Koko: Try 'No way would I waste my money on that crap when I could spend it on.....other things' ;D
BDO is aaaaalways good. I think one of the best festivals in the world. The Boiler Room (The dance/electronic room of BDO) is worth every cent, every year! I think Underworld was there this year (or last) didnt have enough money dammit! (I was planning to see them at the BDO then the next night as well)

I've been to a Five concert. I got roped into that a few years ago when my sister and her friend wanted to go and the condition was that someone older went with them. No-one wanted to take them and I got bribed into it by my mum with cash.
Hmmm....I guess Two Tribes could be counted as a concert kind of event as well in a way.
That's about it for me.
I need to get myself out more...

Well, Koko, about the Backstreet Boys thing... I think that the teenage hysteria is all about not being able to control yourself that much when you're young. Or maybe because everyone else is screaming and you just get... influenced by the surrounding histeria.
But I prefer rock/alternative crowds. I love those crowds. Love those. LOVE! *is getting histerical*
Marilyn Manson, eh? I'd like to see him. Though I'd be certainly grossed out, I'm curious. Because, well, I like some of his songs. And since I don't take him seriously at all, I find it quite easy to hear him. Sometimes I even laugh. I mean, I know he really means all the nasty things he sings, but it's like, I think it's so absurd that I find it funny. It's hard to explain really. But I understand you. My friend Joana wants to go and see Robbie Williams in October and she wants me to go with her... and I'm like.... I don't like Robbie Williams at all, but I'm the only friend she's got.
And I'm not so sure if I'm still going to Placebo or not. João doesn't sound too eager in me going with him and I sort of understand it. Then, my parents don't like the idea of me sleeping inside a tent with two boys. Maybe I'll ask Joana to go with me just on the 19th. Maybe I can blackmail her. Go to Placebo with me and I'll go to "look-at-my-material-girls" with you.
Big Day Out... weren't The Vines and Silverchair in there somewhere? ;D

*grins* Andy, you're so... blunt at times.
Hmmm, about BDO, I think the Vines were there. And maybe QOTSA? I really can't remember that much about it (and that's not because I was too drunk or anything, mind you ), but I did get horribly sunburnt and crushed in the mosh pit. Oooh, but being a little Asian girl does have its perks when it comes to crowd surfing. ;D
About Marilyn Manson, yeah Leni, I know what you mean- I'm curious as to the gross factor, but I think tickets are close to 70-80 bucks, which is quite a bit. And I only know like, four songs, and Simon (guy who asked me to go) is like, one of those obsessive fan type of people.
Oh, but Robbie Williams was ok. He's a pretty funny guy. I didn't know that many songs, but I knew enough to sing along when he did the whole "let's get everyone in the audience to sing" thing. And a couple of girls took their tops off and threw their bras at him () but yeah. I think he's a pretty good entertainer, even though he seems sort of messed up IRL.

Wasn't Robbie Williams rumoured dead a couple of years ago?
As for Marilyn Manson... I wouldn't go. I don't know if you internationals got wind of it, but two summers ago (I think that's when it was) when he was with Ozzfest he was sued for rubbing his uh... stuff on a security gaurd. You could always use that as an excuse.
Steve Burns (aka Steve from Blue's Clues) has an album to be released Aug. 12th, and he's playing at the Mason Jar on the 18th. I've heard his stuff, it's pretty good-- a poppier Mutations-era Beck or more recent Flaming Lips. I really want to go, just for the novelty of it all. ;D Wear a green-striped shirt.
I have yet to crowd surf. I'm just waiting for the right show.

I'm not proud of my early concert-attending years. They're scarred with the attendance of a few of those boy band concerts- LFO, 98 Degrees, *NSYNC..
Last year, I missed out on the chance of seeing Weezer and the Dave Matthews Band. I was going to go see the at-first sold-out Dixie Chicks concert after people started returning their tickets after they made comments on being ashamed that Doubleya was from Texas, but I had a soccer game that night.
I am fortunate enough to live near Minneapolis, and one of my favourite singers in the whole world, Tori Amos, will be there August 9. My best friend wants to go (and he is my only transportation to go), but might be out of town that day.. I really really really want to go, but I need 1. Tickets and 2. Transportation, which won't be easy to find in less than 2 weeks. Eek.

Gabs, believe me, Robbie Williams is very much alive. I guess a few years back he was really messed up and practically dead (I think he checked into a detox or had a drug overdose or something like that? ) but nah, he was ok when he was in Melbourne.
Oooh, Ersade, I saw 98 degrees when they did this promo thing at like, a big shopping mall. Well, I didn't mean to, I was walking past and I saw the 200+ screaming girls and the security guards and makeshift stage thing so naturally I became curious and then the little short guy in the band came out and I got squashed among a bunch of prepubescent girls. It was actually kind of scary because if the people at the back pushed forward, all the people in the crowd sort of just got pushed forward as well, and it was really hard to control your balance or where you were going or anything. I stuck around for a few songs (primarily because the guy with the goatee and hat waved at me ) before I got elbowed in the face and bumped in the back by some hysterical teenies (I swear, people were crying there).
(En, August 9 is a Saturday )
Anyway, I'm not going to Marilyn Manson. Tickets are a whopping $80. But hey, Gabi, we didn't hear the full details about what happened at the Manson concert. Pray tell? Just so I can pass it onto the people I know who are going. ;D

I've never been to a real teeny-bopper concert before. Although, I heard something about a Spice Girls reunion tour, so that all could change.
Isn't Tori Amos touring with Ben Folds? That'd be a really good show.
Anyway, about Manson... I think it was in Florida. He was wearing a thong and a corset, and when he saw this one security gaurd that kept taking kids out of the pit, he leaned over, took it out, and rubbed his bald head with it. Pretty gross.

;D I heard about that incident on The Rise And Rise Of Marilyn Manson. It was gross. But the thing that puzzles me about Marilyn Manson is that he used to be a quiet kid. When he was Brian Warner, that is. His aunt was saying that he was the sort of kid that hid behind his mother when the Warners had visits. So, how could a kid like that become... Marilyn Manson? Though he always had a gore side, of course.
I thought it was amazing when he started writing reviews of Marilyn Manson And The Spooky Kids when they had no song, no CD at all. Amusing. Lots of self-confidence he had.
And you know what?! My presence on Paredes de Coura (festival) is just depending on Joana. Which is grreat. I'm not going to camp there, my parents say they'll let me go only if I don't camp. So I'm not camping. But I was sort of reluctant in staying in one of those cheap hotels until I saw Placebo live in Stockholm about half an hour ago and changed my mind. Placebo are worth every sacrifice. Every single one.
People who love bands understand what I say. And since Good Charlotte are going and Joana loves Good Charlotte ((go figure how)), maybe... *maybe* I'll see Brian Molko in August. Oooh, the joy. ;D And Mew are playing too!! I want to see Mew. I'm curious.

Ooooh, I just got back from my David Gray concert. ;D It was sooo fabulous.
It was weird, because I really felt like the audience and David connected. Like when he played the last song of the night ("Please Forgive Me", a personal favourite), he stood up on top of his piano, and ran around, getting everyone to clap together and sing along, and just really pumped up the crowd. It was great. ;D It was such a good way to end the show. (I've rambled enough, but if you want to read more, look here.)

*is revved* Tomorrow, Tori! And yeah, she's with Ben Folds Five. Yeah!
I love Tori's fans. They're so laid back and cool. I went to see a show at the Rosemont in Chicago a few years back, and a few of us were standing around in back because we heard she'd allow a meet & greet, but the buses were really late and it was about 100*F (no kidding) and we were very under-watered Anyway... point being that we ended up talking, me and my friends and a bunch of other people, and every single one of them was a well-read feminist with a quirky sense of humour. It was great.
So was Tori, but that's another story

Ben Folds? *swoons* I've been so in love with him since like the fifth grade. Although I really like his stuff with BFF, his solo work is even better. I've heard that he puts on a really great show, complete with key-tars.
I love making concert-friends. You know you'll never talk to or see them again, but you still have this really cool connection with them because of the music and other stuff.
I can't wait to her how it went. ;D Be sure to let me know.

*grins* yeah, concert-friends are cool. I don't really have that many stories about concert friends (except of the times I asked to get lifted so I could do a spot of crowd surfing or whatnot) but the best time I had concert-related was actually sitting in the line for RENT tickets. You know, they leave the first two rows of the show unbooked and you can only get them if you sit outside the theatre before the show. So, my friends and I were 2nd in line, and we got talking to the group of people in the line before us. They'd also seen RENT like, 3 times as well and we talked about what we liked and didn't like about the show and everything there really was about it. We even shared our lunch with them, and in return they gave us blankets to sit on (the pavement was pretty cold after about 5 hours). The best bit? When the call for the cast to show up at the theatre came (it's like, 2 hours before the show starts, and we had been there for almost 6), they saw how we had all bonded over their music and were so flattered that they invited all of us backstage after the show, so I got to meet the cast (who are an awesome bunch of people, real friendly like) as well as some really cool Rentheads, even if it only was for one day.
