i hope that you and Drgnphre are right that he will eventually see that fudge is not happy even though he is high up in the ministry.
Wonder how his family are going to bring him round back to his senses again?

Actually, it wouldn't be difficult to control Percy, unless he decides to start doing things on his own. Getting a big head doesn't stop Voldemort from trying to control him. All Percy needs is a "trusted" advisor, and he can easily be controlled that way.
Then you have the other Ministry members who just want their own power and such; they might even start using Percy's family to get what they want. Either give the Weasley's lots of money, or threaten to hurt them if Percy doesn't listen to him.
*Shrugs*
If I wanted to control the Ministry in a time like this, I'd use a puppet; The puppet would be the target, not me

Does anyone know what percy got in his Newts?
I actually do not trust the ministry because i wouldn't put it past fugde for him to use percy as a puppet.Pers
Personally i see percy not as a death eater but more of a wormtail character more of a servant to voldermort and covering his eyes like he did with crouch.

whatever happened to P. Clearwater--his sweetie from Hogwarts? Maybe she could pound some sense into his head unless she is just like him..
personally, I don*t see a lot of hope for the little idiot.

What I think will determine whether Percy goes in with Voldemort will be whether Percy can be convinced that a) Muggles are sub-human and/or b) the kind of power Voldemort wields is good for Percy. I can see him becoming convinced of b) -- but only if Voldemort can convince Percy that Voldemort doesn't believe a), which he actually does, and Percy knows that. See, the first time round, Voldemort could have roped in all kinds of people by promising them power and a new order that was better for wizards and so forth, but now people know he's a bigoted mass murderer who demands absolute obedience -- even unto murder -- from his servants. Percy might not believe Voldemort is back, because he's in denial, but he knows what Voldemort is.
And it's going to be really tricky for Voldemort to convince a Weasley, even one making decisions as poor as Percy's, that Muggles deserve to die and Muggle-born witches and wizards should have no rights or education. Percy might believe his father made the wrong choices in career advancement, and Percy might have the wool over his eyes with regard to Dumbledore because Percy hero-worships Fudge... but I don't know that Percy could become a murderer.
Maybe that will be the thing that brings him around. If Voldemort makes a pass at him and Percy realises that power for power's sake can result in atrocity. When in denial and offered the things he's always wanted, he can be pulled far enough to reject his family and use manipulative tactics to try to bring Ron along... but I don't think he can be convinced to get in league with a murderer.
But then again, one doesn't want to believe anyone can be pulled that far, and yet look what happened in Germany in the late 30's....

Well are you saying that there is still a chance that percy will go over to the darkside despite his upbringing?
I'm not sure. I think it might be possible for percy to become a murderer if he thought it would higher his position in the ministry because when they offered him barty crouchs job he accepted it wihtout considering how it might upset his father.
I'm not sure because when percy first went into work and ron said percy would go to any lengths to further his career even putting his own family into the wizard prision.

I think Percy is blind. Which is his own doing of course. He is blinded by his high ambitions and standards, therefore causes him to break away from his father, his family. It’s really kind of sad once you think about it. If he would just open his eyes and cast away that close minded way of viewing things, everthing would be so much better for him and his family. It pains me to see someone as loving and warm as Mr. Weasley grow so cold and stiff when ever Percy is mentioned. Like I said before; it’s sad. And I hate seeing, or reading about these sort of situations.

Sadly i think its going to take a big shock for percy to open his mind again.
Maybe percy will get fired from the ministry and once he is on the outside he will see that they used him to their advantage because he was blinded by his ambitions. Such as wormtail was blinded by his greed.

Possible. We also have yet to see how Fudge is going to deal with Voldemort's return. Will he go back into denial? Will he try to hush it up and convince himself a special task force of Aurors can deal with it before anyone knows? Will he announce he was wrong and that Britain must rally against the enemy? Will he blame Harry and/or Dumbledore? Will he claim they're in league with Voldemort?
If Fudge chooses an underhanded way of dealing with it, there's always a chance Percy will find out and revolt, and if Fudge is honest and asks the public for help, Percy will have to deal with the knowledge that his family were right about Voldemort being back -- and that his family are involved in the best anti-Voldemort force out there.
So much depends on Fudge. And that's such a depressing thought

I know sometimes i wonder why they choose fudge when dumbledore rejected the offer of becoming ministry of magic organizer.
Personally i can't see fudge handling voldermorts return very well as he is so easily led by rita skeeter and the daily prophet. I think he will probably go into hiding or deny the existence of voldermort despite the evidence which exists.
And if fudge denies the existence of voldermort will percy defy him or continue working with him regardless?

This is what I've thought ever since book 4: If Percy thinks that the Death Eaters even have the potential of holding the most power, he will join them. Of course he'd want to be one of the early birds. He'd probably think that entitled him to something special. My grim suspicions were only confirmed by the way he treated his family in the fifth book.
We don't know that Percy hates muggles/muggle-borns, but we don't know that he doesn't hate them. Perhaps his father's adoration for all things muggle and Percy's loss of respect for his father will drive him to side with the Death Eaters.

I sort of hoped that he would regain respect for his father and muggle borns but since the letter in the fifth book to ron it sort of gave me doubts.
You mean that percy will use this as a form of revenge on his father?

Dunno about revenge; I think he'd just do it to prove he's a "better man" than his da. Since Percy seems to think more money = better.
*shudders at Leia's idea* That's awful -- but dead on, I bet. What if Percy does particularly hate things Muggle because of his da's job? The only hope I have that he won't actually go over to Voldemort then is that he did help the "good guys" the night of the World Cup, and that he didn't tell Ron not to associate with Hermione in that letter....

he did help the "good guys" the night of the World Cup, and that he didn't tell Ron not to associate with Hermione in that letter.... Both true, but a lot can happen to a person in a year. Compare how Harry was acting in the beginning of the fourth book to how he acted in the beginning of the fifth. So it all just depends on lots of things...

I think thats awful that percy will turn into a death eater because he does not want to be like his father because at the moment his feelings concentrate on money and power. I hope that he will change but i have a feeling that he won't and become like wormtail incapable of leaving voldermort because of the immense power he gets and the rewards.
Do you think what Ron said in book four to Sirus was j. k rowlings way of warning the reader?
Do you think he didn't tell ron not to hang out with hermione because of her persistency with the rules most of the time where as harry has broken them more than often?
