I'm dying to go watch it. I had a trailer on my copy of Shrek2, and I keep watching it over and over. I absolutely adore the penguins! Especially the part one of them does, "You didn't see anything", it just stuck in my mind.

Okay, so I DID get around to watching Madagascar last night. It was hilarious! Hermy, I first saw the trailer for it on the Shrek2 DVD as well and I was like, "I HAVE to watch this!!" It's really good. I think it will appeal to kids and adults on different levels too.
There's this one scene when Alex (the lion) is having a dream about steak, and they do this hilarious ripoff of that bit in American Beauty with the rose petals. I was almost crying from laughing so hard.
Those penguins! Haha! They are the funniest characters in the whole movie. I can't remember if they had it on the Shrek2 DVD but there's the bit when they hijack the boat because they're trying to escape right, and that was like, incredibly funny because it's just so... wrong.
And watch out for the monkeys too. I wish they had more monkeys in the movie, but otherwise... it's really worth watching.

So I watched it last night, and I was like.... . 4 of the smilies, because there are 4 penguins!Spoilers here! You just have to love them when they go "Just smile and wave boys, smile and wave." And when they get to Antarctica!! When the movie finished I was going "I want one!!"
And that old lady. She was downright scared now wasn't she?

I went and saw Sin City a few days ago. That movie is really, really good. I thought the comic-book style of filming was going to annoy me, but you barely even notice it. It works really well. I'm going to go see it again soon.

Madagascar was hilarious, but only because of the side characters. The king lemur was funny, so were the penguins and the monkeys. I laughed so hard when they got to antarctica and said "well this sucks"

I'm going to go see it again soon. I saw Sin City a few nights ago as well and I totally loved it. It's probably one of the better movies I've seen all year. It's done so true to the graphic novel (which I've read - the dialogue, colouring, even the appearance of the characters is almost identical) and with the little bits of Tarantinoesque violence thrown in... wow. It's so good. I'd definitely go see it again.

Heres a fun fact...Tarantino was payed $1 US for the scene he directed in that movie...I found that interesting...which scene was it that he did?

I just googled it... on MovieWeb it says "Tarantino filmed a scene in the final segment featuring Clive Owen, Benicio Del Toro and Brittany Murphy." but I can't think of which scene it would be except for the ones in Brittany Murphy's character's apartment, because I don't think there's another time when the three are together... Oh, actually, on imdb it says "Guest director Quentin Tarantino directed the scene involving Dwight (Clive Owen) and Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro) in the front of the car, before Dwight is pulled over by a police officer." So I guess that's the bit when he's driving and Jackie Boy is like talking to him while he goes to the tar pits.
That's so cool about the $1 thing. Robert Rodriguez actually got $1 for doing the score to Kill Bill for Tarantino, so I think it worked for both of them.

THATS RIGHT! I couldnt remember why he only got a dollar, I knew it was something like that but rather than guess and maybe get it wrong I just didnt bother...Man that was a violent movie though..but being a guy I loved it! its a very Guy Movie on account of the fact that all the guys were macho bad-assess,all the chicks were scantilly clad hussies and all the cars were vintage.

Gah, I'm not going to go into the representation of women in this one... I totally love the movie though DESPITE THAT (!!) and hey, news is that Rodriguez is plannin on making another Sin City movie next year to be released in 2007 because he wants to put the rest of Frank Miller's books into film.
The other thing... the samurai swords that Miho uses in the movie are the same as the ones used in Kill Bill by Uma Thurman... Tarantino stored them in his garage (!!) and lent them out for the movie.

Its good to see that someone loves useless facts as much as I do! I dont think they should do another movie because it will either be exactly the same and turn out old and boring or it will be different and crappy...sequals never work properly...except kill bill but that was all one story..that was more of a part 2

Well, if you think about it, Sin City was really 3.5 (if you count the opening) stories that were just interwoven... they could redo that with different stories and everything. Last I heard also, there are two more Sin City films in the works... one to be out at the end of 2006 and one in 2008.
I love useless movie trivia. ;D

I enjoyed the opening and closing! that guy was cool! Yeah but I mean the concept, not the stories...
While we are at it... In the movie casablanca, everyones favourite and most remembered line " play it again sam" was never actually said in the entire movie....Donald Duck comics were banned from Finland because he doesn't wear pants.... and lastly Jack Nicholson film - "As Good As It Gets", is known in China as "Mr. Cat Poop"....

Look beyond the fact that the women are NICE TO LOOK AT. The only "weak" female character when compared to the rest is Brittany Murphy's character since she doesn't really do much to aid the plot, but at she DEFENDS HERSELF from Jackie Boy's thug friends. The lesbian parole officer isn't portrayed as some disgusting stereotype, but a beautiful, smart, and sympathetic woman who has enough guts to pull herself back together to aid Marv after WATCHING HER OWN HAND BEING EATEN. Rosario Dawson's character Gail is practically the goddess Kali. Pardon me if I sound upset, but would you still call Sin City a movie where women are portrayed badly if you compared it to what it COULD HAVE been? See some brainless women forced into prostitution by the mob and the pimps like in the "old days" or see some street-smart, self-sufficient women who own themselves and their sexuality?
Hell, even my mother, who often has gut reactions to similar content, not only read the "Art of Frank Miller" and watched the movie adaptation, but afterwards walked away smiling, saying that Frank Miller obviously loves and has a great respect for women. And she meant it, it wasn't a flippant or sarcastic comment.
