I definately think we're going to have to accpet that Dumbledore is gone. Rowling likes to remind us that magic can't do anything you want and that life is full of loss, whether we like it or not and just one of those things we have to accept. Besides, Harry said it perfectly: "He will only be gone from the school when none here are loyal to him,".I was thinking about that line too recently! I saw COS again, and this line got my mind racing: "Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it." Sounds quite coincidal with Dumbledore's situation doesn't it?
6. In book 3, the phoenix who rescued Harry and the others--could that have been Dumbledore?
Guin, or you referring to the Patronus? Because I can't remember a phoenix saving Harry & Co. It was Harry's Patronus.
You know, personally I always thought the wrapped up thing Hagrid was carrying was actually Dumbledore. I dunno. Perhaps it's best if I read the book again.
And yes, that line really is missing from the UK version. Now that I read it though, it confuses me more, because I don't know what to think. ""He cannot kill you if you are already dead."? I think what Dumbledore may have meant was that, when one goes on Voldemort's side, he becomes dead in a way. Crazy theory, and I dunno if this could ever be true, but, maybe when you become a DE, you give a part of your soul to Voldemort?
10 - I agree with Herm and SP that the inferi people in the lake are those that failed to get the locket.
Actually Izzy dear, that's not what I said. My theory is that those people in the lake are people Voldemort killed, or used dark magic upon them. Hence, that could explain how come Harry saw a hand in the water....Wormtail's new hand perhaps?
12 - Snape/Half-Blood Prince -- but Snape was in Slytherin, even though he is a half blood. Why would he promote the half-blood part unless he's proud of it in some way?
I think he'd have more of a reason to do it. Remember, Voldemort himself was half-blood. We know that Snape was always interested to the Dark arts, so, if he were alike Voldemort, that would have mad him feel more superior. Think of it, both are half-bloods, in Slytherin, like the Dark Arts, and just like Tom Riddle, who had fashioned the name "Lord Voldemort" for himself because he didn't like his name, Snape could have done the same and called himself "The Half-Blood Prince", because it made him seem more powerful, and there was no reason to hide behind a half-blood line, when the greatest sorcerer of that time was also a half-blood.
I think that Snape may have shown Lily his potions book at some point, but personally, I always saw Lily as another version of Hermione. Very good in school subjects, and so she'd have been quite good in Potions too. Nevertheless, I'm not ruling the former idea out. I think Snape always had a crush on Lily, and in showing her the book, he probably thought he'd attract her to him, and away from James.
Ummm, anyway, back to horcruxes for a second... does anyone know if there is a way to put together a soul that has been split up? Has JK said anything?
Well, JK has not said anything on that yet, but I don't think there is a way. I mean your soul isn't like a piece of cloth which you tear and sew back. It's more like a piece of glass, which once broken, it remains shattered, and can't come back into one again.
