I love those chocolate orange things! But i haven't heard of your mudslide mix, ko. I'll have to keep an eye out.
We made orange schnappes in chemistry today. We got to drink a little bit, and it was yummy. It was also 98% alcohol It was soooo easy to make too. I'll never need to buy alcohol ever, hehe!

Lianne, love Terry's Chocolate Oranges too. ;D They're awesome! Whoever thought of putting chocolate and orange together was a bloody genius.
My vege soup was sooo yummy. I have lots of it too, so it's going to last me a few days. ;D

98% alcohol? Wouldn't you get a brain ennyeurism from a sip of that or something? Most of the most potent stuff on the market (barring absinthe) is like, 40-ish% alcohol...
The choc-orange mudslide stuff is made by Nesquik. I think it was initially a limited edition version, and then they just left it there or something. But I don't think all supermarkets stock it.
Chocolate oranges are the best. Especially now they have it with milk chocolate so it's even sweeter. ;D But I don't like jaffas, they're icky. Oh, speaking of chocolate and oranges, the other day I had a icecream with a scoop of creamy chilli chocolate icecream and a scoop of blood orange sorbet! It was quite interesting but really good. Like, the chocolate icecream actually was chilli and had a kick to it and the sorbet sort of cut through that and... yeah. It was yummy. ;D

oooh me too me too!! Did you make a still? Yep, that's exactly what we did. We got some orange juice (it has to be pure, though) and added some sugar and yeast. Then we let it ferment for a week. After that, we distilled it. I suppose 98% WOULD have some side effects, although we only had a little bit each (i mean three or four drops with an eyedropper-like thing.) And i had a look at my local supermarket. They don't stock the nestle choc orange stuff. Damn Coles-Myer to hell.

Oh, that's cool. I thought you meant you did shots of 98% alcohol or something. Because that way you'd probably die.
Oooh! You can like, distill almost anything... we made blackcurrant and walnut alcohol once... and I'm going to learn how to make home brew... ;D

Ethanol is a hydrocarbon derivative, just like sugar and alcohol methinks. It's been a while since I did biochemical science. But yeah, it's like, the type of alcohol plants make or something. So if you were to mash up leaves and ferment them and put yeast in there and distill it, you'd end up with ethanol.

it was ethanol that we made. It just came out as orange-flavoured ethanol because of the juice. Carbon chemistry is great fun Earlier on in the year, i got selected to go and do a couple of days of a university chemistry course at Sydney Uni. One day, we did a specialist day-course in food science, and we made chocolate and vanilla ice-cream. When we tasted it, we had to eat Sara-Lee brand ice-cream to see if it was any different (ours was better, especially the chocolate!) Afterwards, the professor told us that we had to eat it all, otherwise he'd have to throw it out. We all ate about 10 litres of chocolate ice-cream!

Oh no! Wasting chocolate icecream? Never!
Hmmm. Icecream really is one of those things I could eat all the time and not get sick of. Like the other day I had chilli chocolate icecream and blood orange sorbet and it was scrummy. Like, weird combo, but really good.

and you guys!! no seafood??...... not even lobster..? *raises hand*
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE seafood. I'm a shrimp fanatic. Now I have a craving for shrimp cocktail... yummy
Salmon's my favourite fish, and I'm real picky about my fish. I can't stand dover sole anymore, simply because I've had it too often.
See Lianne, there's at least someone who likes seafood on this board.

Lynn, do you like Salmon canapes? You know, you get a piece of smoked salmon on a cracker with a blob of cream cheese, capers and dill weed or chives? Because that's probably the only time I can eat salmon... once I had a salmon steak with pasta and I was like, because it was so... fishy. Gragh.

I like tuna and calamari, and that's about it for me so far as seaood goes. Lately my food of choice has been mangoes because it's summer and they've been on special. ;D I absolutely loooove mangoes. They have to be one of the bestest fruits in the whole world. ;D I'm going to Tepinyaki next week for my Xmas work party. I'm a little nervous as I've heard all sorts of horror stories about people ending up with more food down their shirts and in their laps than in their bowls and tummys. Still, it should be entertaining.

Mangos are so great! They are so yummy, but a pain in the rear to cut.
Nie, I've been to a Tepanyaki place and they surely don't drop the food into your lap, or down your shirt.
Just to clarify, the tepanyaki you're talking about is when the chefs cook at your table, right?

Teppanyaki is so cool! That's when the chefs cook at your table, and your table has like, a sizzle board bit in the middle and stuff. It's really fun, and if you don't feel up to catching food in your mouth or in a bowl, they will just give it to you.
It's also berry season! I've got my eye on making this chocolate raspberry icecream cake during the holidays.
