;D Though I'm surprised at myself, I should be more excited. Anyway, I'm gonna ask my dad if I can pre-order it already like I did with OoTP, I don't want the crappy Portuguese version and I want to read it first than everyone here.

Well, she did say that HBP would be a little shorter than OotP. I don't know about the exact number of chapters, though. Where'd you find that, Hermy?
I'm totally excited for this. Except in a small corner of my mind, all I can think of is that after this one, there'll only be one more...

It says so on her website (I went back there and had more time to figure out the door and the clues and stuff. Fun stuff! Thanks for the tip, pkia:)). I honestly didn't think the 6th book would be done this soon....well, and when I say soon, I say that in comparison to how long it took Ootp to come out. I love how that woman has fun with her site and lets the readers have fun too.
I know what you mean though, Sphi, just one book left after this, and then it'll be over...hmm, I'm not choosing to think about that yet.

Personally, I'm not uer excited either. I dunno why.
But my dad said I shouldn't pre-order it just now. I mean there are still 7 months to go. I'll probably order it in April or something.

I want to pre-order it now. Having that email from Borders in my inbox is too tempting.

I'm pre-ordering it around February. I'd do it now, it's just that it's too close to Christmas and I don't want to over-charge my father with money issues. But yeah, I'm not that excited either, which is rather stupid since I have no clue what's gonna happen in this one. This should be something to look out for, shouldn't it? Not knowing anything about the upcoming volume? But no, I'm as uninterested as a girl could be. And it makes me mad. Perhaps it'll grow with time. I think that ever since they started exploring Harry Potter things got a bit too overrated. I never really cared about the exploration as long as the book quality was always the same, but I have to say the last book disappointed me a little bit and no, it's not just because of Sirius's death. It was just ... different.

Maybe I just feel like this because I have never experienced it. Like, I came on TD when OOTP had come out. I probably registered that summer. So, I had never experienced the real anxiety of waiting for a book, and discussing what might come in the next book etc. This is my first time. So that might be it.

Mina, you hit on a point I've been a little worried about, too. For me, I'm excited for the book to come out, so I have to disagree with those who aren't excited, but what has worried me is the fact that (and this is getting to what you said, Mina) OOTP went into a more lotr-like detail about some of the characters, and their past. For me, that sort of information only stays in my head so long until I forget about it, and then when more new information is given, I overlook it as something that isn't hugely important and so I forget about it soon....until I come here and read that what I overlooked was some really interesting piece of history that explains a previous point or plot in the book.
And little ol' me and my sometimes simple brain just didn't pick up on it at all.
Hmm....maybe that's the OCD coming out in me and to everyone this is a really trivial thing, but to put in plain words, I guess I'm just worried that I'm not going to be able to follow real well a complex revealing of the history of characters and their significance to the current plot. (for example, I read at JKR's site how Molly was related to these two people that died and were mentioned in Ootp and their deaths explain a great deal why she behaves the way she does with Harry and with the Ootp, but you won't officially hear more detail on that until you get to the 6th book, and as of right now, those two names aren't familiar to me, other than the faint idea that they might have been members of the Order. )
*blushes* Um...yeah, feel free to ignore me. I am seeing much more clearly now that this is OCD coming out in me, haha.

I never really experienced the anxiety of the upcoming book either, although I've started from the very beginning, and I belong to the group of people who read it first in Portugal. I own the first edition of Book 1, with a very badly made cover, before those official ones started coming out. And then before I knew it, Book 2 was already out (I have the first edition with the different cover as well). And then my dad was in Florida and brought me Book 3, which wasn't out here yet. And then Book 4 came out, after a while. So the first four books were really coming out really fast and there wasn't much time left for speculation, I suppose. Book 5 expectation was also my first Harry Potter long-wait. But I don't know, I think gradually I might end up being excited. I know me, it's gonna be something that'll hit me when I'm not expecting it too. Moira, yeah, I understand that. Though I'm like the opposite. I absorb the character's past and descriptions, and completely ignore the details. So sometimes when I come here I also don't know what the heck or who the heck these people are talking about.

I love all the detail! *eats it up*
I'm really excited about the new book coming up, but I will be more so when the spring/summer months roll around.
I understand in the back of your mind thinking "There's only one more left after this!" And it is a little sad, but on the other hand...there are four more movies that need to come out!
Annnndddd, the book is coming out on my birthday, which is grand!

I've just seen on www.amazon.co.uk that you can pre-order an HBP copy for £9.99 and they send it to you as soon as they get it from the publishers....so would you have to pay more after you receive it or is the £9.99 all you have to pay ?

Wiz, £9.99 is the price of the book excluding posting and packaging. But at times, British people don't pay for that.
I'm really glad it's coming out in July because it will be during the holidays, although I might be working at the time.

How much is that in US dollars? I pre-ordered it already from Borders for $17.99, I think.
I know! I'm so glad it's coming out in the summer--perfect timing. I used to say that June 2005 would be a perfect time for me. A little graduation gift. But this is just as good.
Ooh, where are you going to work, Hermy?

Well at Amazon.com it's being sold at the same price, excluding postage and packaging. But there's some Super Save icon near it so it might mean that the latter's free.
I don't know. It would only be a summer job of course. But I'm really excited nevertheless.
