What?! it's not? Oh well, sorry about that...I was quite positive that it was... You don't like Little Mermaid? Well, I'm sure you have good reasons why not.

onr thing Calantha, what is wrong with having a crush on spirit?!!? I own the movie, have watched 21 times, and absoluteley love spirit, which may have something to do wwith my obsession with horses, but who really cares? besides, i love when spirit makes that really long jump at the end, and the music is GREAT!

It's Ok, Kagome.
What I loved most about Mulan is how well they made the transition, as you said, from one culture to another. They must've really studied hard for that. And the way they speak, always comparing our acts with the acts of nature and all. Really great. The songs, everything... it's so oriental. So perfect.
And the scene when the Huns are coming down that cliff full of snow has to be one of the best computerized scenes Disney ever made. That one and when most of the city's population is bowing at her. With the lights going down and all. That scene is brilliant.
And you're right. She's not baking or going to the ball.
But Ariel isn't either. She does something too.

I remember watching the "My Reflection" video for Mulan and I thought the girl singing it had a beautiful voice! When I tried to hit the notes she did, I just couldn't! I even notived that the girl looked liked me. A couple of years later..maybe less...I saw the same girl in the video "Genie in a Bottle." And there started my Christina Aguilera obsession phase....anyways...
I always like Beauty and the Beast for some reason. I LOVED one of the songs in Hercules. It was the one where Megan? was singing and the little black women were singing along with her. It's been so long since I've seen the movie...My and my friend in 3rd grade would point out which goddess? we were. They made me the large one! lol. They thought they were funny...
I have ALL of the Aladdin tapes, except for the recent one. I forgot what it was called. I used to have a Jasmine bed spread and pillow case for the longest time. I even wanted to be her for one Halloween but I ended up benig Cinderella.
Speaking of, I liked that movie too. I haven't seen it in FOREVER! THis topic brings back so many movies.
HAKUNA MATATA. Hee hee. The Lion King! I used ot sing all of those songs...
I am quitting now. I thin I might just go and pop in a movie...a Disney movie....

Whoa there buddy. Nothing wrong with liking Spirit, I think it's a great movie and I think that Spirit is a great role model for little kids, I love the movie, but you have to admitt that outer spiecies crushes is a little...odd? Admiring sure, admire the horse, maybe we all should a little bit...admire the movie, sure, the animation was great, admire the storyline, sure, freedom, fighting for what is right and great, I love it. I'm not making an attack on the movie at all, or a person who admires the character of Spirit.

*chuckles* Dunno Cal -- I've had a crush on Beast for ages, to say nothing of Kala (what a babe... smart, outspoken, a hunter... *whistles*).
I guess when characters have human emotions and speech, that qualifies them, doesn't it? I mean... you know me, physical attraction is the least of my concerns usually

I don't know...I guess for me it's more of an admiration thing. Even though they may have human characteristics, it's more of a "wow, they are a great character" and so I admire them for that...but I don't like them in a romantic way, which would be your common crush, right? I don't know if I'm making sense with my point or not...

*laughing* Yes, of course. And it's not like I'd probably really date Beast, but if I were single and found a human a lot like him in personality (and voice, wow) -- as he came to be around the time of the snowball fight -- I wouldn't say no to dinner.

Okay... I LOVE LOVE Disney movies. I'm surprised I havn't posted on this thread yet... at least I don't think I have. Anyway... here's a little list of my favourites in no particular order.
Alice in Wonderland The Lion King Aladin The Little Mermaid Beauty and the Beast The Fox and the Hound Lady and the Tramp Lilo and Stitch Sleeping Beauty
I also saw Treasure Planet recently. That was surprisingly good, I thought. If you havn't seen it I would definitly recommend it!

The Nightmare Before Christmas. I can't believe I actually forgot about this movie. Halloween is such a fun holiday. Dressing up is my favourite part. That and seeing all the other costumes. Anyway, I love Sally. She's a beautiful girl even if she has stitches all over and body pieces falling off. So smart... Jack... The Pumpkin King. -Sighs-

I guess having human emotions and speech does qualify animals, but.. I connect it too much with farm-type animals instead of Animals. Maybe that's just because there aren't Animals in the world, and if there were I'd totally be able to respect them and look at them as equals, but being attracted to them... I might after a while and I could get used to their existence, but I'm not sure if I ever could make that leap. It's the bird and the fish thing... they're a completely different species.
I haven't liked most of the recent Disney movies, or maybe I just haven't seen any recent movies and I'm relying on judgement from a few years ago. But my brother had me watch Lilo and Stitch and I loved it... I even bought a shirt at the Disney Store.
Later when I was recommending the movie to a friend, my little sister said, "That movie was so sad. It made me cry." and I was going on about how hilarious it was. I gave off a pretty heartless impression there ( ) but I did think it was sad, just that wasn't what I focused on.

*snorts* Having spent about the first ten summers of my life on a farm with about a hundred head of cattle, just across from a farm with about eighty head of hogs, I have to say... Disney animals don't remind me of anything remotely like farm animals. There are smart dogs and dumb dogs, right? Smart cattle are stupider than dumb dogs, and smart sheep are stupider than stupid cattle. Domestic turkeys are so abysmally stupid that they open their beaks during rainstorms and drown. Compare this with an agile and eloquent Beast who has variable moods, personal secrets, and the ability to come to care about a person....
Lilo and Stitch was funny. Don't ever let people make you feel bad for thinking something is funny. If anything, life is funnier because there's so much pain in it -- the funny moments stand out in lovely contrast. That you thought of the funny moments in the film means you weren't dwelling on the sad parts. Yay for you.
It was sad, too, but life is. So laugh already.

LILO AND STITCH was funny! Oh, man... when he built San Fransisco! lol... but also sad(in my opinion) The part with the book in the trees... that brought a tear to my eye. Kinda like Finding Nemo... HILARIOUS MOVIE! but in the begnning I was just about crying... even before all of the character development and what not. Oh, if you havn't seen that movie... you are TOTALLY missing out... definitly the best since the Toy Storys!

Heh heh... anyone read that bit in The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown about how all the imagery in The Little Mermaid relates to the lost religion of Mary Magdalene? What do you think of that?
