In latin america, the SAT is instituionalized, that means that I've had to sit one SAT per uni application; and also we took SAT's when we were going to begin secondary school and when we were going to begin prep school, so basically I've taken like, 6 SAT tests in my life.... Sphi, that's also how I got an 8... the schools can choose to grade them like that... my last time, at the other uni, I'd gotten 1467 so I'm really glad I got this for my firm choice, especially since the thing I want to study is with a limited space, so we gotta have over 1300 SAT, 3 interviews (one with the Head, two with psychologists), and over 80 average from high school... I have an 88 so I'll have to do really well this semester to raise it some more... I'm really really happy, lol... =) 734 Math, 774 Verbal. It's graded based on how many you get wrong... you get a point for every right answer and minues one-fourth for every wrong one... then that is changed to the thousands with a rubric or something... The IB is graded on a bell curve though... That makes me nervous, especially in spanish class, where most everyone is sooo much better than me.

Okay, so the system itself is pretty different. But the scoring is the same: +1 point for correct answers, -1/4 for incorrect answers. Those math and verbal scores are really good, though.
I did well on my AP Spanish Lit test. I was a little surprised.

See, our system's totally different. We always get 2 sets of exams a year, one in February and the other in June. The ones in June reflect in which class you'll end up the next year. Except for this year, because I had my O' Levels, so they reflected if I could get into college or not.
So does this mean you received your results Sphi? Congrats!!

Congrats on your marks everyone! (Bah, you are such a cleverl lot! )
Hehe, so it's like a math and verbal test? Sounds like the GRE (the Graduate version of the SATs) that I did... it's like got maths and this godawful list of 3000+ vocab words you have to know or something and reading comprehension and essays... I actually liked the essays, you had to do two in response to two different issues (like one was to write a persuasive piece and the other was to critique a piece) and I scored really well on that, in the 96th percentile. But math was a completely different issue, I did that and I was like 50%. Luckily they don't really care about math that much where graduate philosophy is concerned...

First of all everyone I'd like to give my sincere apologies for my absence over the past three days. I was attending the UK Youth Parliament National Sitting at Leicester University for three days. Very tiring (in two nights I slept for two hours only) but it was great.
In relation to that, if you are aged between 11-18 living in the United Kingdom then please PM me.

I start on the 1st of October so I still have a bit to go. ;D
How come you guys have to do homework during the summer? We never get any. I've always wondered that while reading HP.

We never get any either. Holidays are holidays, period. I guess Mediterranean countries do it better
I started September 12th, I guess. It's going to be a big change, since I'm moving out. I'm excited but fearful, I don't know if things will be OK.

You guys are all so freaking lucky, starting so late and not getting any sort of assignment over the summer! I start on August 22 too.

I'm a lucky, afraid person. And this time I really have to study hard, so my parents won't think their money is being wasted unecessarily. It's just that it's the first time I'll be so far away from home, living on my own - although it's a student residence - and But I'm excited for the course itself.
And who knows they won't be giving us holiday assignments at that school. When I went there to register it was plain July and there were students there editing videos.
I kinda missed you Sphi, which is weird since we never spoke much. *raises eyebrow*

What is the course on Rita? Is it really really good? well... maybe the students there are like us in IB... it's been a crazy ride, which has included doing homework and social service hours during the summer... I did 56 CAS hours over the summer, plus I wrote over 1300 words for my tok essay (well... after editing like a million times... I'm positive I wrote over 3000 words and then cut most of it) and I did my cas diaries and stuff. I also read 12 books that were not required.
