That is insane. I think I gonna stay here though. My home uni has a pretty good Biomedical engineering program, though it is new (begun a couple years ago), it benefits from the goodness of the school's medical program =) It's awesome and nice and cool and I'm happy. =)

What does Biomedical engineering involve? Is it the creation of disease fighting cells?
Yes it is awfully complicated with the fee situation the only good thing is you don't have to pay anything upfront whereas you have to now.
i was thinking along the lines of a historian but there is very little information on how to enter the field.

Being a historian would be cool.... but most history majors end up being history teachers or proffessors... Biomedical engineering involves that yes, but also the design of prosthetic devices, or CAT scan machines, or fake blood... anything that can help doctors in their work or patients in their lives. =)

Has anyone else noticed the large amount of people on TD that want to be something that will really help other people? I think that's awesome!
So, I do want to be a teacher, but lately I've been putting a lot of thought in the being a Public policy/community service minor at my school and start a nonprofit organization in really rural areas for the arts.

You know, I never really thought much of it until now you mention it... But yeah. And that's what really matters, doing something that you love and that helps others. Because in the end, that's all there is left. Some people want to be engineers or doctors or lawyers but are only in it for the money, the fame, and that really really isn't worth anything.

That sounds really cool Nicky i hope you achieve it.
I'd really like to become a family historian and research into peoples ancestry.
I think its a pity if people enter into professions for the money it kind of spoils the caring side then.
Any ideas of how i can help people with history?
I think its cool that people want to go into caring for other people.

Well, history is more of an intellectual subject, isn't it? Though you might help people learn about their roots, both personal and cultural and whatnot... and remember that People who do not know the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them. You can stop that from happening. Yeah, going into things for money really sucks... some kids go into law school or med school or whatever for the money, then wake up one day when they're older and realize they hate everything in their lives... I wouldn't like that to happen to me.

i could go into law school after my history degree but i'm not going to as i really do not want to spend my life in law rooms just so i can obtain money. The same way i do not want to go into economics.
I would absolutely love to become a genalogist but since the qualifying age is average 40 i need to find another job first.
I've been considering the foreign office.

Yes that's right a genealogist studies family histories and traces the family tree for people.
At the moment i'm having enough difficulty trying to decide on what language i want to study next year.

Natz, do you have an idea of what language you want to study? I mean, like a lot of the European languages are similar, or if you want you could do something like Japanese or Mandarin or something really random.

At the moment no. I have an option between Arabic Chinese. German French Italian Spanish Russian Japanese.
and these are the elective modules i am able to choose.
I would much appreciate any help as these are elective modules you get about four hours worth of lectures a week with them and possibily a tutorial.

Oh man. I want to learn another language. Actually, I want to learn German and Swedish, so I can talk to my friends in their own languages. Plus German would be REALLY helpful when I actually go to Germany, so I don't look like a confused tourist.
