Yeah... but I occasionally appreciate that change in the way things usually are. I normally really like finding people I identify with. But other times, I like the challenge of trying to understand someone who is very different from myself.

Stop me if I'm wrong here, Cal, but Gen, I think Cal was going for the 'everyone is human enough that I can understand them' angle?
I mean, I'm really very little like Snape (er, I think?) and so I love puzzling over his character; but he's still close enough to people I've known, or even to me, that thinking about him as a true person is possible -- and gives me more to think about.
So, basically I'm saying I think you and Cal are probably doing the same thing from different angles. But I could be mistaken

At the moment i am having trouble trying to identify myself with any of the characters within the books. I think the problem i have at the moment is that i am half raven and half huff because i work hard.
I agree with Rue that j.k.rowling needs to develop the huffs more and she also needs to develop the Ravenclaws because the two main ones i really do not feel an infinity with.
I think you and Calantha are doing the same thing but from totally different perspectives but it is intresting to hear the different viewpoints that you both put across. Personaly i like trying to figure out why that character has ended up with that particular personality.

I think I'm like Hermione because I've always done really well in school. I thought I was even more like her after seeing the 1st movie, but I'm not sure why. Maybe because there's a picture of me from when I was little and my hair looks bushy like hers The difference between us, though, is that I'm not anywhere near as serious about schoolwork as she is...for example, I have a midterm due on Monday and yet I'm here instead

Hmm...I guess I'll have to go with Hermione because I've always done well in school. I look absolutely nothing like her, and I'm nowhere NEAR as serious about schoolwork as she is, but I can't think of anyone in the books I can identify with more. Plus, I get exasperated with my guy friends when they don't understand how they've upset me or one of my other girl friends, even when I try to explain So yeah, I'm gonna say I'm most like Hermione.

Yeah, I have to say that the parts in book 5 when Hermione was trying to explain things to Harry cracked me up! I thought they were written so well b/c just about everyone I know (guys and girls) related to that part.

well, i cant really say i'm like any ONE character... but i think i would be the most like Tonks - a little wild and wacky but funny, and a relatively good person. Maybe a little of a selfpossesed Ginny (from the fifth book) however... I definitely have a little bit of Draco in me - please dont make me mad, it can be dangerous! Add a dash a Luna- kind of spacy, and misunderstood- and VOILA! Essence of Dare

So who would say that the character they most resemble has changed? Is that because you found a character more like yourself, or because you have changed?
Looking back -- I said I was like Lupin, but really, I wish I were like Lupin, and I feel more like Percy might in a couple of books when he gets his head screwed back on straight (*crossed fingers*). I've let my employer lead me a merry dance these last couple of years, and now I'm wishing I hadn't let my ambition blind me to what was really going on. *sigh* Luna, I feel a deep connection with because... that's who I was in high school Picture Luna living a little closer to the gender frontier, and that's me ages 13-17.

Well, I am most like Dumbledore. I know what's going on but I let people figure things out for themselves... But I can't help it if I do have some Harry in me...

I'd also have to say I most like hermione. Since I've always done well in school, and I try really hard to get good grades. I also look like her sort of, if I fix my hair just right.

Well, I'm still predominantly Bill-esque, although I think I've put a big Tonks streak in lately, and academically, I'd like to think I was Hermione-ish, but I think I'm more Ron/Ernie/Seamus.

Has anyone changed from the character they previously thought they were most like to now? I, of course, would love to be a Weasley (it's my secret wish, maybe the long lost redheaded sister? I'd prefer to be older though, not younger), but I think I've become even more of a Lupin than I was before.
And even to broaden it, if you don't feel like you're a certain character, is their a family you think you could easily belong to?
