big? Something to do with Voldemort? As Harry was laying down the very convent loose floorboard after removing his Hogwarts things, Sirius Apparated with a small pop!
"Harry" he whispered. "Come on". Sirius pointed his wand at the trunk, and muttered "Accio trunk" then turning to Harry whispered "Come on!"
"What about the Dursleys? What am I going to do about them?"
"Don't worry about the Dursleys. Their memories have been modified because we don't want them spilling anything out that they're not supposed to, plus we know that they're not exactly fond of you. Now hold on tight. We’re going to Disiperate. I know it's not exactly legal,” he said looking at Harry's stunned face. "But desperate times call for desperate measures." and with another small pop, they were gone. That would be the last time Harry would see Privet Drive for a long time.
All of a sudden Harry felt his feet slam on the ground. He swayed, but Sirius caught him. "Thanks”, Harry said, grateful that his nose had not connected with the ground.” That felt like a Portkey", Harry told Sirius. "It's very hard to Apparate and Dissaparate when you have someone with you that doesn't know how, if and when you learn to Apparate and Disapparate you will have a very different experience, you won't hit the ground with as much force as you just did", Sirius replied. Harry just nodded. He was to busy looking around in the room he was standing in.
The room looked sort of like a very old house that hadn't been used in along time there has dust everywhere and there was very little light there were picture hanging around but they were all empty and there was something moving in the corner The room turned out to be the old Shrieking Shack, now rebuilt, and much cleaner. Unfortuneatly, rats still infested the corners.
"I’m sorry Harry, but this is the best I can get right now,” said Sirius.
"Its okay."
“The Shrieking Shack is going to be my headquarters for the next little while, because it’s the safest place for me to stay that’s close to Hogwarts. If you ever need me Harry, I’ll be here.”

Wow! That is really good.
I just had a little bit of constructive criticism though. . .don't take it personally or anything, and slap me if I offend you.
Hedwig gave Harry a nip, but then she was also holding a letter in her beak. That might prove slightly difficult unless she has a huge mouth. Maybe she dug her talon into him a bit? Or maybe the letter was attached to her leg, instead of in her mouth? Anyway, it's your story, so do what you like, but I just thought you might like to know that it didn't work in my mind. If I got your meaning wrong, let me know.
Then, I also noticed that you used "now" twice in one sentence. (The one where Fudge is being quoted. Something like "For now, we are not releasing any information. . .right now". Sorry I didn't quote it, but you get the idea anyway.) There is, of course, nothing wrong with this, but things tend to sound better if you use different words in close proximity of each other.
If I sound like a mom or a pesky teacher or anything, let me know and I'll do my best to rectify the situation.

Thanks for the compliments... I tried to catch everything when I edited it, but I guess I didn't! Thanks so much for pointing that out- I don't mind at all!
NEways, here's the next installment:
Harry nodded in understanding.
Suddenly, the door opposite to Harry creaked open and Lupin stood before Harry’s eyes.
“Professor Lupin!” Harry cried in shock.
Looking not at the shocked expression that still hung on Harry’s face Lupin turned instead to Sirius.
"You didn't tell, did you Sirius?"
"Tell me what?" was Harry’s immediate reply, "It’s not about what you said in the letter, is it?"
"No" Sirius replied to both of them. Then he directed his attention to Lupin and said, "In all of the hub-bub I almost forgot all about that! Well go on, you should tell him now."
"Tell me what?" Harry repeated.
"I'm coming back as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. But only temporarily!" he added rather hastily, looking at the expression of shock on Harry’s face.
"That’s great! For a while I thought Snape was going to get the job!" he said Harry was so excited at having his favourite teacher back that he did not notice the rather unpleasant looks Sirius and Lupin exchanged at the mention of 'Snape'.
"Professor Lupin!" Harry said. He looked at his watch. It was midnight. The moon was full. “You're not going to-“
Lupin cut him off. “No Harry, I've been cured. They found a cure just about 3 months ago, it’s still highly experimental, but it seems to be working for me. And for the record, since I am no longer you teacher, please, call me Remus”
"Now we need to tell you something very important Harry," said Sirius "This is going to come as a great shock but you have got to know and be prepared." He looked at Lupin for support. “I don’t know how to tell you this Harry but well...” Just then Dumbledore came bursting in he looked very scared and the twinkle that was always in his eye had gone.
"Sirius. Remus. Harry, oh good you're here. It's what we've feared. Have you told him yet?"
"No" said Sirius. "Harry" he said turning to Harry. "Voldemort is collecting his Death Eaters." Harry went pale.
"That's not the worst." Dumbledore said grimly. "The Minister is dead. A large group of Death Eaters stormed and took over the Ministry. They killed Fudge and now have control of the Ministry and Daily Prophet. All the current workers must be under the Imperious curse. That's the only way this could have happened." Harry went pale.
"H-h-how did this happen?" Harry stuttered, and then suddenly said, "Mr. Weasly- Percy, are they okay?"
"Yes" Dumbledore replied, still not losing the grim look on his face. "Fortunately, the Weaslys being one of the few people who know what's going on, quit their Ministry jobs. Right now Percy is pouting, and Mr. Weasly is working for me. Not at Hogwarts, but for other things."
"Harry," Lupin said, when Dumbledore had finished, "The reason I'm the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is because of this. I'm not going to be messing around with grindylows and hinkypunks. We are going to be focusing strongly on Voldemort. I'm working on lessons right now that'll help the students recognize what we're dealing with without scaring them."
"What about Malfoy? And Crabbe and Goyle? And everyone else in Slytherin?"
"They'll be preparing for their OWLS of course. We made sure EVERYONE would be very busy this year. We don't want anybody "helping" us out. Or them, for that matter." Dumbledore replied.

Harry was in shock. In the time before term started, Harry wandered around Hogsmeade. Two days before the first day of school, Sirius approached him.
"Harry. We'll be going to Diagon Alley to pick up your school things. Then we'll take the Muggle Underground to Kings Cross. I'll be Apparating to the Shrieking Shack, because I want to be near you. Right now, I need to be. Voldemort has risen. Things are going to be the way they were when your parents died. Bad times."
After coming out of Madam Malkins (he had grown over the summer) Harry spotted Ron, Fred and George. They were all looking very somber.
"So I take it you know then?" said Harry. They nodded unhappily.
"Things are hard at home,” said Fred, unusually serious. "Dad's gone all the time. Mom's really snippy. Percy's the worst of all though. He's so upset after what happened at the Ministry. Do you know what's the worst part? Nobody has any idea what's going on. We just saw Angelina. She has no clue. Nobody does. It's because they took over the Daily Prophet."
"I know,” said Harry. "But there is some good news. Lupin is back teaching the Dark Arts class. Sirius' name has been cleared and he's living in the Shrieking Shack. I know Dumbledore's got something up his sleeve."
While finishing the all too serious discussion with Ron, a voice called out "Harry! Ron! Fred, George!" they all turned around to see Hermione running up to them. "Hey everybody! I'm so glad to see you! This summer I went to go see Viktor and...." Hermione trailed off after looking at the expressions on their face. "What? What's wrong? Tell me!"
"Not now" said Harry. "Later".
When the three friends sat down for some pumpkin juice in The Leaky Cauldron, Harry and Ron pieced together the story for Hermione.
"Oh, Ron." she said, after he finished up telling of the happenings at the Ministry.
"What are we going to do? How are we going to figure this out AND study for our OWLS?"
"Right now, OWLS are the least of our problems,” said Harry. "But there's nothing we can do right now."
The next day on as Harry rode with Sirius on the Underground, he kept trying to ask him about what he had mentioned in his letter, but Sirius kept changing the subject. It looked like he didn't want to tell Harry until the last possible moment. Finally, the reached King's Cross and entered the barrier.
"Harry" Sirius said, looking around, "Please. Stay out of these things that are going on. You should be safe at Hogwarts, but after what happened last year at the Triwizard Tournament, nobody can be sure. Hagrid's gone. That's one of the things I've been meaning to tell you. Dumbledore sent him off to talk to the giants. They'll be less likely to eat him seeing as he's half. But that's top secret information, I trust that you'll be able to keep that to yourself?" Harry nodded. "Also, I don't want you to be getting to be to close of friends with anyone new. Stick close to Ron and Hermione. Dumbledore and Lupin will be watching out for you of course, but Dumbledore has a lot to deal with right now. Please watch yourself." Sirius finished talking with a sigh.
"Umm... Sirius?" Harry started hesitantly. "Yes?" he answered. "What is it you mentioned in your letter? I'd like to know before-" The sound of the Hogwarts Express whistle interrupted him.

"Get on the train Harry" Sirius said quickly, looking slightly relieved. "Have a good year. Remember, I'll be in the Shrieking Shack if you need me. But Dumbledore may have to send me on errands, so I'll send you an owl if I need to leave. I'll say it one more time. Be Careful." And with those words, Harry got on the train, still wondering what this year would hold.
As Harry searched for an empty compartment, everything that Sirius and the others had said coursed through his mind. Fudge... dead? The Death Eaters rejoining their master? Lupin coming back! The Daily Prophet and the Ministry taken over? And Sirius...Sirius was holding back on something obviously very big...and important.... Harry boarded the train and sat down next to Ron dejectedly.
"Hey, Harry. What's wrong?" he asked, his mouth full of a chocolate Frog.
"Oh, nothing I guess." Harry replied, for some reason reluctant to tell Ron about what Sirius had, well hadn't, said. Hermione gave Harry a weird look as she sat down next to Ron. A quick look from Ron told her not to say anything. The three of them had a half-hearted conversation about the upcoming year, and who would replace Oliver Wood as the Gryffindor captain and Keeper.
"George told me that he got an owl from Angelina saying that she was the new captain. No word on the Keeper though."
"Wait, Ron, isn't that your position?" Hermione asked.
"Yeah."
"Well, maybe you could try out." Ron considered this thought briefly and replied. "Maybe I will." Looking at Harry for approval, and then seeing him nod said "Hmm." Harry thought briefly back to their first year, when Ron looked into the Mirror of Esired. Hopefully, this would ease his feelings of being overshadowed by his older brothers.
Suddenly, Neville burst into the compartment and looked wildly around. "You haven't seen Malfoy, have you? Seamus told me that something major happened to him over the summer. I'm trying to stay out of his way." Neville, a hopelessly clumsy boy in their year was always trying to stay out of the nasty Malfoy's way.
"No, we haven't seen him" Hermione told him kindly.
"Okay" he quivered, and then left the compartment.
"Maybe he was turned into a ferret again." Ron said hopefully. Harry chuckled, remembering when last year's Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher turned Malfoy into a ferret for punishment.
"No," Hermione said. "I was talking to Lavender earlier and she said that his dad transferred him to Durmstrang. That could just be a rumor though,” she added, looking at the hopeful faces on both of the boys.
"That's right, Mudblood. I almost did transfer. But at the last minute, Father changed his mind due to some special circumstances." he said walking into the compartment.
"Who invited you?" Harry said with disgust, hopping up, fists clenched.
"DON'T CALL HER THAT!" Ron said through clenched teeth. Hermione, after almost five years knowing the signs of a fight brewing, grabbed their cloaks.
"Not worth it." she said under her breath. Harry and Ron sat down slowly.
Malfoy turned to leave then said, "Letting a girl make your decisions, Potter? Not man enough to do it yourself?" laughing, he exited the compartment.
Harry remembered that if you count to ten when you’re angry, you won't do something you regret later thinking of Malfoy; he counted to 430 before he could breath regularly again. "Thanks Hermione," he muttered. The last thing Harry needed was to get in trouble for fighting.
After what seemed like an especially long ride, the train finally pulled up to Hogwarts. Harry felt a jolt of surprise when he saw Filch and Mrs. Norris calling first years, "Over here!" Then he remembered that Hagrid was gone.
"Looks like the first years will be getting a lecture before there even Sorted," muttered Ron.

Suddenly, he heard a joyous voice call out "'Arry, 'ow are you?” Harry turned in surprise to see Fleur Delecour standing beside him. “I came to see you, and Ronald of course, off the train. You knew, of course, that I was coming to teach, did you not?"
"Er, no I didn't, I mean, I know you wanted to but...what are you teaching?"
"Why, didn't Hagrid tell you," she asked in surprise "I’m temporarily the Care of Magical Creatures professor, until he and Madame Maxine get back" Her voice got low, "'Arry, he wanted you to know that he is going to be in contact with you and Ronald and Hermione, and that he misses you." she added with a smile. "I assume Sirius told you where he went"
At hearing Sirius name, Harry turned with a jolt. "How do you know about Sirius?" he asked, in a mix of fear and surprise, remembering that information had not been said in the paper "How MUCH do you know"
"Everything, 'Arry, I am sorry, I did not mean to startle you. Do not worry, Dumbledore told those he could trust all about you and Sirius, after all, he can't get caught now.”
Seeing Harry's still somewhat puzzled expression, Fleur said "Now, shall we adjourn to the Great Hall everyone?" it was only then that Harry noticed that all the conversation had stopped, everyone was looking at a new girl Harry had never seen before, a very pretty girl.
When she saw Harry, her eyes flicked up to his forehead, but then down to his eyes. She said slowly "So Harry, we meet at last"
"Er, excuse me?" Harry said in surprise
"Sorry Harry, allow me to explain myself, my name is Alexia, I am a transfer student from the Canada, and I had been looking forward to meeting you, that's all." But something in the way that she said it made Harry think there was a much deeper reason for her wanting to know him.
At dinner that night, all that the entire school could talk about was the new girl. When Professor McGonagall walked in with the first years trailing after her, to Harry’s surprise, he saw her get up and join them.
"Of course," Ron whispered "she hasn't been Sorted yet." When they called her name, Harry gave a quiet gasp. "Ron, did you hear that, her name I mean?"
"Yes, what about it? " Ron asked,
"Her last name, it was Figg, her name is Alexia Figg!!!"
They both grew silent as the Sorting Hat contemplated Alexia’s house, it seemed to take an awful long time. Harry could see Alexia's mouth moving as if talking to someone. Finally, the hat shouted "GRYFFINDOR!"
The Gryffindor table exploded into cheers, and somebody set off a small firework that exploded against the starry ceiling. Harry noticed the Weasly twins were looking unusually innocent at the time. As Alexia walked to the Gryffindor table, she was bombarded with questions:
"What year are you in?"
"Is this your first time at magic school?"
"Were your parents muggles or witches and wizards?"
The table grew silent as they all turned to see who has asked that question. Harry was not the only unsurprised one to see that it was Draco Malfoy.
"If you can't tell, why should I?" Alexia retorted calmly.
The Gryffindor and the Slytherin tables grew silent as Draco's face went from pale, to red, and he walked back muttering about mudbloods and purebloods as the Gryffindor table again broke into applause. As much as Harry liked to see Draco humiliated, there was something about this new girl, and he bet that it was something to do with what Sirius wasn't telling him.

Harry’s thoughts were distracted by the sound of yet more cheering. He turned and looked at Dumbledore sharply as he heard Hermione's name mentioned.
"She's been made a prefect, go figure,” he said flatly. Harry and Ron joined in congratulating Hermione with the rest of the table, but he could tell Ron's heart wasn't in it. "There just going to turn her back into a teachers pet, after all we've done for her too." he said sadly.
Later that night, as the Gryffindor house trudged up to the common room, they saw Hermione push her way into the front of the crowd.
“The new password is fuglemen,” she said, and the door swung open. Harry felt a great sense of happiness at seeing the old Common room again, but after the feast, all the students could think about was bed. Harry was no exception; he went into the boy’s dormitory and felt relieved to see nothing had changed. He fell asleep almost immediately, and from the sound of the snoring echoing throughout the chamber, he figured everyone else had too.
After what seemed like far too short a time since he fell asleep, He heard rustling from the other boys, and Ron's voice, none too cheerful at that time of the morning, telling him to get up. Groggily, he put his glasses on and looked about him, it was the first day of classes, and all the boys were hastily checking over their schedules.
"We've got double Potions with Slytherin again,” he said miserably. “But we have Lupin for defense against the dark arts, so maybe it will be okay. And..." he swallowed hard, "Fleur for Care of Magical Creatures of course"

good story line. the way that it is written leaves something to be desired. maybe if you studied the writing of samuel clemmons, tolken, weis and hickman, or salvatore your suspence moments or where you stop writing could hold people wanting more a little bit better. don't get me wrong i still want to here where you take this, but then again you could just ignore me.until next time have a day.

Thanks for the tips! I have read Tolkein, and Samuel Clemmons (why couldn't you just say Mark Twain?) But I've already written this story, and I'm not trying to be suspenseful, I'm just trying to fit as much as the story as possible on to one post. Sometimes it'll tell me to go back and shorten the post, so I just go and delete as little as possible, so I'm sorry it stops in weird places, but I'll try to post twice if it gets cut off in funny parts.

Harry smiled to see the odd look on Ron’s face at the mention of Fleur’s name, It was too bad that just about every other boy thinks the same way, he said to himself.
"Well we better get to breakfast, don't you think?" Ron said, and the two started off towards the Great Hall.
Upon their arrival, Harry and Ron saw that they were almost the last ones down, the Gryffindor table was already boisterous and full, and Harry’s eye caught Hermione sitting at the end of the table, motioning them to come sit with her. As he went to sit down he looked in surprise to see that Alexia was sitting on the opposite end.
"Hey guys!" Hermione said cheerfully as she took a bite of her scrambled eggs.
"Hullo" the boys mumbled drowsily. Just then the post arrived. A letter dropped into Hermione's lap.
"Oh. Just a prefect meeting next week." she read in a nonchalant manner. Ron looked a little upset, couldn't refuse a perfect opportunity.
"So, Hermione. Are you going to bring up the House Elf problem? Make everyone join SPEW?" Harry snorted, his mouth full of toast. Some flew across the table and landed on Alexia. Harry was mortified, but Alexia didn't seen to notice. She gave just a little half smile and wiped her robes clean without a second thought.
"No" Hermione said witheringly. Just then she looked at her watch and exclaimed "Oh! If we're going to make it to Potions on time, we've got to leave!" The four Gryffindors jumped and ran out of the Great Hall, praying they'd be on time.
As they ran downstairs to the dungeon where the Potions class met, they stopped dead in their tracks. Peeves, the resident poltergeist, had gotten a pile of desks somewhere and had put then in the middle of the corridor. Harry, Ron, and Hermione had just started to try to move them manually when they heard Alexia mutter something. Suddenly the desks started to move. They piled themselves neatly into a nearby empty classroom. They all looked back at her in amazement.
"We start learning magic earlier in Canada then you do here. There aren't a lot of magic schools, and so mostly we go to Muggle schools and learn stuff at home, or go to other nearby witches and wizards houses to learn stuff, if you're Muggle born like I am. Just don't tell Malfoy I'm a muggle born, okay? I want to keep him mad as long as possible. He was bullying that poor Neville kid on the train, and I decided then and there that I didn't like him much."
The others just stared in amazement. Snapping out of it, Harry ran towards the Potions dungeon. Ron and Harry were partners for that lesson. They were learning how to make a Hair Potion, used mostly on bald men. But theirs, unfortunately, wouldn't let the little mouse they were practicing on grow hair. It would just grow little short stubby whisker like spikes, which looked too much like Goyle's eyebrows for their liking. Of course, Hermione & Alexia's grew silky, wavy soft hair.
"Why'd the smart ones have to be put together? They could share the brains, you know." Ron said grumpily, pricking himself their hair and almost cursing. Harry thought Ron was just a little upset that he wasn't working with Hermione.
After the tense Potions class, they headed straight for Defense Against the Dark Arts with Lupin. Hopefully, Harry thought, everyone would cheer up a bit...especially Ron.
When Professor Lupin walked into the room, everyone cheered.
Lupin gave them a weary smile and said,” It’s nice to be back at Hogwarts again”. This year...we will presume on studying curses and how to defend yourselves against them. As your...er...TEACHER...from last year had you studying.
Alexia's hand flew into the air.
"Yes?"
"I wasn't here last year."
"Oh- right. The new student. You are -"
"Alexia Figg."
"OK. We had a teacher teach the Unforgivable curses last year that used to be an Auror, however he was - er - indisposed and now I'm teaching again.
"Right."
"Now, where are you from Miss Figg?”
“ Well, Canada. But I had to go to the US to study magic."
"I see. OK. On with the lesson. Now…"
"Wow!" gasped Hermione after the interesting lesson.
"Yeah," Harry agreed.
"I didn't know Lupin knew so much about you know - Auror stuff."
Ron just looked at Hermione and added distantly, "Yeah."
