On the flip side, it's presidents like the current one who make me glad of the limit And I'm not sure Clinton would have wanted to stay - they say the job takes 10 years off your life - rather like being the Pope, I expect, except that our presidents are usually younger when they take office
I really get quite irritated with the US tendency to make personal matters political. That goes for a lot of things besides our presidents (i.e., whether two women can take out a marriage license). I also get angry about hypocrisy in this regard. Clinton committed a personal indiscretion with a consenting adult female; this Senator Foley was sending explicit messages to a 16-year-old, and the Republican authorities knew it, but they didn't impeach him, did they? And on other personal subjects, I notice that the press haven't had a field day with a matter of Bush's personal finances: how much of his money came from the Holocaust. You would think that would get a little more press time than Clinton's little affair, but no.
Grr.

Bush... *gags*. I'm so sick and tired of him running this country into the ground. My mother and I wish that Clinton would run again. At least he used his brain and didn't listen to his daddy's whipers in his ear. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Why else did we go into Iraq when they weren't connected to Al-Queda at all? It's all "daddy's" fault!
Anyway, I have a wonderful little program I watch on MSNBC Monday - Friday at 8 EST (5 PST) called "Countdown with Keith Olbermann". If you haven't seen the show, watch it. Not only are his news stories fabulous, but he'll throw in some other cool things. Occasionally, he'll do these special comments. I completely love it when he slams Bill O'Reilly from Fox News when he says/does something stupid (If anyone out there likes Bill O, I'm sorry you even listen to him and I pitty you I offended you). Here's a link to the website for the show:

Check out his journal, watch his comments, and take a look at the "Oddball" and "Worst Person In The World" clips, too. You can also look him up on YouTube as well. I recommend the speech he gave on 9/11 at Ground Zero.
The man will make you think.

Hey, did anyone catch the rant against the latest Republican campaign ads... the rant that said something to the effect of "if terrorism is forcing people to live differently based on fear, then how are these ads not terrorism"? I didn't see it (we still don't have access to television for anything other than watching films) but would love to know if someone caught it on YouTube or something....

That should have a rant about those ads (I'm not sure if that's the rant you're referring to En). Does the RNC actually think that most of the people are that gullible to think we'd fall for something as low as that? They're getting even more desperate because deep down, they know the democrats will be taking over in the House and Senate. That ad is the biggest piece of garbage I've ever seen!

Hello there again, fellow house-mates! This is about the second or third time this room faced an attempt of revival, but nevertheless, let's give it a shot!
I've been away most of the time basically because of school, which is everyone's malady I suppose. Lots of work and lots of drama, but the results were quite good and I can surely say that right now, my scholastic life has never been better and that I'm one year away from, finally, college and English Literature.
So how about you? How've you been since Oct. 25th, the last time this thread was updated?

lemme see... october 25... I guess, since, I've become much closer to the people I've met at college, made a bunch of friends, been to a bunch of parties... bought two new calculators, I feel like such an engineering geek (and I'm not even a real engineer, more like a scientist)... and despite almost failing a grand total of three courses in the spring term and having a near-total breakdown due to stress during finals, I managed to finish the year alright, so yay me! Also, never again will I attempt to learn a semester's worth of chemistry in only two days. Sucks that sophomore year starts in 10 days or so. It is indeed everyone's malady, but as long as I don't have to take classes at 7 am, I'm good, because it's a 40 - 45 minute commute. So I guess for one more term, all is good in nancy-goes-to-college-land.
I dated this boy but for some reason nothing ever happened. We didn't actually have a fight or anything, but it just sort of... stopped seein' each other.
I've been to Vancouver and Victoria and as usual when I get home after going on some trip, I just can't wait to get outta here. So only 3 and a half more years until graduation, if all goes according to plan. I have no idea where I'll go yet, but yay for international employment fairs at my school.
Meh. Anyone watch any good movies lately?

Not lately. I've been watching the Harry Potter ones for no particular reason. I have to re-read the books, but I'm obsessing with everything all over again, so...
Have you seen a movie called Little Children? It's so, so great.

Nope, never seen it. I did discover a band called The Little Ones though. And I want to re-read the whole series, sort of, but I know myself. There's no way I'll manage to do it before school starts, especially since I also want to go to parties and things, and once school starts I'll probably read them when I have important stuff to do, thus sending my grades to hell again. So I'm waiting 'til school starts to re-read them.
