Good news all you HBP UK-version buyers!!!(which would include me as well :
The length of the book is 608 pages.
What I find confusing is how the UK version is 608 pages while the US version published by Scholastic is 672. I think it's the change in publisher.

(Forgive me if I've stated this before ) I don't know if it would make that much of a difference (certainly not 64 pages ) but I know in the versions we get here in the US that there is artwork at the beginning of each chapter. It's not that large but it might mean that the text would start lower on the page than the European versions, thereby making our book a little longer.

I checked again and I think that the longer US version will be the one with 32 extra pages of content, which are basically artwork.
It would be nice to have artwork in our books too though.

I feel like it's been forever since we got some news about HBP...
MuggleNet reported this little blurb that was in a library catalog for pre-ordering HBP, but it might just be a rumor. It seems to me that they say that we'll find out about these "revelations" in every book.

Yup! That's the date! Which reminds me I still have to persuade my dad to book it for me online.
Yup I've read that one. It's a very good reference point actually.

I can't believe the cover is already out!! Thanks for posting the link, Hermy. The US one...it's so simple, yet there's something eerie about it. Like what exactly are Dumbledore and Harry looking at...? It looks like a Pensieve...so what, or whose, memory?
Hmm...the purple lettering doesn't look too bad, actually. I know I always make a big deal out of small things like that, but the cover does look nice with the green/purple color scheme. Kinda like how OotP's was all blue; we can definitely see a trend of the covers getting simpler yet more meaningful at the same time. It feels appropriate as the series comes to an end.
Yay for Mary GrandPre's style. ^_^

I read that the back jackets wouldn't be released because they expose too many parts of the plot. Oh I can't wait!
The US one looks really cool. And I really like the UK Adult version.
I think I'm gonna pre-order it from some shop here in Malta because Amazon won't be sending the book on the date of release to people outside the UK.

I found a short article about the Scholastic HBP version and Mary GrandPre's artwork:
If anyone is getting that deluxe version, maybe we can see the special pictures...?

I was reading through JK's Extra Stuff part of her website, and there's a bit about several ideas she had on how to start PS. Then, there's a bit on the first chapter of HBP, and she said that it's very similar to what she was going to write once for PS. And that got me thinking, that unless JK had made sure that the idea wasn't written there, it could be one of them.
There was one about a Muggle betraying the Potters, which she said she omitted later on because he was replaced by Pettigrew. There was another about the Potters living on a remote island, while the Grangers on the main land, and Mr Granger spots was seems to be an explosion. He then goes to the island and finds Harry. I think JK said this was her very first idea of the opening. Then there was one which began with Voldemort going to the Potter's home and killing them.
I think, if the beginning would be one of those three, it would of course be the third one, and it would make sense too, seeing how JK reassured in a conference that by the end of the 7th book, we'll know enough of the Potters and Marauders, and that could tie in perfectly to the fact that Harry's grandparents would be mentioned, as she said they will.
What do you guys think?
