Jewel The only song I've ever heard by Lifehouse is Hanging By A Moment, but it's still a great song...I'll shut up now...
Never shut up about music. There's always someone out there who's willing to listen. Someone insane.
Anyway, Lifehouse, I highly recommend you, or else, ORDER you to buy No Name Face. Lifehouse's style is really not my thing but that album just fills me up. If you don't want to waste money on something you don't know (highly understandable, if you end up hating it it'll be a waste of money), here are some songs you can download:
- Simon - Everything - Sick Cycle Caroussel (or however you spell it) - Somewhere In Between - Breathing - Trying
I adore the first four, specially 'Somewhere In Between', I've felt like that too many times.
Jewel... you're talking about 'Intuition' plastic Jewel or the old Jewel who had decent songs and decent lyrics? Pieces Of You is such a great album. I've been a fan for so long, but when she started to get all... pop, I lost interest. Pieces of You still played a major role in some period of my life and it's one of those special albums I have. Don't listen to it that often but I still get touched when some songs pop up.
I haven't been listening to anything new... just a portuguese band no one would know - Ornatos Violeta. It's over now, he's moved on to another band called Pluto I haven't listened to yet but... it's kinda surprising that I'm listening to national music. Boyfriend influences.
Oh, liar. Portishead. Another boyfriend influence, but I've fallen in love with Beth and Dummy.

Well I am fond of DISTURBED, they mix 80's rock with the new type of rock sort of like Slipknot and Hatebreed.

- David Bowie (*swoon* Carry me off in your spaceship, Ziggy Stardust!) - Todd Lewis, vocals and guitar for the Toadies (Very powerful vocals, listen to "Backslider" and "Push the Hand")
- Rush (Better than sweet Canadian bacon...) - The Who ("My Generation" is probably my fav song of theirs) - Steve Miller Band ("Gangster of Love" and the instrumental beauty that is "Song For Our Ancestors") - The Doors ("The Spy") - Led Zepplin, Grateful Dead, Guns n' Roses, Jimi Hendrix (I salute ye, o mighty gods of rock!)

Dan, there's nothing bad with liking Nelly Furtado's songs and all, because she's got some pretty good ones too.
Gabi, I was reading the newspaper this morning and there was this advertisement, where they're looking for someone who's really into music, and knows alot about it. Guess where my mind raced off to? You know, I really see you working with stuff to do with music and all, becaause it seems you really love it, hmm?

I'm currently discovering The Eels. I love their music. It's so quirky with great lyrics.

GO PORTUGAL!! ;D
No, she's not Canadian.
It's no reason to be ashamed of, the songs from her new album are really catchy, and even I fell in love with "Try". And her type of songs has nothing to do with me, believe me. But the song's wonderful, and I could identify with the whole "and I see you standing there, wanting more from me, and all I can do is try". So don't be ashamed. And it's something my country's known for, so yay You can catch her singing in Portuguese in her new single .. though that's Portuguese with Azores accent, but nevertheless
So, it's my duty to inform you that THE VINES FRIGGIN' ROCK!!!
I finally bought Winning Days. True, it could be called Highly Evolved II, but it doesn't make it any less wonderful. I love it. Love it. LOVE IT. For those who remember, I used to be obsessed with this band (and Craig Nicholls), the thing died a bit but now it just came back... I don't know, currently, I'm in love with The Vines. That's all.
*moves hysteria somewhere else*

Ooh Rita, is Winning Days really that great? I want that album! You have no idea how much I wanna buy that album. My favourite band... I d'nno... I like stuff that's sorta, different. So I like Something Corporate because they have a piano (I liked their older stuff better, though...). I like Yellowcard, I especially love the One for The Kids album. I'm into The Ataris, even though they're not really that original... Oh, and I like the Bouncing Souls. And Anti-Flag... How can anyone pick a favourite band? Oh, and Lifehouse really is great. Even though I only have Simon and Hanging on by a Moment, I love both those songs. R.E.M.'s great too...

I love Lifehouse, their first album is so calm and relaxing to listen to.
I don't know about The Vines..I have Highly Evovled and they sound too much like "Beatle-Wannabes" and it bothers me a lot.
but I have a new love....The Darkness Their album kind of dropped into my lap, so to speak, and I listened to it and I love all their songs. I later met them and their really cool. Dan is a little more down-to-earth and clam than Justin, who just loves to ave a party all the time. I love 'em both and Frankie is awesome, I didn't get to talk to Eddie too much though...he was off somewhere else.
I'm really pulling for them to get really popular in the states, not just like a "One Hit Wonder" but if they don't so be it, more for me.

See, the thing is, all this stupid neo-rock bands are all Beatles-wannabes. They all have the same sound, the same kind of chorus, the same rythm. Examples? The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes, The Hives, Jet. And The Vines. I just merely picked one, and I know I picked the most original one. They're not Beatles wannabes, and you're the first person I hear calling them so. If you were saying that Craig is trying to be Kurt Cobain, I'd say "I've heard that one before". But Beatles wannabes? Hah. One is always learning. But it's ok, if you're favourite band is The Darkness.
Nicky, Winning Days is much more mature than Highly Evolved, maybe that's why I love it so much. HE was too raw for me. I love it, but I wouldn't listen to it constantly. But WD is different, more mature, more... ellaborated. Though they do kind of sound the same thing, it's different. Autumn Shade II, Winning Days, TV Pro, Amnesia, FTW. Just a few names.

Um... Ti, why would you want your favourite band to be popular? Isn't it more special when they're not? Like, I freak when I see some of my favourite bands on MTV (unless it's between 2 and 4 am on a weekday.) I hate it when girls who don't know who Kurt Cobain was say they love Nirvana. I hate girls (I knew one of these well. Never talk to her anymore.) who only pretend to like a band because it impresses a guy for a girl to like prog rock. Like they play it all the time so they memorize the lyrics (if there are lyrics) and the rythm of the song and then they sing them and theguys are like "You like that stuff?" I can't stand those girls.
So yeah, I wanna buy Winning Days. I'm also going to buy the new Mago de Oz album. It's out next month. ;D I think I'll also buy the old one. The new Midtown's out soon too, June 29th. And I wanna buy the re-issue of Yellowcard's first album... And something by the bouncing souls. And every Saves the Day album. I need to start saving.
Speaking of which, I changed my mind. My favourite artist is probably Saves the Day. There wasn't a time this semester that my mp3 player I took for school did not have at least 2 Saves the Day songs. And it's really great music too. Of course, my opinion on who my favourite artist is will probably change next week.
