Okay, my computer has been messing up so hopefully I'll be able to post this. I've read all the replies so far so I'll just post some agreements and some of my own thoughts. I can't see any symbols on the page so I'll have to forgo using any smilies I don't already know how to type in. 1 - Totally agree with KoNeko about the typos in the book. I started making a list but got too lazy to write all of them down, so my list is therefore incomplete. 2 - I definitely agree that it's Regulus as RAB. 3 - I was also thinking Harry could be a horcrux (could Voldy possibly have done it during the Sorceror's stone encounter, when he realized Harry was a force to be reconned with?). I also wondered if Wormtail's silver hand could be a horcrux. 4 - Dumbledore's picture is in his office at Hogwarts. We all know those portraited occupants can still share current thoughts and words of wisdom. Harry will obviously be returning to Hogwarts in some capacity. Besides, as the books are somewhat subtitled "Year __ at Hogwarts" I doubt they'd change that just for the last installment. 5 - I didn't really believe the bit with Draco crying to Myrtle. I though he was trying to pull a fast one and get info or something. But I guess it was genuine. 6 - No Ron/Hermione action in this one. :-( Book seven better come through on that. 7 - Dumbledore repeatedly talks about himself as an old fool who's made so many mistakes. Didn't he mention this like five times throughout the book? I found it odd that he was throwing out that type of remorse on his part, but I think he knew all along that he didn't have much time left. 8 - Yeah, from the get-go I completely believed that Snape was killing Dumbledore on Dumbledore's orders and that they were communicating through their minds during that final scene. I'd agree that they'd made an agreement because of Snape's role in the Order and perceived alliance to the Dark Side. Ha! Snape and Harry will have to work together now! 9 - Could Kreacher have helped Regulus get the locket? He could have easily fit in the boat and he would have had to follow Regulus's orders (assuming Reg was his master at that particular time). Maybe Regulus actually died of the poison after he obtained the locket, and was not really killed by the Death Eaters. 10 - I agree with Herm and SP that the inferi people in the lake are those that failed to get the locket. 11 - I'm sure Dumbledore left memories for Harry to experience in the pensieve. Maybe there are also some of Hagrid's memories, including one of rescuing Harry from the debris at Godric's Hollow? 12 - Snape/Half-Blood Prince -- but Snape was in Slytherin, even though he is a half blood. Why would he promote the half-blood part unless he's proud of it in some way? 13 - Perhaps the Malfoy's have a horcurx in their hidden drawing room. I remember the secret room being talked about but I can't remember if it was searced. Even if it was, they would have only been looking for dangerous Dark Arts items. They wouldn't have been able to tell if something was a horcrux. 14 - Andy, Snape couldn't tell Voldy where Order headquarters were because he was not the secret keeper for the location. and last, but not least.... 15 - Petunia is a witch!! Dudley is a wizard!!! Case closed!

why would the corpses in the cave be those of people who tried to get the locket? I cannot believe that many witches and wizards even know about the locket and what it was supposed to contain..
Petunia is not a witch and Dudley is not a wizard--never gonna happen.

I have to agree. While there is the possibility that some of the corpses in the cave were of people who had tried to retrieve the locket, I don't think all of them could have been. Not with how many there were. It's more likely that Voldemort collected the corpses of people he had killed and took them there.
And I think you'll find that Snape was proud of the Prince side of his family and wanted a way of taking on that name rather than that of his muggle father. It's also possibe that it wasn't until after he'd left school that he fell in league with the Death Eaters and therefore wasn't as ashamed of being half-blood.

I was surfing the web and came across another site that had a discussion about Draco/Dumbledore scene. Apparently, as per this other website, a line is missing from the UK version of book 6: ""I can help you, Draco." "No, you can't," said Malfoy, his wand shaking very badly indeed. "Nobody can. He told me to do it or he'd kill me. I've got no choice." "He cannot kill you if you are already dead. Come over to the right side, Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine."" (HBP pg 591/552) From: www.snitchseeker.com/vb3/showthread.php?threadid=26647I did not verify this information, so I am not sure how true it is. IF it is true, then I guess that could explain why Harry got 12 Grimwald Place and Kreacher and Luna's conspiracy therory about Serious (actually Regulus--R.A.B.) Make sense?

Are those lines really missing from the UK version?! That's crazy. They're such a crucial part of Draco's development. But I don't understand how that explains this theory about Sirius being Regulus...

As I said, I did not verify that the lines are missing in the U.K. version, just passing on the information.
I posted the link above, if you want to check it out.
There was a story in the Quibbler concerning Serious Black. It stated that Serious was actually Stubby Boardman.
My theory is that Regulus denounced Voldemort, stole the locket, and then went into some sort of Wizard Protection Program. That would explain Dumbledore's statement, "He cannot kill you if you are already dead. Come over to the right side, Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine." What if the Quibbler confused Serious with his brother Regulus--after he was in the Protection Program? A bit farfetched, but it seems to fit!
Also, does anyone think that Crookshanks is going to play a part in the last book? I don't remember the exact lines but, didn't Serious said that Crookshanks was very intelligent for her kind. Does that mean there is more to Crookshanks than meets the eye? Was he saying that Crookshanks is a Kneazle? (DB&WTFT pg 24.) Any thoughts?

J.K. Rowling has stated that Crookshanks is a kneazle....i think on her site.
Oy! What is it with all these theories? I understand one must discuss the book, but to come up with ridiculous theories that make no sense whatsoever?! You're looking WAY too deep into the book...

this is what the Brit edition says (I have the children's cover--waiting for the adult cover)
'I dare not speak to you of the mission with which I knew you had been intrusted, in case he used Legilimency against you,' continued Dumbledore. "But now at last we can speak plainly to each other...no harm has been done, you have hurt nobody, though you are very lucky that your unintentional victims survived....I can help you, Draco.'
'No, you can't.' said Malfoy, his wand hand shaking very badly indeed. "Nobody can. He told me to do it or he'll kill me. I've got no choice'
'Come over to the right side, Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine. What is more, I can send members of the Order to your mother tonight to hide her likewise. your father is safe at the moment in Azkaban...when the time comes we can protect him, too....come over to the right side, Draco...you are not a killer'
it is not there.......

Hm. That is very odd. How can one version just take that out completely?
Alderad, that's actually an interesting theory, that Regulus might still be alive. As I was reading, I didn't quite understand what Dumbledore meant by that "if you are already dead" part (actually, several of the things he said in HBP confused me, like that mouth organ part? ), but your theory makes a lot of sense. I mean, the R.A.B. message doesn't require him to be alive, but maybe Harry gets to meet him in the next book. It would be one way for Harry to learn more about Voldemort's history and about Sirius...
...I think I'd like that.

SP, I think that Dumbledore is trying to tell us that not everything is as it appears (mouth organ), and to not take things at face value.
I am starting to think more and more about the death scene and his funeral. Do Fred and George sell wands that produce green light? Whose body did Hagrid move? What was the "discussion" between Snape and Dumbledore about? Is Dumbledore really dead, or is he now using his apparent death to move freely behind the scenes?
Strategy vs Tactics Strategy-The science and art of military command as applied to the overall planning and conduct of large-scale combat operations.
Tactics-The military science that deals with securing objectives set by strategy, especially the technique of deploying and directing troops, ships, and aircraft in effective maneuvers against an enemy--A procedure or set of maneuvers engaged in to achieve an end, an aim, or a goal.
Yes, I am reading too deep into this book. I do that with EVERY BOOK I read. I cannot just read a book once and let it go. There are too many details that I miss in the first reading. I feel that it makes me a better problem solver if I can "find all the f's" (A technique used to find all the facts prior to making a decision. In finding all the "f's"--facts, we then create new questions to understand a topic better.) In this case, It helps me to build more layers in stories that I will write and revise. Layer upon layer, hidden forshadowing events, and hidden clues.
There are too many 'clues' being left for us. Some may call it suspense, others misdirection or misinformation. I just gotta know!

Actually, that's how it is in the Australian release as well. There's nothing about him saying Voldemort can't kill him if hes already dead. So now you all have me really confused. That scene made far more sense to me without the line.

For some reason, I'm really liking AlderadDangarian's Stubby/Regalus idea. Anyone think Harry's wand might actually be a horcrux, as it is the brother wand of Voldy's?

Does Stubby Boardman play the bass? Well the Bass player for the Weird Sisters was at the funeral.
Also, Snape stated that James kept stealing his spells. Snape really hated James, but is stealing his spells reason enough to want him dead. I think there is more to this...I still think that Snape's motivation was to get James out of the way so he could hook up with Lilly! Why was Lilly so good at potions, could the 'Prince's" book have something to do with this?
Note: I checked and Stubby is the lead singer of a different group (not the Wierd Sisters) and he is not a bass player.

I was thinking about the Snape/Lily/Potions thing as well. I think Snape's whole dislike of Harry has something to do with Lily hooking up with James instead of him... maybe they were friends or something during potions (which seems to be the only thing they have in common). I'm just thinking, remember how Lily reacted when James and Sirius were being mean to Snape and everything?
Ummm, anyway, back to horcruxes for a second... does anyone know if there is a way to put together a soul that has been split up? Has JK said anything?
